Yeah, your anecdotal analysis of what the majority of Federation players do is of no interest to me. So, reference a source, preferably something official, to prove that the majority of Federation players are flying cruisers.
Or, failing that, provide a decent argument. You claim there are a 'million different ways this cruiser could be over powered.' And if I assume Cryptic is stupid, I'd agree with you. What you haven't shown is any reason Cryptic will make a single one of those ridiculous mistakes. So, I think we're done here, thanks for your time.
LOL... we can't even get an official number of how many people play this game, so don't act so entitiled. OKay, "Cruisers Online" was somethhing I made up; you caught me. You can call it anecdotal all you want, however, when nine out of ten ships at ESD, sector space and PvP are cruisers, what does that tell you. That's the intial reason i stopped playing mine, because everyone was playing cruiser.
Oh man, you're back to saying I'm not making a "decent arguement" again, LOL. Now I'm wondering if this is just a reading comprehension thing. I've already said, and had the support of other in saying, that Cryptic's past performance gives us pause in believeing "they can do it." There are still a number of broken mechanics in this game they haven't 1) bothered to fix or 2) haven't gotten around to fixing.

Hi. Like to point out that Heretic had some clarifying remarks in regard to the First Officer slot, as currently envisioned.
It will be like a universal slot in that any of your BO's can be promoted to First Officer.
It will not be like a universal slot in that First Officers will add ONE active power, in addition to any passive powers they've absorbed from DO's. They will not add 4-5 extra powers, which would overload my ability to manage them at the Captain rank let alone VA.
So the whole argument of making universal consoles, well, universal, has pretty much been shot down. It's a bad idea.
I do like the notion of Ent-F variants with different BO console layouts and would not necessarily be opposed to that.
Here is how I look at it, a patch that just had kdf stuff wouldnt take anything away from the federation would it. if it was never on the table for them to have something in that patch then in essence what have they lost.
In the long run if there were to be a big patch or a couple of big patches specifically for the kdf with pve, ships and costumes that would infact give more content the the federation by default, as the more stuff for kdf would get more people playing kdf, more people to pv through the ranks and a more robust community as a whole. more people paying subs meaning that more money going into the game as a whole, with more money going into the game and the saides both sorted out that would release cryptic from creating pve missions through the ranks for kdf as it has been done, they wouldnt need to spend alot of dev time on kdf ships because they would be in.
So all the dev time after the big patch for kdf all patches after it would be unilateral across the board patchs for both sides who would then be more populated and areas active for people to play the game with others.
I'd like to add that the weekly series are about to kick off again and per Dstahl there shouldn't be more than two or three weeks between them once the start. So Feds will continue to have new content to play even if the Devs decided to focus on making KDF exclusive content. I play both factions and would have no problem with devoted DEV time to KDF only content. It isn't like there needs to be that much more content generated to appease everyone either.

exactly, so peeps not on the feature episode stuff could work on the kdf c-store stuff, new ships, new costumes, unlocking old c-store costumes to the kdf, allowing race that are on the fed side to wear stuff that is available to them eg trill. creating new races and unlock other paid for content races for the kdf, creating the never used rura pentha armour that was taken out of jj abrams film. new space zones to encompass the gorn homeworld, orion planet, the asteroid bases of the nausicans, some back story on the letheans.
the kdf have so much stuff that is viable for them to have it could make your eyes bleed if you had to read it all. they can pull on the letheans, the orions, the nausicans and the gorn not just the klingons. yes if they want to let the klingons be centric to the kdf but dont make it so they are the be all and end all of the kdf as that limits the actual content that can be used for us.

Well, to be fair, you're not really making any argument, decent or otherwise. But lets discuss believing that cryptic "can do it." Why are we putting that in quotes?
Cryptic has messed up hard to implement things like pet AI's. Gorn Science Vessels being the obvious example. Cryptic has also messed up easy to implement things like a Fire All Weapons mechanic or balance for a new weapon. But I think we'd both agree that they make mistakes on hard to implement things a lot more. So, if you honestly need help in figuring out what a good argument is, try and prove that it would even be difficult to balance a universal cruiser.
OR explain HOW a universal cruiser would be over balanced and you'll actually contribute to a dialogue.

I can do that too; You aren't actually making an argument, decent or otherwise, and how about you explain HOW a universal cruiser would not be over balanced and you'll actually contribute to a dialogue.
Get over yourself, Jerm, you are not a conversational wizard.
A "universal cruiser" would be a bad idea gamewise, putting aside the fact that ships with solely Universal consoles need to remain KDF only.
Given the hull strength, power, and weapon points of a cruiser, even if this was all Nerf down to Tier 4 for use with a Universal set up, it would be so unbalanced it would be game breaking. Within a day you'd see people on the forums crying for a Nerf. We're talking a tank you can fit with just the 1-2 tac skills you want and then heals. Or simply nothing but heals. A well speced engineer with such a ship could keep himself/herself alive indefinitely by rotating heals with his/her own captain powers.
The problem is as told before cryptic does not get it. We have told them before start what needs to be in the game way before launch for it to be a decent mmo. The RTS factor of the game is taking president over the MMO portion.
I've played many an RTS game. I don't see anything I would classify as RTS like in STO. I'm really curious to know what in STO plays like an RTS in your opinion.

I kind of felt the same after reading that as well.
I really and truly hope someone in the dev team says a huge HELL NO to that
