A decent habit to get into is while questing, kill extra mobs. Not only will it help with giving extra exp, you will also get more coin and drops. Also as mangomanau1 said, you do loose exp when you die. That will affect you more at higher levels but will have some effect if you die a lot at lower levels.

As stated by ZeroMagus, whenever I get stuck on top of an npc or stuck in mid-air I just click my wings and fly a little away from the position I was stuck in and land again. Its worked every time.

The uses you would be in a party would be riot control, DD, and keep the melees buffed with bloodpaint. As for bosses, keep them rib striked, and use subsea (when you get it) on them as much as possible. Just be careful because it is an AoE.
