I did have to google it too, I didn't even know that word, and what pisses me off is that the word is french...in a game that I know is supposed to be ''international'' but we all know we talk in english. So the point of the censure there...I don't see it, and about the waiting for my name being fixed is just taking way too much.0 -

Any word yet since week is almost over???0 -
It is now official - users whose characters' names were censored will be sent:
- 1x Demon Sage Card (can be turned in for 50 Event Gold, which can be spent in the Event Boutique)
- 1x Crimson Fox (See image here)
Affected users had to have submitted a Support Ticket that followed the guidelines above to be eligible to be sent this compensation.
These items will be sent out within the next 2 weeks.
Thank you for your patience everyone.0 -

No offense but that's ****... We missed 2 weeks of 2x. We missed out on Nirvana, and hh squads and the chance to make at least 80 to 100 mill and you hand out 50 event gold that we can get with dq points and the event on Monday which I might add most level 100's do.. In fact my sin already has 32 event gold left after refining a bunch of gear and my veno has 215. Oh and a mount. Yeahhhh for the mount. What about a new cage so I can hatch the mount and add it to the others I have. The black raptor, the sage tiger, the kirin and the Crimsom Fox egg I have in the bank that you gave out for charging zen. Keep the dang mount, I sure as hell don't need another one I cant trade and as for the 50 event gold you ppl never cease to amaze me at the regard you have for loyal customers. As much money as I have spent on this game and you wanna hand me 50 event gold.
What you should have done is given ppl affected 2-3 easy rider or coral packs per level of their character since obviously a level 10 wasn't anywhere near as affected as a level 102., and this way maybe they had a chance of winning something good or at least an elite fly mount (3.3m/s). Only time I ever use a land mount is in arch and even then I usually just fly. THANK YOU PWI for letting us know how much you really care.0 -

I'm very dissapointed...b:surrender0 -
WTF r u kidding me!!!!! 50 event gold after all we put into that char????????????and have to quit it anyway....u know wut.... GO FUC YOURSELFS!!!!!!!!!!!PWI[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Thanx Jean for the siggib:kiss0 -
Wether I stand to get this or not, this compensation is an insult to your players.
I would've at least expected a "We'll change your name or remove the half-assed censoring so you can keep playing as you normally would have before we screwed up and give you items that actually express how truly sorry we are for **** up your gameplay experience because of our lack of ability to implement our changes correctly and these items should make a few people jealous that THEIR names didnt get censored".
I dont know about everyone else, but all I heard was "Here some scraps. Now ShutTFU".
I've said before: PWI is the wife beater; players are the beaten wife that keep coming back because they hope their beater will change for real this time.0 -

Understand the complaints yet? No? Okay, let me explain...
PEOPLE'S NAMES ARE STILL CENSORED AFTER SENDING COUNTLESS TICKETS. GIVING PLAYERS 50 EVENT GOLD (UNTRADABLE) IN A BOUTIQUE THAT IS EXTREMELY OVERPRICED + AN UNTRADABLE MOUNT IS UNACCEPTABLE. PLAYERS COULD HAVE MADE 500M+ W/ A PERMA SQUAD DURING 12 DAYS OF 2X + THE OTHER 3 WEEKS THAT THEY STILL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A FIX. THEY LITERALLY DESERVE TO BE GIVEN MILLIONS OF COINS BACK IN COMPENSATION. THEY NOW ARE FORCED TO QUIT OR RE-ROLL BECAUSE PERFECT WORLD ENTERTAINMENT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THEIR FLAGSHIP GAME - PERFECT WORLD INTERNATIONAL; SOMETHING THAT EVEN I CAN DO TO THE CLIENT FILES IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES.
b:bye
Edit: Just wanted to say, I think it's friggin' hilarious how it's "bannable" to edit the client files, but Perfect World Entertainment won't fix the game for months... When even I can edit and fix the issue in under five minutes. That's literally five minutes, and the company that every one of you is playing this game from -- won't give you the fix.0 -
I agree with the pro barb of heavens tear b:shutup
The untradable "toys" are fun and all.... but we can't do anything else when we're bored with them. But that millions of coins we could have earned help us support not just our own char.
All those people who farm on a main whose censored get screwed now b:cry0 -

