I'm really enjoying the new STF queue options and gameplay, I enjoy the teaming and meeting people. But even with the 1hr penalty we still have the quitters that ruin the fun. You basically have 2 types of quitters, both are despicable but are seperated by the reason they quit the team.
1st type of quitter - The 1st type of quitter is the person who has never done any PVP, Fleet Actions, and has never ran a mission above the normal difficulty. Used to a survival rate of 100% they are unprepared for the difficulty/challenge the STF's provide so if they die more than twice they quit the match in frustrated anger. Codename - Mamby Pamby's or MP
2nd type of quitter - This is the self styled pro, you know the guy who thinks he's better than anyone else. They are the ones in the back of the pack calling their teammates idiots and losers even though they aren't nearly effective as they believe themselves to be and are less helpful than the ones they are insulting since they are in the back insulting rather than fighting. This type quits if the going gets rough or the optional objective isn't met. Codename - Dink
To be a true pro is to take a bunch of know nothing, mud rolling nubbins and successfully accomplish the mission. This can be done by taking time at the start of the mission and explaining to the new people what needs to be done and assigning roles to players. Granted there are some who won't listen but most are willing to follow instructions. I've been on some pretty bad teams but I have yet not been able to complete a mission unless the mission itself was bugged or so many quit I hadn't the people to do it.
There's a third type of quitter and I've been one of these. Accidentally activating transwarp power when its not on the 3 main visible power bars that's not really quitting but its close enough for me.
4th type can be found on Elite STF's, when half the team or more shows up without any regenerators and get bogged down with injuries to the point that completion becomes impossible.

Been on those too, I accidently myself on a couple occassions queued up thinking I had them and didn't but was still able to pull off a completion. Actually for Klingons I believe the organ redundancy should play a role in how injuries effect them in terms of gameplay, a Klingon shouldn't be injured near as easy or suffer the effects of injury near as bad.

This would fall under accidental quitting rather than the intentional quitting I've seen. I actually seen this happen to a player. At the time I thought it was intentional but after the match the guy contacted me and told me what had happened. Codename - Warpout

This is more of a forced situation rather than a person opting out for whatever lame reason they can think of. As I stated above I have been guilty of this myself, bouncing back and forth between elite and regualr matches caused me to forget to stock up on fixes. I felt pretty stupid going into a elite match and then realizing I didnt have them but in those instance several others didnt have them either and it did make things difficult. it was a lesson learned and I keep them stocked in my inventory now whether I need them or not. I agree with the OP about the second type. THOSE are the ones who frustrate me the most. They are freaking premadonas and are so full of themselves. I also agree that a real pro will push newbies and PUGs through the STFs. Real pros will also try to challenge themselves by using only Mk12 common items, or some other such challenge.
What about the player who quits after about two or three hours because it is late at night (say 12 or 1am), and they have to be up early in the morning?

I agree, i ran into one myself on Kithomer Ground(Elite) today.
Two In the team had no heals and didnt even seem to be native english speakers.
He totally flipped and left the team saying he was not going to waste his time with them.
I told him he was worse than they were because he was a quitter, and he got all huffy and boasted on how they sucked and how awesome he was.
The Irony is that despite the 2 of the 4 left being clueless and bogged down with injuries, I was able to eventually muster them and finish the STF, leaving my streak of Zero failed Kithomer Ground(Elite) runs intact... all with PuG's.
Who's the pro player now?
Still, its not cool when people who have no buisness being in Elite Queues join them(aka people running STF's for the first time or dont even know what Injuries are), but its even less cool when someone bails because he thinks hes too good for everyone else.

