@ OP: nice letter but you would probably have more personal success if you send a PM to Frankie, he does check his PMs and sends a note back :)

    Hex =/= client crashes occasionally.
that's where you're wrong. PSP exploits (for example) are made from hex designed to crash the system. so I know full well a piece of incorrectly coded data WILL crash a system.
That's exactly what we used to exploit the system. hex

hex = hexadecimal = simply the base 16 way to format numbers. There is nothing magical about it being written as hex though, it's just more convenient when working with bytes, as one byte = 8 bits, so can hold up to 2 ^ 8 different values, which just happens to be number of different values you can represent with two hexadecimal characters (0xFF = 255, so including the zero, 256 values).

I think you mean just one byte has to be wrong for things to possibly crash, which is of course true, depending on which byte it is. Saying 1 hex is wrong is a bit of an odd way of stating it, as it is merely one (very convenient) way of displaying bytes of data. Another way would be using ASCII for example, as there is a 1 to 1 mapping for a byte -> ascii char as well. Or of course just base 10 numbers, although they're not commonly used to display unspecified data.

exactly what I man. sometimes it will, sometimes it won't

I also stated maybe, I don't have any access to the hex for the +12 orbs (at the moment anyway)

Which is an unexpected varient in programming and requires specific errors to be forced *Used ChickHEN on his old PSP before it got stolen and his **** insurence gave him a ****ing 3000 with 6.xx firmware*. You know the varient on forcing the crash has a lot to do with what you do prior to trying to view the image? Its the same everytime, cept theres hardware and human input speed to consider in trying to get it to work (break). Oh, and thats a buffer error anyway so you must be talking about something ive not researched yet (Havent cared for hacking **** recently).

A hex error is ALWAYS THERE and happens EVERY TIME it is encountered in the right manner.

There is no ****ing hex error in the data for a damn orb or we would have experienced it even outside the cash shop and it would be everywhere on these forums b:bye

you would also remember that chickhen had timing to it. (and there's 6.60 PRO-B9 for that now by the way) You could just as easily crash too. so maybe it did crash sometimes, but not always, that would e reason enough to pull it.

Well if this error is there (Hey, il admit its possible, im not an idiot) its got a lower encounter rate than a 1.25 APS Sin in Nirvana, so why pull it like that? They havent emergency shutdown to fix FC, they havent done it to fix TT when it "broke" (When it reverted to non-5aps or GTFO mode briefly) or anything.

The only time they have shutdown the servers in an emergency in my memory have been for cash shop fixes.

~All we want is honesty, we know they did it for more money in the long run, we just want them to admit it personally instead of blaming some bullsh*t idea of "possible client crashes".

~~Thanks for the tip, im on 6.60 thanks to Dissidia 012 anyway so I shall investigate this.

Hex isnt a magic word in the realm of computer voodoo. It's just a representation of data.
For these sales there can only be so many meaningful parameters such as:

Item ID, Quantity, Price in gold, Category Id

Obviously none of those values were corrupted and they are lying by claiming it was the cause of client crashes.

There have been thousands of sales and hundreds of items before with no crashes. The odds would be incredibly small for the first such crash to happen with an item that has a large effect on the market and lifespan of the game. Ohh I forgot the first 2 such crashes since there were 2 different items that had to be removed.

Installed loaded and used within 5 minutes of your post. Its nice and reliable unlike chickHEN, which on a bad day took 20 minutes to initiate b:surrender

As for the TT thing, you know how the bosses in 3-x Seal and purge and go ballistic and make it close to impossible for your average TT90 wearing squad to beat? Yeah, wasnt always like that, it was a challenge sure, but it was doable. They changed it because of farming and made it impossible to farm unless you happen to be OP or incredibly lucky. Then they reverted it by accident for a week. We farmed like wh0res knowing itd go back to **** you mode asap.

~Asterelle pretty much nailed what I was aiming for.

So will this sale ever be back then?

What about the orbs existing in shops now?

Was it the orb item itself causing this "possible client-side issue", or the process of purchasing the orb in the game thru the boutique?

Bump for great justice, and a GM response.

A very honest letter. I fully agreed on what you said, SkogDyr.

I kinda have lost faith on PWI management for a while now... but I don't really bother about it anymore.
That said, the ideas you expressed are something serious to look at.

I am sure GMs are aware of it all, but are not very honest with us, the playerbase (to say the least). It's like they don't feel like bothering devs in our name/for our cause, except when there is a major riot forming at the corner. It's not a healthy relationship in terms of business. Customers are supposed to be treated fairly and their opinions and suggestions, if wise enough, heard and worked on.

But hey, I just shrug at it nowadays but still hope for a miracle...
Maintenance time. Please choose a line:
    - When is it over? OMG I need my fix!! *super spazzing*
    - Fix the damn bugs, dammit! I'm so angry! I'll quit!!
    - New codes out there? I like free stuff~ *wink*
    - When will we get new content? QQ
    - Will we get sales? I got a ton of gold to spend.
    - I'm bored, I'll create a useless thread to annoy Opkorock.

Sorry about the wait, my post got cut off and I immediately got pulled into a meeting. But getting back to the OP:

There were no revenue issues - the sale itself was doing fine. The directive to remove them came from China, as they had located a possible client-side issue with selling the Mirage and Flame in the Boutique. We were directed to pull them from the shop immediately, which is why we had to have the emergency maintenance.

Frankie just a question. Do you really believe that was the reason they wanted you to take the sale off? Can you 100% honestly say you believe that?

I still crash. It was not the orbs causing it. I never crashed since 2days ago. I crashed twice today, so the cause wasn't the orbs. b:surrender

    My fellow PWI friends...

I've read Frankie's reply. I respect the fact that Frankie cannot answer with full truth due to his superiors' marching orders. That I fully understand.

This is why I will no longer reach out to Frankie on PWI subject matters. I understand his hands are tied and cannot resolve the issues about which we care deeply.

Because of the current limitations in the chain of command, I have reached out to the PW team in China.
The great thing about working for a global airline with bases all over the world, including China, I have access to the best source of linguists to communicate directly with the board of Perfect World.

During the course of the next several weeks, I will be drafting a series of concerns to directly inform those who control our gaming experience.

I also have free travel access to China and will ask for a personal meeting with someone in public relations.

Rest assured I hold no malice towards Frankie. I realize there is only so much a person can do while they follow orders. Thus, I will take that burden from Frankie and carry it myself.

Thank you all for your comments and I hope these efforts might restore our loyality and faith in the Perfect World.

Reverting FC to the old instance would be adding new content. b:pleased

Only a handful of us have actually done it. Back in the day I only ever made it past 3rd boss once... with all of today's gear, the old difficult instance might actually be fun. And a few pieces of that gear is actually quite decent... would be good to farm for lower level alts or to sell to other players...

Or go about getting FC shut down to prevent further glitch abuse, honestly it should have been closed the day the glitch was exposed popular instance or not.
