Hello everyone.

I am here to share my thoughts about what I think PWI intends to do with the game. Obviously things have been changing... the New Horizons update, the Arc 2.0 Beta, and various things such as DQ and Refer-A-Friend being taken away.

First off, the opinions that I am about to share are of good tidings, so don't despair... I think this game is going to be around for a long time to come. In fact, I think their going to be doing major overhauls of a lot of things around here.

Let's start with the Arc system. I think it's going to turn into a kind of PWE version of Steam. Steam has been very successful, and I believe PWI can even be accessed from Steam, can it not? It's also going to be a tool in which we'll eventually be able to redeem DQ Points, etc. To be honest, I see this as a good change. Arc takes up very little system resources (I play on an Acer Aspire V5) and find that Arc is great. I just redeemed a code earlier for a free Dreamchaser pack for one of my alts, and it worked seamlessly. This could help prevent disasters such as the recent 10* D Orb mess. I'm excited to see what kind of utility Arc will provide in the future.

As for the game itself, I see a bright future. A lot of our existing bugs came from poor coding documentation from back when Archosaur Studios was responsible for PWI's back-end work, and now they have returned. Obviously, any game that doesn't have Beta before updates is going to have bugs and glitches when content updates are released, and PWI is no different. With Archosaur Studios returned, I foresee some amazing updates, such as old bugs finally being fixed, less errors when new content updates are released, among other things. Graphical updates? Better communication between players and Staff? Only time will tell for sure. You can bet I'm pretty optimistic for the future.

With all this being said, I'd also like to thank certain people in the community. First off, I'd like to thank our GMs and CMs. They put up with a lot of immaturity on a daily basis.

Second, I'd like to thank our forum MODs, who keep the forums relatively clean and mature.

Third, heero200 does an amazing job of logging and organizing all of our community suggestions. Remember the suggestion to be able to changes our names in-game? That may not have come to light without his help.

Lastly, I'd like to thank you, the players, for making our community what it is. Some of you may be better role models than others, but you all make this place a diverse and unique experience.

Now I'll take my leave. Some of you may agree, and some of you may not. Feel free to comment below, but please keep posts troll free and appropriate. b:bye

the 'bright future' part seems a bit far fetched even for me... but i do see some improvement and something to look forward to, especially now that we know the old development teams have rejoined the fray. In this update we've seen something way more than just a redo of old dungeons.

I tend to like the forum MODs. I only occasionally see them close a thread or whatnot that I disagree with.

I agree that this update has brought something fresh and new. It's a major improvement, and if it actually had few major bugs and glitches. Some may say that the 2nd Rebirth quest is broken, but I think that's simply because the new History Advancement feature hasn't been pushed far enough by all of the players. I think once we open more seals, that will fix itself. You have to consider that hypering in Frost in PWCN is impossible, so it wasn't intended that people would rebirth for the second time as fast as they did.

    Apparently not.
When the 11 and 12 star orbs were removed due to
    "Client Instability"...
Was PWE referring to the Game Client?
    Or the players?

Actually, they do exist. I had one PM me in-game about 3 weeks ago. b:pleased

It's not a matter of "fanboy", it's looking at what IS being done, instead of what hasn't been done. Things in this game are slowly improving.

Yeah ARC is an improvement but the charm prices are still bunk. Your bread and butter is getting a nasty taste of returning customer contemplation of once again looking to other shores.

    Charms then:

    Charms now:
    http://i.imgur.com/OODli1c.jpg

Up by 1 dollar. Oh well. Still content gating because Barbarians need charms for dungeon running or the new instances.

I'm not sure but at one stage, it was 5 USD. What about earning them in game from a time sink. I know "services" like backpack, bank space and character multiple ownership as well as cosmetic additions (I'm sure Archosaur Studios had a good art department, I'm sure it still has a good art department now.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqUkvrZ5lvo& - According to this video.

Still looking for a Barbarian on your server? Oh well. Most of them have left or don't play as much due to nickle-diming notification.

But gaming trends are changing and the F2P is a dime-a-dozen and people aren't looking to be nickle and dimed as much anymore. Sure still it is a business but you'd better have a damn good art department because that is what you're selling now.

