Thank you for bringing this up; it is rather annoying to see Patch Notes posted and the main page claiming that "All servers are online" when maintenance is clearly ongoing.

I'm having a problem like Saphira's (#493). I created a Mystic and fully customised the character's look, but I log in only to see the defaults. I've tried modifying and logging back in, and I think my body settings stuck, but not my face or hair settings.

I tried that and it did not work, either. I've submitted a support ticket, though, so hopefully I'm still moving toward a solution. Who else is having inexplicable issues with version 390?

In desperation, I tried un- and re-installing. No luck. The situation is the same as before, except now I'm stuck at: Game version: 166 Updating files... elementskill.dll I've only gone to such lengths to successfully patch this game because I was really enjoying PWI, more than any other RPG I've played since Diablo II.

I meant that whether I used the client or attempted a manual patch, the results were the same with or without security software running. Sorry for any confusion. Frustrating as this is, it's interesting to see different fixes working for different people. :-)

I have tried running the update client with my firewall/anti-virus software disabled. The problem remains exactly as described above.

I, too, have this problem with the update client getting stuck on "elementskill.dll". Attempting to manually apply the patch, I receive the same error message: "Update files corrupted".

I agree with Reshanta in that there is no build that is objectively "best". It always boils down to what meshes well with your personality and playing style.
