Yes, it is time for a literacy test. You didn't explain anything about why they were removed from boutique and re-added to the supply stash at such a random update. I don't see any correlation between increased motivation to use perfect horns and new classes being released. And nowhere in my post was I complaining about the GMs being inept. Mentioning a literacy test because people decided your post wasn't worth reading is a bit tasteless, even if it just a sarcastic joke. b:tired

it is just one horn and even if they put them back in the ah who cares? i dont so what if people spam the horns let em. it doesnt interrupt anything and it doesnt effect my play style horns are just teles basically so what if you cant censor them i normally have wc on in my other chats and tbh the crying about the teles are worse then the horns.

Clearly you dont ever read any ingame chats. If you did you would see how difficult it is to do certain things ingame (ie talk with people) when your chat menu is filled with duke and system spam. Also you =/= the majority of the player base. Just because it doesnt affect you doesnt mean it doesnt affect anyone else. For someone who relies on chat to coordinate certain instances and pvp, it gets really irritating when you cantsee what people are trying to tell you. and tbh, I'm doubting the crying about teles are very often as all it takes is a switch in chats to turn them off. IJS.

There should be a separation between Duke spam and actual system messages, i.e. the server is shutting down in x minutes. We should be able to block Duke spam, and Horns should never have existed in the first place.

Horns aren't that bad really. What bugs me is bidding hall duke spam in freaking TW! It scrolls away all my squad and faction chats and makes it difficult cause I might miss something. At least disable that **** in TW.

FWIW, I hate horns as well, but the Duke and Bidding SPAM is a lot worse, or at least it has been since horn usage dried up. When horns first came out, I had to stop playing for a while because it was simply impossible to enjoy the game.

However, I have tried something that might help should the horn spam become an issue again, and perhaps some of you will find this useful.

The Horn's BOLD message shows up in an invisible window. When there is a horn message in it, however, you can see and move the window. I have been able to slip my horn window behind my hot-key bar, which I usually have open to show 3 rows.

Therefore, hopefully, half of the annoying text will be relegated to an area of little concern. The other part, of interrupting Squad chat so much that you can no longer communicate with your mates, will hopefully not materialize.

Question: Are the players in China just a lot more civilized than the player from the rest of the world, and is that why horns are not a problem there?

    Good Luck!

I don't understand the issue with the horns.

    Faction chat is bright blue.
    Normal chat is white.
    Squad chat is green.
    World chat is yellow.
    Whispers are dark blue.
    Familiar whispers are magenta.
    System messages are red.
    EXP/ Spirit display is orange.

There's already many so many colors flying around. People talk on world chat and use smilies as well as everyone else on any other channel. Quit being such whiny cry babies; if you're bothered that much by it, why are you on a MMO with 3 layers of PARTICLE effects?

Actually YES I did. If you read it. In short PWE (Perfect world entertainment) does not control the main aspects of the game, like quests and quests rewards (like the supply stash [http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/quest/18973]{pwdatabase.com/pwi/quest/18973}). They are merely a subsidiary of Perfect world beijing. So the only thing they DO have full control over (or the most control over) is the boutique. The horns were NEVER fully removed (in a literal sense) they were merely 'effectively' removed by no longer being offered for sale in the boutique (which PWE DOES have control over).

So... over in china (beijing) they decided to add a horn to the supply stash, and this is nothing PWE can change, they can only continue to NOT offer them for sale in the boutique (as they 'promised' us) to keep them 'effectively' removed (minus the one you can now get from supply stash). Go look at the CN servers, the horns ARE STILL available for purchase from the boutique... So to think that they ever were, or will be completely removed is a false hope... (or in order for them to be fully removed this is something that Perfect world beijing would have to approve and or do themselves).

I do apologize if you took offense to my previous statement... However you along with anyone else should be made aware of how the whole situation really is before complaining that PWE brought back horns; when like i said, they in fact have no control over HOW they were 'brought back'. Most people are ignorant to how the situation 'works' with Perfect world beijing, and Perfect world entertainment (north america). Again I don't mean offense by saying 'ignorant' I'm just using the word to it's literal meaning (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignorance), meaning 'lack of knowledge' (that PWE is just a subsidiary of Perfect world beijing, and or how subsidiary's function).