They're looking to pay their money for an experience. Not be sold power creep items. But services and also to have good contact with the developers on their youtube channel (Which isn't happening over here in PWI) or even on Twitch TV.

I know quite a few other developing outfits that are utilizing the cyber media sphere to the fullest extended. Oh well. b:laugh

I play on an i7 3770K (@ 3.8 Gigz) with 16 gigs of RAM DDR3 RAM and Two GTX 680s. Which will probably be changed out for a GTX 780 Ti at a later date. I don't play on a computer/laptop that is **** (Sorry putting it bluntly but even the hardware standards are going up). Because the gaming standards of what people expect are getting better. Therefore that means people want BETTER VALUE FOR MONEY GAMING. In their experiences when gaming also if that is happening. Then that means that people also are looking for gaming that doesn't wreak the ball park with nickeling and diming which is a plague upon the gaming industry from the early to mid-part of the 2000s.

Are we talking brighter future as in the 1950's version of the future or Aldous Huxley from "Brave New World."

I'm not fussed if people don't agree with me, because all of this is already happening. Right now in 2013 and 2014 and if you're stuck playing the older of PWI's titles I suggest you quit, buy a new computer and stop creating alts plus being gutted by financially PWCN.

There are now MORE YOUTUBERS and TWITCH TV Users than ever before trying out INDEPENDENT GAMES (some of which have free-mium models or pay what you feel models). It's a beautiful cacophony of F2P and different other software products with different aesthetics, mechanics and different graphic art styles and most importantly of all they have BETTER FINANCIAL MODELS for free-to-play. They have better DEVELOPMENT TEAMS who are MORE COMMUNICATIVE with their community.

People are looking to do POWER GAMING and MIN MAXING more. Oh yes, PWCN didn't you learn that lesson with the Frost Walk/Frost City Dungeon and hyper stones. At least zhen partying as a mechanic was ACTUALLY GOOD it was a genuine idea. It worked for a time, in fact for a very LONG TIME (2006~2010). The class synergy was beautiful it was rock-paper-scissors. But nevermore.

I don't even need to name titles anymore. Even though this forum has a policy of 'not naming other games' for fear it might lose the (blind followers) of the [sic] Perfect World. I just smirk and lambast at players who still have bad computers who would play this game. Has yet won't upgrade their computer. Do yourself a favor. Exit the beach and go to greener pastures until PWI changes their business model of nickel-and-dime time-sink over time-sunk into with cosmetic and convenience add-ons or service items that enhance the users experience, but are not required.. b:laugh

i know, im just joking about the mods lol.

i admit pwi has its downsides, but thats pretty much the path that most F2P games go. Its rather amazing pwi has been going this long, expansion after expansion with yes some undeniable power creep but most games that are less of that are the subscription games so we cant really compare, add to that this is basically a foreign import. And of course yes, not everyone is going to be equally satisfied.

Reason why im a little more positive is cause the current stuff is a bit diff. to what we saw in the past changes. Past expansions added new races, new skills, new forges, new drops, new items, designs were different but it seemed like the mechanics were similar. This time it seemed like an overhaul of sorts, in small places here and there.
Like for the first time in these 5 years of pwi since they start 'here', they
    - did an overhaul of the character selection screen,
    - they actually added xmas deco (aka diff. graphics) in town, yes its surprising lol
    - introduced a diff. mechanic to the game (avatar cards)
    - incorporated an extra system of leveling (rebirth)
    - title system which pops with diff. criteria
    - A more detail boutique viewing
    - auto culti system
    - the every-one-work-or-no-one-gets-anything primal % system
    - a map unlocking based on real time server statistics

and prolly alot more i missed

Please do not praise the gms as if they're doing anything good. so far i've only seen let downs and no activity from gms on forums or ingame ( they even said they don't have ingame gms on morai )

if you praise them they wont change... not as if it's likely they will anyway

btw why did my other post get deleted? it's valid critique that gms arent active at all on forums.

defender answered and closed a few necro posts just last week. Morai have just employed a GM to replace an exiting one and another will be joining in Feb.