You sir, I salute! I would be glad to assist you in "training" newbies and running PUGs any day, any time.
I have to stay i've been tempted to ragequit a few times doing Infected. I don't know why, but NOBODY I play with will EVER SHOOT THE FRIGGEN NANITE SHIPS!!!! No matter how much I explain what needs to be done, WHY it needs to be done, and when to do it.....everyone is off dicking around shooting regular spheres or shooting at the Transformer (while the generators are still active), or just completely ignoring everything and fighting generators.
There's almost no excuse to not get the secondary objectives on normal Infected, but people just don't care to even TRY.
Still though, yes quitters are annoying. I tend to see them more on elite than normal, and honestly I have left an elite on a few rare occasions when it became clear that we could sit there ALL NIGHT LONG and not win, but people are stubborn and will still try (fighting Armek without a healer. We did it like 30 times, we weren't getting any closer, it became a pointless waste of time to keep trying) I at least told them I was quitting, though.
Between getting XP boost drops and Q last month, I became a Lieutenant General rather quickly (and this was from level 5). Didn't bother with Fed the moment I unlocked KDF. Seriously, it was like, "What? I'm the highest level? Where was I this whole time?"
So, I'm a newbie, despite my rank.
The thing is, I really like my character, even though I've just dumped points wherever.
My question is: who's willing to take on an unoptimized Nausicaan Science Officer (Medic career), and make him worthy of the KDF Honor Guard and the Vo'quv he's captaining?
I, for one, don't want to be listed as any kind of quitter.
*This statement does not apply to people who quit by accident, from pushing the wrong button, closing the program by accident, or by computer shutdown or CPU meltdown. That can't be helped. Instead I'd say 'That sucks.'.
Well, when you all get that certain "person" in a group, doing his own thing off on his own, then decides to "pop" onto his bridge, let me know ........ this idiot did it 3 times,1left then, including the idiot, one crashed, 2 of us finished off the gens and trans, and was hitting the gate, when our crashed person came back. TBH dont think i ever killed a tac cube that fast : ) Oh forgot to mention, he did this right after HE lost the op for us....
I do admit that ill brag im better then everyone else. I never quit tho. Im the last person standing in the instance ever. But in all honesty, I brag but i usualy do outpreform most, Ill brag after i just Took down 80% of that elite drones HP by myself. But no, quitters r no fun.
A few types of quitters-
1. People who dont use team chat ever who cause 4 ppl to just leave cause he just isnt doing anything as told. (annoyers)
2. People who go AFK and never come back (AFKers)
3. People who Queued with a friend then beams up cause they didnt like the STF (ditchers)
4. People who dont like being told what to do (when they r doing it wrong) (Stubborn)
5. People who think they r right when they rnt (Wannabes)
6. people who Ninja a very rare/EDC and leave (Ninjas)
7. The team when someone is off team (cause that glitch eliminates the teams drop bags) (Greedys)
8. people who just follow the team and dont do anything (tag alongs)
9. People who complain ur not healing them when theres no sci on the team, (Idiots)
10. The healer who isnt healing anyone (other idoits) (lemee tell u a story, i got a healer for an STF, way back in Season 3, he wasnt healing us so i told him to, he said "But that means i dont have all the heals to myself" then i said "But ur job is to keep US ALIVE!" And he said "Thats why u have ****ing hypos" then i kicked him from the team and we 4 personed infected in 20 min)

I have been on some pretty bad teams but I've never had someone go to their bridge during a match. I think that tops every bad move I have heard somone say a team mate has done. Those of you who were left were obviously damn good players to finish the mission. I found it's better to have 2 very good people with you than a full team of mediocre players.
In the end it worked out, When the one that crashed out came back on, he pulled the tac cube from off of us 2, so we could finish the gate off, think it was around 40 ish at the time. Wish more people would realize this, Let the escorts hit the main target and toast it, and either a sci ship or better a cruiser, kite the tac away a bit. Was a real good save, and not one us talked or tossed orders in chat. It was just a given on what would be best done.
This from people i wasnt grouped with before. Which says, some are real good players, sad part is, most are not and only care for themselves..... I call those "ra runners" or WoW players

I wish I could hand out commendations for showing leadership, teamwork, and grit because you would definitely deserve it. You are a pro and the primadona who left was a Dink. I'll take 4 PuGs over 4 Dinks anytime.
I recently ran into a Dink who didnt quit the match but did much worse. It was on infected ground normal diff and right from the start they starting dinking out on the team. They began insulting the team after the 2nd room after we failed the optional blaming everyone for the fail but themselves. And it was the Dink's fault since in typical dink fashion he was way to the back of the team so when we came to a room full of borg there wasn't enough cover fire or aggro pull to keep the rescuer's safe so the borg cut them to peices. I noticed before this happened the Dink was so far back that they were at the other entry to the adjoining room. They stayed with us all the way to the last part where I had finally had enough of them insulting everyone so I told them to stop acting like a Dink and keep their thoughts to themself. He said I'd just F'd myself after the comment I made then went to the bottom of the ramp and stood by the entry refusing to help pouting like a kid. I told him we didnt need him since we could do this with 4 and I had done it with 3 many times. They called me a liar and continued to pout. We got all the shields down and released the borg queen and had her down to half of her health before the Dink deciced to lend a hand. The only reason I believe he decided to help at all was because they didnt want to prove me right that we could do it without them. I think I'd rather have them just quit.

