1. What is the pet upgrade and how does it work?
The new Venomancer pet upgrade is an update to the old, and quite outdated, pet system of the class.
Once certain pets reach level 100, they will have the new option of being evolved and change their appearance using new items named Feral Soul Star (see Venomancer Daily below). In addition to this, pets' stats will be affected by the Venomancer's gear and stats after they've undergone the evolution.
The stats are not affected by the gear you wear when you evolve the pets, they are affected by the gear you wear when you summon them. When you improve your gear, the pets will be improved too. It doesn't matter what you're wearing when you evolve them, they won't be stuck at low stats because your gear is "bad".
The stats and gear from which the pets will be affected are the following:
HP
Attack
Defence
Attack level
Defence Level
HP = (Venomancer's HP/ Venomancer's Level)x(a constant number = 24) + Pet HP stat = overall HP of the pet
5% bonuses from equipment seem to not affect the pets.
Attack = (Max weapon Magic attack + Magic Rings + Magic attack adds + Shards)x(Loyalty)x(Inherit Coeficient) + Pet Attack stat = overall attack power of the pet
Defence = (Equipment + Resistance Adds + Shards)x(Inherit Coefficient) = overall defence of the pet
Includes both physical and magic defence.
Defence/Attack Level = (Venomancer's Defense/Attack Level)x(Inherit Coeffcient) = overall Defense/Attack level of the pet
The above maths were provided by dupethefile.
Each pet will have a unique Inherit Stat for the HP, Attack, Defence, Attack level and Defence level. Each pet will have to be trained (see pet training below) in order to change these values.
Pets can gain EXP by being fed Feral Soul Stars. It's been reported that they are quite effective. It appears that the higher level the pet, the more EXP the Stars give.
Legendary pets will change inhabitant!
They will now be able to be taken into instances, go underwater and fly.
Old legendary pets (Hercules/Phoenix) can go on land, water and air after they evolve.
New legendary pets (Monkey/Harpy) can go on land, water and air from lvl1.

New Pet instance discussion
Quick summary of the instance and how it works:
It's available only for Venomancers level 100 and above. It's a solo instance from which Venomancers can obtain Feral Soul Stars that are used to feed pets with EXP, evolve them, change mood and reshape the inherit stats.
The quest can be taken at the Mrs. Zoologist (585 620) in South Archosaur once per day, between 8:00am and 11:30pm server time. Pick up the yellow quest for the pass, it only lasts 15 minutes so make sure to enter quickly.
Previously you could pick up the pass anytime but it appears the latest patch changed it so that you can only pick it during that time frame.
Pick up the blue quest to enter the instance. Make sure you're not in squad with anyone otherwise you won't be able to enter (quest won't be available).
Once inside the instance:
Speak to the NPC to start.
Another NPC* will spawn after a few seconds along with the guards and the puffbird. The NPC has a quest where you can exchange 1 Feral Soul Star to receive 10 back. *It appears this was just a time limited event. This NPC no longer exists.
You'll see a semi-circle of dark horseman guards, waiting for the enemy monsters that will spawn from a purple-looking portal.
In order to defeat incoming enemies you will have to activate the guards to attack them for you.
In order to activate the guards you have ctrl + click a skill, this requires PK mode enabled. Please read/watch this on how to activate instance without PK mode and visit the video link above.
Attacking an already activated guard will switch them between fire (magic) and physical attacks. Activating a new guard will cost 100 credits, so you can only activate guards as you earn credits from defeating monsters.
The order you activate the guards does not matter, activate them in whatever order works for you.
Sometimes a fox monster will try to sneak past and go to the other side at the portal. You'll have to have your pet out to quickly kill the sneaky fox. It runs pretty fast so make sure to send your pet quickly. I'd recommend a ranged pet or a fast moving pet that can kill the fox monster in a couple of hits. If foxes manage to run into the portal you will lose credit. The fox monster has high magic resistance and low physical resistance.
There will be a puffbird NPC which you can attack to activate and cycle through its debuffs; reduced health, slow movement speed or reduced defences. Please refer to the links & videos above to learn how to use the puffbird. The puffbird's debuffs play an essential role into killing the waves of monsters.
There are also special monsters that spawn before each wave after the 3rd wave. Again, please refer to the links & videos above to learn how to deal with them.
Regarding Waves:
There are 10 waves in total, all random, and the last wave is a boss. Make sure to use Amplify Damage on the boss and send your pet in addition to having the guards activated. You must use all of the puffbird's debuff in order to kill the boss.
Try to freeze it to give time to your guards to kill it. Only freeze debuffs will work (Parasitic Nova, Stunning blow, Demon Frost Scarab), the boss is immune to stun.
I'd recommend starting with Parasitic Nova at the puffbird so you can keep the boss locked down while cycling through the puffbird's debuffs and keep rotating through Stunning Blow and Parasitic Nova to keep it in place. A successful rotation of those two skills should allow the guards to kill the boss. Usually the last 4-5 guards won't even touch it. If all guards are activated you won't need to keep freezing the boss.
Once the instance is over:
You will be granted Feral Soul Stars. The amount depends on your credits.
Even if you get negative credit you will still get 18 Feral Soul Stars.
Regardless of your score you can trade in one star to receive 10 back in addition to what you have earned with your credits.
If you get credit between 400-699 you get 20 Feral Soul Stars. If you get between 700-999 you get 22 Feral Soul Stars. If you get 1000 you get 26 Feral Soul Stars.
Getting credit over 400 will give you a low chance at getting a legendary pet skill as a reward (Claw or Bless).
Getting the perfect score will give you a very low chance of getting the skill Bewitch (Squirrel), shared cooldown with Bewitch and Bewitch (Tiger).
3. New legendary pets and upgrades of old pets

