Yes, they were on Tribble, but they're supposed to be disabled on Holodeck right now.

I can confirm that there is a Tellarite Cultural Exchange mission. Rare, Sirius Sector 2-day mission

You shouldn't be able to have a duty officer EMH at the moment, so I should look into it and figure out what's up (don't worry, I have no plans to have whatever one you have removed).

Molog, male Benzite. Crewman, efficient and honorable.

As it turns out, my wife's toon has him.

I would be very curious if you find out where you picked him up. It shouldn't've been possible...

Unfortunately, the assignment log doesn't seem to go back far enough. Is there some way to extend the lookback?

I suspect she picked it up fairly local to Earth; she's mostly been doing doff assignments and the winter race for the last week or so.

Even with the massive buffing Boarding Parties received? Interesting, I was worried it was overpowered.

Well to be fair I haven't tried it. From memory, it was something like a third chance of adding 3 or 4 level 3 or 4 boarding parties (compared to level 12 boarding parties from my eng., which still generally aren't worth using). WIll give it a go though.

I'm starting to run out of room, and I have concerns for how to fit so much information in such relatively simple formatting as a forum post. I will consider adding the unique powers. I believe stowiki.org has most of the ultra-rare DOffs, at least for Federation.

I'm not going to have much time to log in to STO for the next few days, but I want to start collecting data for something. I and several other people are starting to notice that we're getting a lot of the same officers from Instigate Defection. I'd like to put our heads together and see if we can get a list of all the officers we've received from Instigate Defection, and just Instigate Defection, not from any other assignment. If they are being drawn from a small pool that isn't available elsewhere, we should be able to get a complete list pretty quickly. So, please list all officers you've received from Instigate Defection, including name, race, specialization, traits, and whether they are blue or purple quality. Remember these will always be cross-faction DOffs.

    Here's what I've found:

    Federation:

L'Ruk: Klingon Astrometrics Scientist; Emotional, Honorable, Logical, Spiritual
Bularet: Lethean Advisor; Aggressive, Stubborn, Telepathic, Unscrupulous

    KDF

Meritta: Ferengi Security Officer; Aggressive, Cunning, Emotional, Resilient

Couldnt find most of them, but I'll look again (mainly interested in what the special Gravimetric Scientist power is on Begra, I've seen the rest)

They are from a pool... I can find Heretic's post if you want, but in short, they used to just pull randoms DOffs from the other side, but that was back when you could equip enemy DOffs... after that was fixed, you couldnt equip DOffs from that mission, so Heretic handmade DOffs to be used as a reward for the defection like missions

    Anyway, I only have one:
Kinlo: Klingon, Systems Engineer, Aggressive, Honorable, Logical, Resilient

No luck; wife hasn't a clue where she got him or what the mission was called that dropped him. She did, however, confirm that she's been pretty much exclusively in Sirius and adjacent sectors when she picks up her doff missions. She's been cranking them pretty religiously each morning and each evening, and should hit VA sometime this weekend.

She said that she'd have pointed it out to me (so I could send my toons after the EMH) if she had known it was so unusual.

Does anyone know if "ultra rare" bonuses are in addition to the regular bonus of that profession? (in this case a hangar recharge time reduction)

I just realized I actually don't know what any of the unique abilities are, which is another reason why I didn't put them in the guide.

As for stowiki, there are a few of them listed, but yes, not all of them. They do have a category set up for them, however. As they are added, they should appear on this page:

    http://www.stowiki.org/Category:Duty_officers_with_unique_powers

I'll probably stick that link in the guide at some point, after it has more of the unique officers on it.

I was under the impression that they replace the regular active power, but I'm not certain.

They're instead of, not in addition to. They're meant to be different, but not inherently better.

I succeeded in a Establish Forward Base in the Rolor Nebula but the next colonial mission in the chain never dropped, since I'm only getting regular colonial missions there now. Do I need to wait another 20h to get Establish First-In Colony?

On a somewhat related note, I was wondering if the repeatable versions of the first part of the chain might put the next version on cool down as well. I can't remember the exact wording but the missions say something about reestablishing contact or establishing additional bases.

Also, is it possible that the star chart missions, studying various aspects of the region, security operations and the like might influence the success of the chain missions or if they are pretty much unrelated?

There are also missions available at ESD (or maybe they were on board missions that I just happened to check at ESD) which involved studying expansion in specific regions. Could those possibly influence the success of the colonial chain missions? Could they create a cool down conflict when trying to locate additional colonial chain missions? Or are they just there and basically completely unrelated?

20h after succesfully completeting Establish First-In Colony I'm not getting the Fortify Colonies mission to show up...

It definitely isn't guaranteed to show up as soon as the mission completes. There are several parts of the chain that I have yet to see short of receiving an invite to someone's bridge. I'm not saying it can't happen. I got my B'Tran blue and purple missions one right after another but that's where my luck ran out, lol.

Just like any assignment, it's not always there.

Chains are doubly annoying - you need to be on the right step AND it needs to be there. This is why focusing on one colony is a pretty bad idea, waiting for steps will take forever.

What I do is check them all once a day, and keep a text file with my current chain status, just the name of each cluster and how many chain steps I've done in it. Copy/paste of it:

    Betraka: 6
    Affihir: 5
    Khazan: 4
    Delta Vorlanis: 4
    Arucanis: 4
    D'kel: 3
    Rolor: 3
    T'ong: 3
    Zenas: 3
    Eridon: 2
    B'tran: 2
    Hromi: 2
    Eridan: 1
    Azlesa: 0

ok Fortify Additional Colonies showed up in the sector I am trying to get (rolor nebula) with the requirements as stated in the guide (10 shield generators etc etc) but it does not come with yellow text saying completing it will unlock the next one. So is that the right one or is it just similar sounding to the correct one?

Ah, Fortify ADDITIONAL Colonies is unlocked by Fortify Colonies (which actually has the gold text). If you look closely there are a number of missions that are similar to the chain missions but they have text like "reestablish" or "additional". Those are just the repeatable versions but do not actually unlock or continue the chain.

Although I do wonder if repeating them might speed up the chain in some way or even effect the chance of success. I'm not sure how complex the system is.

To quote Heretic, "I wish I could make logic like that in the system."

Creating additional colonies, dropping off more supplies or settlers, protecting the colony, even reestablishing contact when it goes missing entirely don't have any influence on the chain whatsoever.

I suppose the limited unlock system may also be why the chains progress on failure as well as success.

Perhaps you could include what happens when "dismiss" a doff?
And the "Execute for Incompetance" assignment.

Like, "What happens when I dismiss a White Doff? What happens when I dismiss a Rare Doff? Do i get XP or Dilithium? how much?"

"If I execute a Green Doff for incompetence, will I get a 'better' reward from the assignment? What about a Rare Doff?"

    I'll help with this.

    Dismissing "Rewards"
    White Doff - 75 Dilithium + 10 Recruitment xp
    Green Doff - 150 Dilithium + 25 Recruitment xp
    Rare Doff - 250 Dilithium + 100 Recruitment xp
Very Rare Doff - 500 Dilithium + 250 Recruitment xp

I'll include some "Execute for Incompentecne numbers when I have some.
You get the listed rewards, regardless of the Quality Doff that you execute for Incompentnce.
If you Execute a Very Rare, you still get the 'standard' rewards.

Just a heads up, the Fed reward for critting D'kel support colonization efforts is Jeffery Hildebrand, armory officer. Aggressive, efficient, teamwork, unscrupulous.
