I dont want to see it in the c-store nor do I want to see it as a vet reward.
+1 agreed. This is an award to those of us that put faith in Cryptic upfront in the creation of the game. I'm still alittle miffed that they gave access to the captains table, however I think it is a fair reward for thoes that invested the time and money. (just saying thoes that already had access could have had something eles... )
5 of my 9 lvl51 toons - 1 fed + 4 Klinks - have all the Borg Gear, and the rest have 3/4s of it. Oddly enough I don't have but one Lib Borg and I left him at LC a long time ago. Been thinking of Dusting him off though.
If Lib borg go in the C-Store i want a refund for being lifetime, cause that means, the incentive for becoming lifetime would be a combadge and a blue fourm name! :O They already removed the captains table from us, leave lib borg unique, u can get a character just as good useing Joined trill
Yay!!! I just learned how to turn my name blue...
I need help.
Been a lifer since the first day...
lifers arent an "elite" part of sto... all u have done is use a different method of payment...THATS GREAT!!!!
so u have money to throw around i dont care just stop believing u are "something special" because it is starting to get anoying...Like some rich kid who brags about getting like a million toys for christmas or something.

What I find interesting is the fact folks claim this over and over, yet I rarely if every see a life timer say anything other than hey, do what I did, put your money where your mouth is and buy the lifetime. When you do you benefit yourself, and the game as a whole. Its not about having money or being rich or anything, its about saving up and getting it, then when you do, its about having the perk of the sub.
, I only went lifetime recently, I paid monthly for around a year, I have a TON of C-store stuff. Rough guess, 500+USD spent on game. I am no better that most folks here, however, my spending 300. USD entitles me to a "perk" of the Liberated Borg, until I got the lifetime I wanted the Lib borg yes, but I also understood why it was the way it was, to give the Lifers a special thing that only they had.
As a veteran reward, I say fine. Why? Because anyone that has subscribed for 600+ days has payed their dues in my opinion. But to put it in the C-Store? No, I am firmly against it.
Cryptics financial matters dont... umm, matter..... they were bought over by a very rich company...
Anyways as a lifer who sits atop his latinum tower looking down at the normos i feel we should keep the liberated borg, since its pretty much the only perk that's left....
Not that this thread actually matters any, we all know if c-store sales start to die down the liberated borg race will be punted onto the c-store for a quick cash grab.....
in the end its about cryptic making money not us saving it, they may bring out the lib borg as a way of making a large amount of money.
the fact that u never have to pay money again is meant to be the incentive and because of this option cryptic will lose money in the future the borg is just the addition that they can replace if they want to.
I always saw good business as a balancing act between making money and making the customer happy/trustful. If Cryptic was to put the Liberated Borg in the C-Store anytime soon they would violate the trust of current lifers and scare off future lifers as they will have shown they cannot be trusted.
That said I think the custom aliens are far better than Liberated Borg. I get all the attributes I want not the two a specific race shoves down your throat. But that's just ol' monther me.
in the end its about cryptic making money not us saving it
Given average MMO subscription lengths, the LTS approaches a sure winning bet for Cryptic financially, and that's before the benefit of a large up-front payment.
*puts a pile of erasers into the thread* I've a ton of reported posts here. I'll invite you all to go back, check if you really needed to flame the other user in your reply, and fix it before I have to hand out infraction points.

Wishy, it's kind of musty in here. Must be the smell of rotting flesh. I was sure this topic was discussed, horses beaten over this, and lives lost. Then I was certain that this was buried with the thousands of other dead "rewards vs LTS vs c-store vs monthly subs" topics. Does this really have to be rehashed again. It tends to bring out the worst in poeple who are passionate about their POV.
Putting the Lib-Borg in the C-store would betray the trust of many Lifers. That would make it much more difficult to sell LTS's for their future MMO's.
It's bad business to alienate your loyal customers, just to make a few bucks in the short term.