~Video of the evolve-able & evolved pets.
The content update has introduced two new legendary pets; Monkey King and Harpy.
These two new pets can be traded for the pet ticket at the Zoologist using the items Soulroot Stone and Harpy Plume respectively. Each of the new pets require 10,000 items as opposed to the 9,999 required items for the old legendary pets, Hercules and Phoenix. The items can be obtained via the Boutique (press O in-game). The ticket is trade-able but the egg is bound to the account. The egg can be account stashed.

The new legendary pet skills are exclusive to these pets and if you unlearn them you will never be able to learn them again. If you're thinking of removing any of those skills think twice; you will lose them forever.
4. Pet Evolution and Training Mode
Discussion on the evolved pets' inherit stats and moods.
In order to start the Training Mode, you will have to open the Pet Bag (press P in-game) and click the new icon that will appear next to your pet.
Please note that only pets level 100 and above can enter the Training Mode.
The Training Mode will give you the options of evolving and training your pet using Feral Soul Stars acquired via the new daily quest (see Venomancer Daily above).
You can use the Feral Soul Stars to feed to pet EXP. If the pet is level 100 you can use the Stars to evolve it. Additionaly, you can choose to use a combination of Feral Soul Stars and Chienkun Stones if you don't have enough Stars.
In order to feed a pet EXP it has to be summoned. In order to evolve/change mood/reshape is has to be stowed.
All pets require 140 Feral Soul Stars to evolve. Other options are 75 Feral Soul Stars and 20 Chienkun Stones or 20 Feral Soul Stars and 90 Chienkun stones.
Once evolved, using the Feral Soul Stars (or a combination of Feral Soul Stars and Chienkun Stones), you can change the mood of the pet (see New exclusive skills and personality skills below), increase the inherit stats of the pets and increase their EXP.
The Mood grants the evolved pet two new skills. There are over 70 different Moods. Each individual pet has access to 30 Moods out of the 70. The type of Moods available vary from pet to pet.
You will have to enter the Mood Training in order to roll for a new Mood. You will randomly receive a new Mood and you can choose whether you want to keep your old Mood or new Mood. Regardless of your choice the Stars/Chienkun required will be consumed. Mood skills cannot be leveled; you will have to reroll.
In order to change the inherit stat values of your pet you will have to Reshape. Much like with Mood Training, you can choose whether you want to keep your new roll or not. Regardless of your choice the Stars/Chienkun required will be consumed.
The Star requirement for Mood Training and Reshaping seems to be different for each pet but the difference is usually no bigger than +/- 5 Stars.
Pets that have evolved will acquire an exclusive skill. This skill is unique for each pet. See below for further information.