As many have said before and will again if you arent happy then the best thing to do is leave the game and go do something else. I still enjoy playing the game, I think many of the things that have been added with update are improvements and have add to MY enjoyment of the game. Yeah sure things are still glitched/broken but I dont let them bother me, if I cant do something ingame there are many other things I can go do.

... having been a volunteer game developer myself, I can assure you, continuous ripping on GMs and devs is only going to demotivate them and annoy them. That it is even allowed on these forums surprises me. GMs aren't community leaders -or- devs in this game - which is unusual for an MMO.

No, back on Discovery we just tempbanned them from both the game and the forums if they got too obnoxious and offensive - but left the thread intact (unless there were racial slurs or some other **** like that thrown around). "Behave or you get a timeout."
Worked most of the time... sadly the game engine for that mod wasn't really suited for anticheating measures and it was way too easy to create new accounts.

I agree, their current business model isn't up to my standards. I have a theory that the reason prices have went up, is due to the increased time and effort it took to program their updates, due to the lack of documentation when Archosaur Studios left. Now that they are back, prices may slowly come back down a bit.

Aside from prices, having R9 in the cash shop is ridiculous. No game should be pay-to-win, it should however, pay to be lazy. So if you wanna buy Teleport Stones, or something similar, that's understandable.

I'm not saying business doesn't need to change, but it's all a work in progress. If they can do a complete overhaul, in which I mean:

    Fixing all known bugs/glitches

Graphical updates to make all racial zones equal in graphic style

    Better communication with the playerbase

If they do these 3 things, then they could safely reduce costs of cash shop items, along with taking r9 out of the cash shop as well. They wouldn't need it there, they'd be making more money this way.

What are everyone's thoughts and feelings if they were to do these things then turn subscription-based?

Firstly Thanks, Its nice to know what im doing is well taken and I will do what I can to help the Game via Suggestion Box

Second I just wanna give Credit where it is due. The Name Change Stone was before my time doing the Suggestions so I cant take credit for that. What I do think tho is the Player base Deserves Credit for this and many other things. After all things dont get changed where no suggestion is made!

As for the Future to PWI I hope its strong and i would like to think any work I do will help in the small way it can. PWE do need to get someone in the CM position to help support this game on the forums and I hope when the work is finished on ARC we will see More Focus on the Communication and GMs attending in game.

On my last note I think the Mods Deserve a Pat on the back also. In fact anyone that supports this game in any way does!

    thanks,

    Heero200.

The state of this game, at least HT server:

PVPers trading one shots and crying about it in WC 24/7

90% of WC (excluding horn spam) is people spamming it looking for barbs for Flowsilver for a chance at their 50th Jaden Qingfu card and maybe an almost worthless page or 2.

The other 10% is mostly QQ about how much the game sucks now, coming from people that haven't logged on in 3 years.

Hardly anyone I know even logs on anymore since they are SICK AND TIRED OF HAVING TO TIPTOE AROUND FREAKING BOTS EVERYWHERE!!

Its nice when there are packs of R9 TW archers mowing down every Goothe on the mountain and squatting all over every drop of yours that you manage to glean.

Its wonderful fun seeing 20 jackasses milling about the spiders in the snow mindlessly fighting over the same scant few that have respawned.

I haven't been to map3 in a long time but I imagine its just a squad of seekers on permanent spin cycle with loot monkeys gobbling up the drops now.

The starter area is apparently full of bots now too, just what new players need to see.

You're not 10 minutes into the game and you already can't tell who is an *******, and who is just a glorified troll NPC...run by an *******.

I'm frankly ASTOUNDED that someone hasn't just created like 1000 accounts and simply blanketed the entire starting areas with bots yet, so that there are literally ZERO mobs left for anyone to kill.

Since there are so many trolls out there that want this game to die, there you go, get to it.

Maybe then the "managers" will talk some sense into the devs and remove this embarrassment of a "feature."

Of course that wouldn't stop power leveling in frost, but it would stop the legitimate new players that PWE claims both exist and are in fact valued in any way.

    Which brings a fair point:
The whole "max 2 clients at any given time per IP" should really be enforced by the server now. That would -REALLY- clean the game up (but cause some crying by folks claiming to have their mom, dad, brother and four little sisters all wanting to play on their machines at once - because they looove to beat up one mob after another on their archer/bm/sin for entire days without getting any sleep. Really!).