Untradeable toys aren't fun at all if you already have one sitting in your bank you don't use.. It's not like we can breed them and make trade-able baby mounts.. Will just be one more mount to place in the bank along with the other untradeable Crimsom fox egg and the other land mounts that aren't even worth selling anymore.
No-one would be that upset if you had fixed the problem right after you became aware of it.. PWI was so worried about the EU servers that have a been a great big flop that you made us wait 2 weeks. We got 4 days of 2x to tempt us and tease us and then bammm. All gone. Everyone else was raving over the nv drops and yet we couldn't even get a squad. I managed to get in 1 squad by having them add my alt then my alt add me and so on and so forth.

Well my bad for saying theyre useless if we have one, my bad for not wasting my time helping the affected cause by writing a wall of rage text.
Just because I don't specify all the instances where everything sucks doesn't mean I hate on the censored0 -
Just stopped by PWI-forums to see if this was fixed.
I assumed it would have been a few days after I up and left PWI oh I don't know, a few weeks, nearly a month ago or something?
Surprise surprise it still isn't fixed.
Seriously is this really so difficult to do? It was a lot of the reason I left the game yet again, is because this company can't seem to fix these things in a timely manner if at all (or much less TEST this stuff before implementing it in the first place).
Certainly not doing your rep any good, guys. I mean really. PWE has hit a really low low, and they already were on shaky ground far as I was concerned. The playerbase seems to be trying to do more to fix this than the actual company.
I'm not even affected by the censor glitch and this is just... plain stupid. PWE needs better management or something. Either way, something needs to change or it will only continue to get worse in my opinion. -_- I'm willing to extend the benefit of the doubt, but only to a certain extent, and I've extended it plenty times over for PWE. Clearly all for nothing.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

My apologies, that comment was not in any ways directed at you but frustration at the lack of affection perfect world has for people who have been in this game since the beginning. The support of players not affected has been overwhelming but doesn't seem to make a damn bit of difference to PWI. And I say unaffected but this did in fact affect everyone. People who seriously wanted me in a NV squad, who did try to invite were also frustrated by this idiotic chat filter. Maybe another 2 weeks of 2x server wide would make that up to them and allow us censored names to pad our coin account a little.0 -
We cool bro. Lol
I've had my frustrations with pwi, one I don't like the recover account... It's way to lengthy for what it's worth sometimes. And my sin got censored, so I couldn't level when I planned to:( no demon for me0 -

It is probably a good thing you are leaving then. You have been ranting about your name not being fixed when your name does break ToS. Yeah, your name purposely has a bad word in it that needed to be censored. I know GMs have tried telling you this and you refuse to listen.
There is a difference between people who accidentally included the letters k.u.m or t.i.t. in the middle of their name somewhere, but in your name you are outright calling yourself a ****.[SIGPIC]http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa85/kitsunekatie/guild stuff/allcharsig1-1.jpg [/SIGPIC]

Did you read any of the past posts in this thread w/ Shelly & I, speaking back and forth? Please tell me you didn't, and will now go do that.
The problem is, while it is against the ToS to create a name that purposely has profanity in it, it's not fair that players reach end-game and play everyday for hours... Only to, without warning -- not be able to play, yet not be banned. If it was a serious issue in the first place, this player would have been banned. However, this specific player was allowed to go on thinking it was okay, until they reached end-game status, and now are unable to play.
Re-roll or quit is BS, and always will be in my opinion. The issue is fixable in under five minutes. I can fix the client-side issue on my PC in five minutes. However, it require's everyone having the same client-side fix, for the fix to indeed work how it's intended. Just because it's fixed on my PC, doesn't mean it's not going to be fixed on another person's PC.
I haven't ever had any of my toons censored. But I'll stand by the side of all those that have, and fight for them. Why? I believe in rights, justifiable equality, and can place myself in their shoes via empathy.
If one day they mess with the censor filter again, and my Barb's name is filtered... With no fix... And untradable compensation... I'll rage. I can put myself in these people's shoes. I know how it feels, and how it would feel.0 -