Yeah, the pheonix will only enter instances after it's evolved and the hercules will fly only after it's evolved. I'll correct that part to make it less confusing.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

I went into PK mode to attack those horseman. In order to hit them you need to press ctrl and attack skill with mouse (because for some reason buttons didn't work for this), which is pretty uncomfortable.
And yes, pet's stats depend on gears.
These are herc's stats when my veno is fully-geared.

The first pet i evolved was the herc and my first reaction was Yacky.
It was Naughty and the 2skills were flash and provoking.
Provoking is an awsome skill mine came as lvl6. Today was bh gv and we had a r9 seeker and he was in vortex the suprize was that the herc had the arrgo overall the mobs inside vortex.
The skill description is a bit misleading It is a buff so that each atk the herc makes there is a 30% probability to cast something like a "roar" and that applies to the aoe.
Did a full ws herc was getting and keeping arrgo and stayed alive till it was purged by boss0 -

A question and something you could add to your guide as I'm sure more are wondering :
The pets that aren't on the list or your skill list, are they unable to evolve ? Or is there anything known about future additions on that ?
I love my tabby and my qinfu, so I'm wondering about that ...0 -

They can't be evolved right now.
They might give evolution to other pets in the future but that's something nobody can guess for now.
I do feel bad for those who have pets they can't evolve; they devs could have at least given them a standard evolution (no appearance change and and average coefficient values.)[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

Great guide, but I got a few questions :
Where can you check how many credits you have while playing the daily quest? I only was able to activate one horseman, but might be because I only pressed ctrl + skill.
What is the lowest amount of Stars you can gain in total per day? Keep in mind you can do some very strange trades with the NPCs that make no sense b:chuckle
Any tips on which skills to use on which horsemen? Does your skill level affect the damage from the guards?
I know it's all new so some questions might be difficult to answer, but maybe you do know some answers to this."How do you turn this on?"0 -

I'm still working on figuring things out and I have to wait till 8am ST to go again so I'll have more information later hopefully. You can check your credit by looking at your quest log, the quest tells your credit and all that.

Do you mean the mood skills? I haven't evolved a pet yet (saving mine for when I level the harpy to 100) so I'll have to test it out with hubby but I have a feeling the level of the mood skills is random and can't be manually leveled.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

Sad that herc and Nix has to be lvl 100 to get the abillity to go in air(and water?) when the new pets gets it from lvl. 1 - not that it surprises me tho, just a new way to get Venos to spend a sht load of $$ on new pets.
I wonder if the Monkey King can tank as good as a herc can - I play a lot with a lvl 95 Veno and her herc does great work - would a lvl 95 Monkey King be able to compete with that?Miss my Avatar b:sad

Monkey King leans towards DD moreso than tanking. It has decent defences but the hercules comes with defence buffs so it's still the best tanking pet in-game.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

Ok we are figuring this out one wave a day.
First Wave:
You want to hit the puff puff bird to activate it. Then hit the guard next to it. This will take care of the mobs on the first wave that travel around.
Make sure to have your hardest hitting (DD pet) out. The second you see the "sly fox" announcement, target the fox with you pet and let it kill it. If the pet is not dealing enough damage fast enough, then hit it a couple of times with your hardest hitting, fastest casting, skills. This will kill it.
This should end your wave 1 with 100 credits, which is enough to activate the next guard.

Desdi, in the pet training window there is a button to see a full list of moods as well as both skills that come with each mood. There's four pages of moods to go through, but I hope this helps.
Has anyone tried to level their mood skills with the item you buy from Ms. Zoologist? The same way other pet skills are levelled? I don't want to try until I have a mood ill stick with, but I thought that might be how to level skills.0 -

Tried it; didn't work. Only way to get higher level is to reroll the mood..which will most likely just give you a different mood.