It's also why when I do Cure space that I always volunteer to babysit the Kang.

People like that are probably "gamers". A Starfleet Officer would act like a soldier or a marine. They would do their best to make sure the mission got accomplished no matter what. They would understand that sometimes they might be the most capable person on the mission and they need to step up and lead rather than get frustrated, berate them, and quit.
That being said, I think that you should not have access to the Elite ground mission PUG que until you unlock a mk XI ground set, and ditto for the space missions.
Once you unlock them, they should be account-wide unlocks.

I Had A Few Of Those In A Space Mission. Hell 1 Game Was So Bad A Elite Misson, As They Found It Was Hard, A Five Player Match....Three Wusses Bailed ! It Took Me And The Last Guy 2 hrs To Defeat The Mission On Elite. But We Didn't Quit ! And We Got Our Rewards At The End.
But I Have Also Been Logged Out Due To Getting Disconected By The Server. And That Bites ! Exspecially When You Are A Paying Customer.
But To All Who Has Stayed Through Bugs, And Glitches, And Rude Players.... May You All Have A Great Game !

The only problem with this is that a lot of players would fall out making it hard to put together elite teams.
Don't get me wrong ... I am a player who has not tried the elite yet as I'm going similar to what you have stated.
I'm waiting until I have a full space and ground set (got the latter) at Mk XI as well as a lot of practice so that I am better able to support an elite team instead of being a liability to them.

True, but it would weed out the people who were just trying it out or had no idea what they were doing which would make for a better overall experience.
Those who still wanted to do elite STFs without putting in the time could join the private queues.
I haven't done any of the new stfs until just recently, I have done the old ones. I wouldn't consider my self an expert but I can get a pug that will listen through a mission.
The other day I tried the new stfs. I asked what this optional objective was and no one would give me a straight answer( mostly snide comments) this doesn't help me nor does it help any one else expecially them. So I'm running normal to get my tactics down and get a good grasp on what needs to happen before I do elite.
if I understand it elite stfs are just like the different between playing a mission on normal vs elite? (You take actual damage you need to heal) and what do I hear a out a remodulater is that the frequently remod. Or something else I thought I heard of a autoremodulater. Or one that was faster is that correct?

The optional objectives are:
Space/ground
Infected: Do not allow the nanoships to heal one of the things to the side of the gate / do not let any officers be assimilated (kill the borg around them quickly)
Cure: Do not let the Klingon ship take too much damage AND destroy all 3 cubes within 15 minutes / Destroy all ground turrets within 15 minutes.
KA: Do not let any ships use the time portal in the middle / Blow up all the devices within 15 minutes.
And yes, the Borg now adapt like they did on TNG. They adapt based upon individual energy type shots, so you need to use two different energy types and slow-firing weapons to slow their adaption. Once they have adapted to your weapon, you need to switch to a different energy type or use the remodulator. The regular remodulator can be replicated for free from your ship. The fractal remodulator takes three second instead of four and can be crafted at Defra. Some of the STF sets have remodulators built in.
Except for KA, the space optionals are pretty easy if there is some very basic teamwork. The KA ground optional is pretty easy with basic teamwork. The other two ground optionals are quite difficult on normal with a PUG and nearly impossible on Elite.

This is definitely the truth. It's all about communication. Someone who is truly "good" at an STF can take a team of four noobs and complete all the objectives and the optional (at least on normal) without any difficulty at all.
Quiting an STF really sucks for the rest of your team. The leaver penalty should be increased to 24 hours IMO. (Of course, they would first need to fix the bugs that give a leaver penalty to people who don't quit the STF.)
IMO Completion of the Normal versions of all the STF's at least "once" should be mandatory before you gain access to the Elite versions.
^^^This. Though once is not enough IMO. I would love to see where you have to run the "Normal" STF at least a dozen times (per account, not per character) in order to unlock the STF on Elite.

I hope this helps.
Ive had to put up with people who have been away for months just wandering into an Elite STF thinking its buisness as usual and a piece of cake.
^^^This. Though once is not enough IMO. I would love to see where you have to run the "Normal" STF at least a dozen times (per account, not per character) in order to unlock the STF on Elite.