Yes I have been reading this thread, and I feel sympathy for the people who had their names censored because of a small part of thier name containing some odd profanity that no one ever knew about unless your mind was that far in the gutter. I don't think that the "compensation" they gave them is all that wonderful.
I however, have no sympathy for the people who put a very well known profanity into their name knowingly. When they do that, they take the risk on that name being banned. Same as people doing the ini edits to their characters to make them look pretty. They take the risk on the account being banned. It's no one but their own fault if they get to 100 and the GMs ban them cause one person decided to turn in a ticket.
I'm getting tired of people playing the "I spent tons of money on this game you can't ban me" card. GMs can't monitor every player in this game, it's impossible. People slip past filters and such all the time. That's why, if anything, players should help out and ticket people they see that have profanity filled names or that take advantage of glitches, or break things like what's in the ToS. You are supposed to read that before creating a character.
So if they have well known profanity in their name on purpose, I have no issue with the GMs banning them. I don't care how long they got away with it, it's still wrong. If a robber stole a ton of money and got away with it, but 2 years later the police finally catch him, they just gonna let him go and be like "aw darn, you got away for so long we just won't arrest you?"[SIGPIC]http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa85/kitsunekatie/guild stuff/allcharsig1-1.jpg [/SIGPIC]

While I agree with what you're saying, our morals are a bit different. I still firmly believe that if the player was playing until end-game with the name, even knowing how horrid the name was -- some kind of warning should be given, that they will be banned or not able to play. Yes, the player took the risk. No, I don't believe it's anything like a robber getting away with stealing. Remember that, the time this player has put in this game, isn't always correct on the forums. Normally, your avatar join date is activated when you first log into the forums. For all we know, this player has been playing since beta. To take this away from someone, is wrong. That's the possibility of years more of playing, plus the past time -- all taken away with no warning.
They weren't banned, mind you. No GM has ever stated that this specific player can't play because they went against the ToS. They can continue to use their toon, but they can't whisper people or be whispered. If it was a name issue by now, don't ya think they would have been banned instead of having them rage on the forums, and what not? The issue is the updated censor filter doesn't allow that specific profain word, which mind you -- never existed as a bad/profain word in the past PWI.
So, while we both seem to have different morals, I do agree that if someone makes a character, they should name it appropriately. However this specific case is mind blowing. I wonder if one day I logged on my Barb, and my name was censored... What would they say to me? Sorry, re-roll?
Banning is different than what has currently happened to this player. If it was a name issue, I believe she would have been banned already from the game, and forced to quit or re-roll. However, that's not the issue. The issue is this player, like others have a client-side configs.pck file on their PC, that has specific words in it, causing the players to have their names censored.0 -

+1 Lets all read section 5 of TOS in regards to user accounts
"You, as creator of your Account and User ID, are solely responsible for your User ID . PWE will not tolerate offensive or obscene User IDs. If a User ID violates any part of these terms, we may immediately, temporarily, or permanently ban such a User ID, with or without notice. "
That section of TOS has never changed. No matter how long people get away with it before they are caught.0 -