The problem isn't botting. The problem is players getting excessively greedy in doing so and stepping way outside the boundaries of what is acceptable, both rulewise and common sense wise.

I agree with this. Me and my wife plays (Although she only logs occasionally), and I myself have 2 accounts. The thing is though, even if someone has 3 accounts logged on a single IP, that would be an acceptable and believable number. For all of these people claiming to have 10 people in their family playing in a single household, maybe they should hit up the local McDonald's or something.

@AlysonRose I'm not sure how the game is on Heaven's Tear, I'm from Raging Tides, and things are improving. I'd like to say that we have plenty of Barbs, only thing we kind of lack is Venos. Still Venos, can be found within a reasonable amount of time normally.

@heero200 One of us should become the CM. You already do a lot for the community, maybe you should look into it. I'd love to be the CM, it would be a dream come true. I'm not a programmer though, so if that's in the job description, I'm out. b:laugh

I don't see the future of perfect world any well respecting gameplay. There are 2 things that annoy me a lot that have been a trend ever since the release of nations wars. One is that almost all the new stuff obtainable is always bound, and the other is that for getting anything, there is always a luck factor involved.

Bound items annoy me because you cannot do any money on them in game. They are forcing people to cashop really bad. Up to this day, the only thing that you can farm for "decent" money is still TT...

What makes me kinda furious about this, which I've got to admit, is that long time ago when I wasn't op, other op people could farm instances like TT or NV, when they were profitable and new, solo. They made millions of coins, or farmed fantastic sets of gear for themselves. Now that I'm Op, I can't do that because ever since NV they haven't released a instance where one could farm in the way NV or TT was farmed. I feel is unfair that now the players who are op can't farm like older ones used to, and that they want to kill farming off this game.

A perfect example of this anti-farm and you-must-cashop behavior is precisely this new expansion. To get the best cards available atm (S), you are forced to expend 4 gold for each box. The only new instance which we have touched has a limit of only once per day, and to get the best reward from the instance, you need to expend 4 gold, ridiculous.

This expansion is also an example of that luck-based gameplay, which I'm starting to hate. Once again the avatar box packs: 4 gold, but the change to get the best card is like 2%. Another example of luck based gameplay is the training system for veno's pets. Each pet has like 20 moods, and each mood has 3 qualities. If you want a certain mood, of the best quality, my change is then like 1/60. However I wouldn't be surprised if the top quality had lower change of coming out than other qualities. So with one roll each day, how many years will it take me to get ideal mood for a pet? Ridiculous.

I also don't like the way they have been "balancing" pvp or pve. For example the aps problem. Aps was op, to solve this PW decided to bring forth something even more op: purify speel. Oh, but purify is so broken, to balance it they have brought for something even more broken that bypasses all game mechanics: the "new stun"; from which the only way to counter it is to have faith/tidal or total immunity before someone uses it. At some point PW will realize how op that new stun is, and when they balance it, they are going to make something even more broken... They already bypassed the normal game mechanics, what's gonna be new next?...

Hopefully PW will have less bugs now that the original team came back, but I'm not expecting much tbh. However, this pattern which took course after the release of NW hasn't changed and I think it will not change.

I also see improvement from PWE's side and I think there has never been as active and fun moderators as there is now! Since v4liance was a CM the game has got some pretty neat new content and fixes to certain long-existing bugs.

There are still a lot of bugs to be fixed and a lot of improvement to be done and there have been several hiccups from PWE's and Wanmei's part but I believe most of these issues will get sorted out.

We also should remember that there are also things that we players cause by ourselves that decreases the fun in-game. This would include too greedy merchants, scammers, heavy botters that do not think of others, WC drama, PVP drama, forum drama, bullying, rushing newbies to powerlevel etc etc.

Can we blame PWE for us players being immature and selfish? I think not.

I completely agree. Can we blame PWE for their mistakes, when we can't take responsibility for our own? We constantly bash and put down the Devs, GMs, and MODs for these problems, but have we ever stopped to think that we're only making things worse? I have to admit, I've vented my frustrations a select few times, but I can count how many times on one hand... and I been playing for almost 4 years.

