Looking over the FAQ, the pet location section isn't that helpful as it just links to another forum you have to sift through for the locations. Do quests instead of just fighting enemies. If you press the "Q" key and click the button in the upper-left corner it will tell you what NPCs have a quest available for you.

I know of one Tabby Plumdrop farmer in Heaven's Tear named Clover. Even though they already have a tabby they continue to camp the area and kill it if there's too many venos after it.