The "warning" was the ToS itself. They shouldn't have to tell someone more than once. And it is similar to the robbery. Fact is they broke a rule and are just now getting caught for it. They upped the filter because there are people who obviously can't understand why **** is a bad word and decide to make that their character name.
If your name was actually profanity(not just the accidental t.i.t) than yes, I'd be ok with them shrugging and saying reroll. You take that risk making your name with a word you know is questionable. It doesn't matter if it was a profain word in pwi or not, it's a profain word in real life and they should know better.
I believe the GMs should follow through and ban people with names like that rather than just filtering the names. Maybe banning that many people takes a while and they hope the players will reroll with a smarter name this time. If they don't, than they don't.
If my name randomly was blocked cause of the censor, I'd send in a ticket and ask why or look it up. Chances are it would be some random one no one had heard about and I didn't do it on purpose. It would most likely be fixed just as some names have been. The veno earlier however had a name that is known to be profain, unless you take **** as a compliment.[SIGPIC]http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa85/kitsunekatie/guild stuff/allcharsig1-1.jpg [/SIGPIC]

Very true. I myself, have read the ToS a few times. I know what it states, and follow it well.Kitkate - Dreamweaver wrote: »The "warning" was the ToS itself. Yeah, I mean... I think we're just two different people w/ different ways of seeing things. I look on the side of the player, which made a mistake by making their characters name the way they did. They should have been banned if it was an issue, which they still aren't oddly enough.
When I said it was nothing like a robber, I ment it in a different way. See, a robber can take the time to plan out the crime. Rob the place, and get away with it... Only to get caught a year later. However, the different in this case is a robber doesn't spend that year that they weren't caught, hard at work -- unless they are a serial robber, who is robbing multiple places until the time of getting caught.
A player on the other hand, spends their free time leveling and gearing their character up. Putting each day's work into their character. This is of course different than a robber, because the robber isn't putting 5+ hours robbing a day, unless they are a serial robber. When they get caught, they go to jail. When a player does something wrong, they get banned.
This specific player is yet to be banned.
Lets not forget the players who have their names censored STILL, and have followed the ToS to the dot. These players have sent tickets, and complained on the forums, and done everything to their best ability. They are too given they same logical option as the player who had profanity in their name: Quit or Re-Roll.
So, if the players that have followed the ToS are given the option to quit or re-roll, and the player that had her name censored because it has profanity in it, is given the same option... This would be equal in the robber scenario, to a person who has not robbed any place, gets sent to jail on burglary charges, just like the person who has in fact robbed the place(s).
Just as always, I feel for both sets of players -- it's unjust. But again, this is and always be Tremblewith's opinion. No one has to agree. No one has to disagree. It's just my opinion, which you can take it as a grain of salt, or take it however you see fit.0 -

If you think some people don't sit at the character screen and plan out "Oh I'm going to make my character name **** cause it's funny," and try to spell it different ways to get around the filter, then you are mistaken. I'm not going to say running from the law is exactly easy, so unless you have experience with it I don't think you can exactly call it easy either. I know for a fact that most players of this game don't spend a whole day on it grinding out money, actually I feel like the very rare 1 out of 10,000 that does grind still on game. Actually the person stated they had spent money on this game, so yeah, they might have worked to get that money, but no one forced it upon them to use it on a free game.
As the whole "not a robber but was put in jail" scenario, that person can go to court and fight for being not guilty, which is what a lot of the people who had this done to them are doing. And if they didn't knowingly break ToS because of the accidental part of their name being a weird word, than I'm ok with that. It's the people thinking they should get out of trouble even though they know their name is profain that I dislike.
They may not of banned the account because that person does have other high level characters they can play that do not break the ToS. Maybe trying to give the person a break for once as long as they get rid of the character name that is awful to look at.
Yes, GMs should do better as far as customer service, that's been said for years. Can't really fix that. Yeah, I feel sorry for the people having to reroll cause a couple of pwe employees are lazy. It's unjust for those who didn't break the rules.
But I think it is justice for those who break the rules on purpose. I follow all rules of this game, and I believe ToS should be enforced. I will always say that.[SIGPIC]http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa85/kitsunekatie/guild stuff/allcharsig1-1.jpg [/SIGPIC]