I'm not a heavy cash shopper, I've put a decent amount of money in over my time here, but I'm not made-by-visa. I agree that some problems, such as inflating prices, are partially caused by the players. Token prices are at an all-time high, and I can barely afford to throw out recruiting messages. Hypers are beyond words, when I started they were roughly 100k or so. Now on RT, they are about 230k.

With that being said, we need more people that are willing to step up and communicate directly with GMs and CMs, and be mature about it. By this, I mean:

Not crying over everything that isn't being done,

Giving them direct, solid, and accurate information.

    Being polite and respectful.

If the GMs and CMs would allow us that are willing to help to have a more direct line of communication, this would help many issues, not just reporting bugs and glitches. It could help keep other problems, such as keeping scammers out of the game, and keeping the various forms of bullies out. It really kind of reminds me of the Game Advisor program that they were trying to come up with. I wonder what happened to that. b:question

Is it that impossible for you to believe that some households would have more than one PWI player? Obviously someone has never had a significant other who plays with them. :P
The problem isn't botting. The problem is players getting excessively greedy in doing so and stepping way outside the boundaries of what is acceptable, both rulewise and common sense wise.
While this is true, it really just comes back to the age-old debate of who's at fault... the purveyor of bad ideas, or the customer who indulges in them?

Is wanmei at fault for power creep due to offering R9, or are the players at fault for buying it?

Is wanmei at fault for the cheapening of levels due to failing to restrict Frost entry, or are the players at fault for performing powerleveling "services?"

Is wanmei at fault for all the botting woes due to creating the auto-bot system, or are the players at fault for failing to use it in a civil manner?

There are a lot of factors at play here, but ultimately both parties are clearly at fault. Take R9 for example... a gear set that far outshined anything that came before it, crippled the role of individual skill, introduced to a market of players who had grown to love a highly competitive (but at that time, balanced) PVP system. So most people had no choice but to jump on the bandwagon, or give up on serious PVP entirely, yadda yadda yadda... we all know this story.

So why'd they do it? Ignorance? A misguided belief that it would make the game better? Good old-fashioned greed? It doesn't matter. We spend way too much time ranting at PWE/wanmei as the sole negative force in the matter, when the truth is that regardless of their intent or shortsightedness, the success of R9 and the "death" of the game would not have happened if the majority of the playerbase hadn't latched onto those terrible ideas.

You, the individuals, have always had a choice. You could've quit in 2010, like many did. You could've stayed and made a conscious decision to focus on the parts of the game that didn't require R9, and not take PVP so seriously. But if you did indulge in R9... whether farmed, cash shopped, pulled magically out of the air, whatever... that, too, was a choice. A choice to support the very same BS people have ranted about for years.

The state of the game? Well, it's far too early to see the extent of Archosaur Studios' impact. It dismays me that they've gone for a misguided "revamping" of the lowgame complete with that trippy, inconsequential starting zone... but the only thing I find truly objectionable is the removal of low-level molds and the way they're throwing Dreamchaser gear at you. Other than that, the game is still playable and you can still pitch it to your friends... just with a ton of little "asterisks."

    EDIT:

I believe there are certain people who were associated with it that couldn't keep up with the project, for various reasons. That's all I know. And of course v4liance's departure didn't help any.

While it would be great to reboot that project and I'd be all for it, the problem is not so much communication with the CM (because let's be honest, only the CM is really supposed to be our representative per his job description). The problem is that even if the CM supports what we want to do, s/he has to play telephone with wanmei, and the likelihood of anything substantial being fixed at that point is next to none. Issues like power creep / gear disparity and Frost powerleveling have been given CM attention in the past, but nothing ever came of it. Ultimately, the problem is that no one on our side of the pond makes the decisions... it all comes from the wanmei devs, who get their instructions from the top brass in Beijing. What we need is a clearer, more consistent line of communication with that top brass... but after five years around here I've never seen it happen.

I'm not terribly familiar with that depth of coding, but it sounds like what you're describing would require completely redoing the game engine (y'know, Angelica, the 10-year-old one), and probably the whole map with it. At that cost, they may as well make an entirely new game.
