Well to be perfectly honest no one's forcing you to play this way. You can still level the "old-school" way, doing Crazy Stone, grinding and questing, zhen parties with friends, etc. Thing is, there is a lot of "elitism" present in this game. Unless you're level 90+ with top-notch gear a lot of other players will look down…

Alts don't classify as "new players" in my book. Most of them create their account and then just go straight to Archosaur or whatever and get power-levelled.