As was said plenty of times, we've yet to hear of ANYONE who got banned because of their name breaking the TOS. I'm pretty sure it's a simple process to ban an account, yet, people whose names are in violation of the TOS are still able to log on, even though they have to go through hoops if they want to squad or get PMs
To get back to the robber example, if the police knew someone robbed a bank, they wouldn't let him get away with it, they'd engage criminal persuits against them to eventually sentence them for the crime they commited. Why hasn't PWE done that? Usually, in a criminal case, that happens because evidence is either not strong enough or invalidated in some way and so they can't get a conviction because of insufficient evidence.
But as far as PWE is concerned, do they have 'judges' and 'lawyers' and 'players' at this moment meeting to decide wether this person or that one deserves a ban for breaking TOS? I seriously doubt that. Honestly, I don't know what they're waiting for. Maybe for those players to leave by themselves, out of frustration, because it's just too much work for PWE to deliberate on and ban or not all those accounts that had a character with a censored name?
If a player doesn't get a ban, will their name even be fixed? As tremblewith said, as it stands, violators and victims are given the same choice: keep jumping through hoops or kill your toon.
Screwed up hair because of a patch gets fixed the next day (happened a year or so ago I think). This drags on for ages.
I reiterate my suggestion: REMOVE the changes to the filters until you can make one that WORKS. Simply adding GOURPS OF LETTERS together in a badnames file is about the stupidest and laziest way to make a filter for censoring. It totally ignores the fact that those groups of letters might find themselves together in a non-offensive name. If my name was 'Titanium', I would get censored because of the group of letter T, I and T. Would that be fair? Of course not. Should that name be off limits for it? Of course not. There needs to be a more 'intelligent' filter that can recognise such instances.
The word 'japanese' has been fixed, it's no longer censored. Yet, I still have to 'typo' my way through talking about my old fac leader 'BeatMe'. So, a fix is possible. Is PWE's just not bothering with it?

At least someone see's it the way I do. Nice to know my type of thinking isn't alone.0 -

Also, on a side note, if your name violated the ToS to begin with (like for being a cuss word or racial slur) and got censored out, please do not expect to receive compensation.
My IGN is Shurei. Apparently it got censored because of the "hure" word in it. I had no idea it's a German cuss word (a friend of mine told me it is). Will I receive compensation because of this? :x Shurei is a Japanese name.
Not that receiving compensation would be the most important thing to me. I just want to get my name fixed so that I can start running FC.
How long does it take to fix the IGN? I submitted a ticket 2 weeks ago.

All this is going around to is the fact that yeah, PWE won't fix a filter. They don't ever fix anything right away unless it affects their wallet. It's another one of those issues. They may not be deciding to do anything either because they don't want a ton of cash players leaving right away and just rerolling to get more money, or they are just too lazy to put in the effort to fix the filter correctly.
This filter however, even fixed, would still block out ****'s name up there because it is still profanity. A filter fixed to not block out t.i.t is still going to block out **** because they deliberately put that in the name.
It's fine if players want their names fixed just because some small part of their name is t.i.t like titanium. I have no issue with that and I posted in one of these threads earlier defending members who do have their names that way. It's the people who deliberately put the profanity in their name and think that it should be fixed for them that I'm against. So yeah, I'd like the filter fixed, but only for those people who actually need it. I have no sympathy for people who can't get a squad cause their name is ****.
Btw we do have a judge, lawyers, and players. It's called China, the GMs, and those that were affected by it. We have had GMs discussing this with players and for all you know they might be debating it. Obviously some people got the name fixed so they are doing something.
Also, the hair patches thing took longer than a day. I had a character that had that issue and the bald underwater issue. The clothes disappearing underwater has been going on for forever now too and they don't seem to care about fixing that. On one of my chars I have to remember to switch outfits every time I do an underwater quest.
However when they had forgotten to put in packs for one patch, they immediately shut down the servers to put the packs in. I'd say that pwe has some priorities above others. The GMs know people are upset about the filter, but they aren't rushing to get it done. They figure they can fix a few names here and there and people will calm down about it.[SIGPIC]http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa85/kitsunekatie/guild stuff/allcharsig1-1.jpg [/SIGPIC]