This is actually kind of a neat idea. A special 1-time-only shout for reaching level 65 AND paying 5 Gold? That's seems perfectly reasonable.

Sure, once-upon-a-time Horns were the bane of all chat windows, but they're not anymore. That's Duke's job nowadays. b:chuckle

    UPDATE:

We hear you loud and clear, and we'll do what we can to fix things.

The item will be removed as soon as possible (next week is the target) from the Boutique, and will not be reintroduced to the game until it has been changed for the better.

Succinctly put, the horns haven't been changed at all. Until the original issue with them (they are unfilterable and appear cross-channel) is corrected, they have no place in PWI. The volume of people using them or how much they payed to do so is irrelevant to this point.

And for everyone making arguements about spammy system text - YES it's disruptive and obnoxious, so why the hell are you making excuses to allow more of that? Just because it's not "as bad as before" is no reason to roll over and claim it's a non-issue.

they knew ppl hated the horns and they cannot be filtered out w/o using the horribly limited blacklist feature but they brought them back anyways to help with the money grab 4 the expansion

this company really is entirely basing its decisions only on what will get them the most money the fastest and not what quality gameplay entails which r options.... duke black says hey everyone someone just got r9 hey everyone someone just got a scroll of tome... cant ignore those either and they interfere with gameplay when u sometimes need to read relevant text esp of the red variety.. but who gives a **** lets just buy more zen maybe u will impress some pixel friends with ur red text thank u for ur money now stick ur content where the sun dont shine

eventually the addicts who r stuck cash shopping will figure it out but not until they dump thousands more dollars and/or thousands more wasted hours into the game that promotes spending money and not creating quality content

It's not so much that it's one free horn, but moreso that there was a very negative backlash against the initial release so they decided to remove it. So what in the world are they thinking by re-adding them without changing the mechanics of what made people hate them so much in the first place?

When I said they, I wasn't targeting PWE in particular, but the ones responsible for removing/adding perfect horns. I didn't know about that tidbit about Perfect Horns in PW-CN boutique though. This makes more sense now. b:sad

the key word is "now". Kephras has the right of it, if this is allowed to slide by, things WILL end up where the horns become a blight on the game. they need to be nipped in the bud, while it's still easy.

lol no it doesnt need to be nipped in the bud there is nothing wrong with them people just need to stop crying about them and get used to them. how do they hurt you? never heard bad language before? (playing this game i doubt that) Bright colors too much? seriously its stupid to cry about these when all they do is move your convo up a spot. do you cry when someone else is talking to someone else in faction and it gets in between your faction chat? or how about when your talking in common with a friend and someone else talks. omg you should remove the fact you can see other people talk cause it moves my chat log..

    how do they hurt you?

if allowed to proliferate the way they did before, they make it impossible to use the chat function of the game for anything useful, due to the endless interruptions. by which i mean, even much more so than the red duke spam does.

take the red spam during its worst bidding-hall frenzy time, multiply that by a factor of several, and think of that as the new baseline for the slowest times of day; that's what perfect horns can do.

one single five-gold horn for the people silly enough to open their level-65 stash is not the end of the world. thinking that, since that one horn doesn't seem to hurt, surely it'll be okay to put ten-packs of horns in the cash shop for cheap... that'd kill in-game text chat. which, you know, WOULD hurt me, since i happen to rely on that function. and THAT is why this needs nipped in the bud, now, while it's easy.

i was here when the horns were here before they arent a big deal. big whoop people mess around with them. i get more annoyed by people who cant play their class right and then qq on the forums that one class or another is op.

edit: also want to add in the fact that if you think about it the teles when they first came out were just as bad as the horns but now its alot slower then it used to be.

TW is in-game content, beyond their control. DQ nerf was in-game content, beyond their control. You see where this is going.

I don't blame PWI or the GMs for including them - hell, I'm not here to cast blame at all. What I am saying is to end this before it becomes a problem. So let me make it blatantly clear:
IF YOU DO NOT SPEAK OUT NOW, YOU WILL FIND THEM BACK IN THE BOUTIQUE
. If you give PWE the message that this is acceptable, I promise you it will come back and bite you.
