I've just returned to the game, and I'm still learning the Doff system. I'm trying to recruit new Doffs at the Federation Academy, but every recruitment mission requires a Counselor. I don't have a Counselor. How do I get one?

Incidentally, I've looked at various guides for these recruitment missions, and no guide mentions this Counselor requirement. Is it new?

    Thanks in advance.

I believe Counselors are relatively new. If you need a Counselor "right now" then look on the Exchange and expect extortionate prices.

if a mission requires a counselor... it's not one of the academy recruitment missions.

Several things. First is the Assignment: Support Colonization Efforts only able to be 1x a day? What I mean if I do it in Delta Volanis, will it just not appear again in any location it could until 24hrs? I don't see any mention of this on the wiki if this is the case.

Second, is there a list or site or link that says which are "ideal" choices from Lieutenant Ferra on DOFFs to get from him in his different categories with either the leveling commendation or Dilithium? I made a list of different assignments, mainly ones that generate DOFFs/Refugees/Trading so I could pick semi decent DOFFS thru him. It's quite a pain going thru his list, then choosing, then later seeing that DOFF while being a Tech or Security Officer that I need for a position has some very bad traits. For example I found that Scott Benjamin Orwell in Trade tier 1 has 3 traits for Support Colonization, as does Drysi Moroun from Development Tier 2. I would just like to be able to have some foresight into his different DOFFs and not making a bad choice, like there's a nice Trader in one tree, but there's another Trader in another and I should get the Conn Officer in the first tree instead.

Finally, I would like to have made a new post but I'm unable to create new topics, possibly because I'm free? Even though the message says quote:

    Hello Captain!

All support missions have a cooldown of 24hours from completion - so 28hours from clicking start - all supports are seperate and only in that location, so Delta support will only be in Delta

Theres this list of the purple Ferra Doffs which is very good
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=265878

might be worth joining the ingame chat channel DOFFJOBS and DOFFCALLS - which is no chat just calls out when assignments come up

Thanks for that thread, seeing that it seems that person focuses on completely different missions than myself, should I not be focusing on the missions that I posted about earlier? Mainly those that award DOFFs/Refugees/Trading? I hope someone can chime in with any other info on the lower tier DOFFs. Also I just want to clarify so you are saying that if I do the Delta support, I could also get the Betreka support at the same time?
Also thanks for the channels, do you join by just typing /join followed by the channel or is it some other way?

If the supports are available you can do all 14 at the same time, linky below of all the specials you can get including the support ones - its a very good list as there are links to where they come from

    http://www.stowiki.org/Duty_officer/Special

Some of the support purples like Maela the Delta doc is very good for supports as she provides 2 critical traits towards them

Some of the best ones are the Asylum missions and the Officer exchanges on Cardassian space

To add channels, if you right click on the chat tab- above the chat box - go to channels and type in the group you want to join in the box and click join, if you click on the tabs button you can change the colour of that channel so you dont get them mixed up in chat

Some time ago I had a mission to perform a play on my ship. I can't remember the mission name, but i got it from my operations officer after visiting my bridge (so somewhere inside your ship).
My reward for a critical success was a ultra-rare photonic officer named William Shakespeare; quartermaster.

On a different note, is there any listing of where to find the various mission chains? I have quite a few half completed, but i'm getting tired of wandering aimlessly looking for the system that I can continue them in.

I'm new to recruiting (focusing mostly on Diplomacy) and I appear to have missed something. I'm a Vice Admiral, Federation, Alien, Female.
Recruitment assignments come in three types. First is the basic recruitment assignment, which always results in a success and awards a Junior Officer Cadre inventory item that contains 5 DOffs. These are usually white quality, but have a small chance for higher quality. These packs have a very small chance to contain ultra-rare DOffs. This assignment can be found in and around the home planet of each faction, does not require any inputs of DOffs or supplies, and has a duration of 20 hours.

If this is a DOff assignment you just pick up in the area, I've pretty thoroughly checked Sol System, Earth Spacedock, and Starfleet Academy. I do not seem to be capable of picking it up. And I can't talk to the Personnel Officer that was linked in the STO Guide. Is there someone else I am supposed to talk to for these assignments? If so, where is this person? I have tried to look for myself... but I can't find any NPCs who might hand out the assignments.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not able to edit the original posts in this thread, but that guide on STOWiki is accurate. These assignments only come from the Personnel Officers now and they don't show up in the DOff UI until you interact directly with these NPCs. The "Personnel Officer" in the same kiosk as Lt. Ferra has five of them, and then the Tellarite Personnel Officer and Andorian Personnel Officer are located on the sidewalk west of that building, and the Vulcan Personnel Officer is just south of the big Starfleet Command seal in the center of the Academy courtyard.

What do you mean by you can't talk to the Personnel Officer? If you're not getting an interact dialog, you have to get really close to her. For some reason the radius on her interact button is tiny, too tiny in my opinion. If the assignments are greyed out, then they're just on cooldown and will be available again in a couple days.

So like my character is apparently supposed to get awarded new duty officers on reaching level 18, but as far as I can tell I didn't get any. You start with 20 and get booster packs of 3, right? I'm still at 20 =/. Is my game glitched or did I just miss something? Any help appreciated.

Seems to be a fairly common bug that an officer pack dosen't get given - one of my rom's missed out on a pack - I would just double check your inventory - see if you have a button at the bottom called "Overflow". If after checking there its not around you will have to file a bug report.

Actually.... if you're playing a KDF allied RR char, the levels listed seem to be wrong. They apparently get the doff packs at the old pre-LoR KDf levels.

Another possibility is that the mission is hidden somewhere in your mission log. It works like the "New officer" missions in that you have to hail command and receive the mission reward.

Run up the cluster chains and the final, repeating, quest rewards a Purple Duty Officer on a critical success.

Do the colonization chain for B'Tran Cluster. After the Renown mission the "Support Colonization Effort" (Fed) / "Support Expansion Effort" (KDF) mission will be unlocked. You need a critical success to get the purple Technician Doff. You need boost your critical chance as high as possible. Do so by assigning any purple Doffs you have with traits that increases critical success.

I have not don't this particular one yet. Typically when I do these missions my Critical Success ranges between 30% - 34% depending on the purple Doffs I am using. After this point it's all luck. I have done a series of around 10 different of these missions in a row in various clusters with 30% - 34% Critical Success rate and none of them completed with Critical Success.

You need to be persistence and have a bit of luck. Maybe kicking your PC can help too.

Can still access the doff missions. Just need to go to the edge of the main sector map next to the cluster. Can't remember where I read it, probably the latest tribble patch notes.
