Retrofit Starship Token:
Lets you completely customize any shipclass in the game, using the following steps (which would be offered by an NPC on Qo'Nos or ESD in the shipyard sections):
1) Select the basic ship class (e.g. Science vessel, Heavy Escort, Heavy Cruiser, Long Range Science Vessel, etc. etc.) - at any later date you can use the ship customization npc at the shipyard to alter the appearance of the ship using any model variants that are available to that specific ship class
2) Select the ship's console slots. Using a simple UI interface, you're given 8 points to split between console slots in any way you see fit, with a maximum of 4 points in any specific console type. For example, you can put 4 points in tactical, 1 in science, and 3 in engineer - this gives your ship 4 tactical console slots, 1 science console slot, and 3 engineer console slots. Most standard t5 ships (non retrofits) have 9 consoles, the retrofits and cstore ships have 8 consoles, so this keeps with that.
3) Select the ship's bridge officer slots. In much the same way as the console selection above, you can alter the bridge officers available on your ship. You're given 12 points total, and can add a maximum of 5 bridge officer slots. The amount of points taken by a bridge officer slot depends on the rank:
Commander Slot: 4 points
Lieutenant Commander Slot: 3 points
Lieutenant Slot: 2 points
Ensign Slot: 1 point
This allows you to fully customize the bridge officers available on your ship, to match your playstyle or preferred boff skill setup.
4) Select the ship's weapon slots. This system is based on the basic ship hull that you chose in step 1, if you chose a cruiser your ship gets 4 forward/4 rear slots by default (no customization available). If you chose a science ship, you get 6 weapon slots, which you can allocate between forward and rear hardpoints (up to 4 maximum on either side) - so you could have a science ship with 2 forward weapons and 4 rear weapons, if you wanted. If you chose an escort, you get 7 weapon slots, which again can be customized however you wish (max of 4 for front or back).
The ship's hull strength and manuverability is determined by the game based on the type, meaning all custom cruisers will have the same hull strength/turn rate/inertia/etc., all science ships will have sensor analysis and subsystem targetting as default as well.
This system would allow people to retrofit any ship model they want to a T5 ship.
That is certainly more thought out then my idea.
Ship upgrade token. Upgrade one ship to the next tier. No limit. If you really want a t1 conny at tier 5 you would have to buy 4 of them.
They make money and the more implausible upgrades cost more.
and yes I would buy 3 of them to have a T5 Connie Refit.
I know its a hot button topic but if they allow Brel refits you really cant argue against the size...