**Grabs one of the erasers and munches on it**
It might be a good idea to close this thread if it's gotten this hot.
well before the thread gets closed i would say ideally leave it as a perk of the lifetime offer...but i dont really care that much if they do open it up. i bought the lifetime for the lifetime. the borg was a perk, an added incentive that was in no way part of my decision to go lifetime.
if other people want to pay for it then im not really that concerned. its not like it actually affects my gameplay what other people do or how much money they spend.
hmm. $300... hrn. That amounts to 20 months. Maybe they should unlock it as a perk for people who've been paying monthly for two years. At that point, the monthly subscriber has paid more than the lifer

As a lifer, I certainly wouldn't have any problems with opening up the costume options for those who wish to play their character as a liberated Borg, but I think that the species traits should stay lifer only.
The Seven of Nine parts are already available to female characters if you bought the costume pack, and I believe that there has been talk in the engineering reports about adding more borg parts to the aliengen, so it may be happening regardless.
I have no problem with Cryptic putting Liberated Borg Captains with all their traits in the C-Store.
I've gotten my money's worth from my lifetime sub and can play free until the very end. For the most part, I love the game and I support Cryptic with C-Store purchases.
So if Marketing thinks that Liberated Borg would help their bottom line further you have my blessing.
Hmm.. I'm a Lifer and I'd like the Photonic Bridge Officer, but - if I understand correctly - that is for those that bring 5 friends into STO and.. you know what.. that's okay.
Why? Because it's nice to reward a Referral Master with a little distinction; same with the Lifers.
So, while I can understand the desire, to play as a Liberated Borg .. my advice is to A.) Become a Lifer if you really want it, or.. B.) Accept the little distinctions for Lifers, Referral Candidates and what-not.

Photonic Tribble for having one referral purchase the game, Photonic Boff for having one referral renew their subscription for 1 month, and Galaxy X for having 5 referrals renew their subscription for 1 month.

Absolutely agree, get a lifetime or let it (option .
Im also against the Liberated Borg as a Veteran Reward, because that will be an Veteran Reward Mark where all lifers will went away with ... nothing.
I have been paying the monthly subs since day 1. I think the LIberated Borg should be left to our Lifetime members. They put all that money up front in good faith believing that STO was a good investment. and they should be allowed to keep that item special to them alone. I like the items we are being given on each one of the 100+ day rewards.
If you really want to make a Liberated Borg captain, shell out the $300.00 like everyone else. At best, it should be a 600-700 day veteran reward. Anything less is unacceptable.
600-700 vet award sounds nice. even if I had a lifetime subscription I wouldnt play a liberal borg captian. but i still plan on getting the lifetime.
I'm a 530 day vet also a Borg liberated payed like $245.00 U.S. dollars for life think it's $300.00 now . I think STO played down the Borg as a Independence faction like the Feds and Klingon's have due to man power at STO . But did a lot of work in the beginning of the game on the Borg STF missions So much for the third faction the romulans that never happened after a vote 1 1/2 years ago as the next big patch, Borg was number two on the list . Well should normal players be borg yes it might help them to push the Borg faction first as a playable race.

Just my two credits....
actually the phot officer is for one successful friend
Photonic Tribble for having one referral purchase the game, Photonic Boff for having one referral renew their subscription for 1 month, and Galaxy X for having 5 referrals renew their subscription for 1 month.
i have no interest in making another toon with any of the current species, please put the lib borg in cstore
Kind of...
The Borg BOFF will be promotable to a playable character once the Level Cap is raised and we can promote our BOFFs to a Playable Captain Character, (there is also a reward Borg BO in the STFs as well.)
So there is a C-Store Borg and an in game Borg that will be a playable character eventually.

See my member name is in white? That suggests I am no lifer. That said..
Please don't put the liberated Borg in the C-Store.
Lifers should enjoy a little distinction.

That is, if the new Enterprise would be the next lifetime reward to be given to existing LT subs and new LT subs.
