Thanks for removing my post Shelly. I wonder why you removed mine, but kept that one guy's post (still there), that has information on how to change the client files as well as the direct download of the updated client file. Oh well.
I guess, since the staff here don't plan to help or have members try and help one another, might as well quit the game, S.lutfromNc. Or, send a PM to me and I'll give ya info on how to possibly change your situation.ChaoticShelly wrote: »Well, your name is problematic to begin with. Her name is problematic, yes. But why NOW, would she be able to not player her character? That seem's highly unfair to tell a player at this point, after they have leveled up and played fairly for a length of time, that they are now unable to play.
What would your advice be Shelly? Re-roll the toon w/ a different name? Why would a player have to go to that length to be able to play again. Sure they made the toon, knowing the name was offensive. However, they didn't get banned, and clearly reached a high level. So, why now would they have to stop?

How did you miss it anyways? It was in the same thread you removed the post in earlier... Like 2 weeks ago, now. Little late now, lol.
Anyways, the bottom line is: Players still have names that are censored. I'm quite shocked they haven't quit yet... Well, some. I know most, that we're affected by the original 2 weeks of censored in-game names, quit after 48 hours of there being no fix. Personally, I'd get myself banned if I had a in-game name that was still censored. But, again... That's just me.0 -
"eat me" is still censored. I am here on the behalf of the Nirvana boss who can no longer say "defeat me"... who's representing them, huh? b:sad0

Yep, I've known about that for quite some time now. Kinda sad that they are dumb enough to censor their own bosses in instances, when they speak. Lol. But ironic at the same time.0 -

I can't give advice about an issue I'm not familiar with, and since I'm not a GM I can't tell her what to do in regards to it. If she sends a ticket she could possibly be banned for her name. I'd probably re-roll if I were her (I'm not saying she should, just what I'd do if that was my problem).

But why should it have to go to that length, of spending months on a toon, only to be forced to re-roll, with no warning of the issue coming? If her name was an issue, why wasn't she banned in the first place, or not allowed to create that name? I understand why it's against the ToS, but if nothing was done within' the first month, why should the player now face the penalties of something that after the character creation screen, was out of their control?
I really am quite upset about this issue. I can put myself in his/her shoes completely. If it was me, I'd be massively raging, until the point of banishment from PWE games completely.
In my opinion, if it was an issue in the first place, then she/he should have been banned, or had to re-roll. You don't tell someone that has put time and effort into a toon, to go re-roll. Sorry, that's completely unfair. If my name was somehow against the ToS, and I, being me, have played for almost 3 years... If I was told that I had to create a new toon to be able to play, after all the hard work I've done... I'd rage so hard, that I'd get banned for life.
This isn't fair to the player(s) that we're involved. Bottom line.
My opinion, anyways.0 -
You're directing your complaints to the wrong person. I can't do anything about it, and I didn't make the rules.
I agree its not fair that someone will "have" to re-roll in case their character gets reported and banned for choosing a name that's considered profanity, but the user also holds responsible for it, and should always use common sense and avoid these situations.
A similar example is when someone reports their account being ****, and upon investigation found to be sharing their information with another user. They could possibly be banned for it because account sharing is against the ToS - they didn't use common sense either.
I do think its better to not allow such names to be created in the first place, but what about those people who circumvent the filters - is it not fair their accounts get banned even after all their work if they worked around the filter despite knowing its not allowed?

I see where your coming from. Though, I still stand with my opinion. Also, there is no one else to direct this too. Tickets, tickets, tickets, right? They are automated responses 99% of the time. I've sent in ~20 tickets since I joined PWI's community of players. One or two we're actual responses, that stated my name and what they we're going to do, if anything. Also, I'm sure that the people like the one above, who is still unable to play this game, have sent countless tickets with no resolve.
Frankie doesn't respond to PMs...If he does, it's a week or two later. Sometimes a month. No other GMs really are active on these forums (though, they are somewhat active as CM's on other PWE forums). That leaves, absolutely no one to speak to about said issue.
While I see where your coming from Shelly, I still stick to my opinion of it not being fair for the player(s) involved. It's a shame, that the only people that ever respond (sometimes), to anything on these forums are Mods. I realize it's the weekend, and no GM/CM works on the weekend, but I still believe this issue should have been resolved ~1 month ago.0 -
Tremblewith - Heavens Tear wrote: »I still believe this issue should have been resolved ~1 month ago.
With that I agree. I believe you've seen my posts about the issue and how I feel about it, as well.
As for Frankie taking a long time to reply - Let's just say his inbox is something I'd not want to deal with, and even my inbox is sometimes hard to catch up to. Sure, I take the time to reply daily but I am also able to do so. Frankie's a community manager, but he doesn't sit in front of the forums all day long (and I'm sure you are aware of that). There is a lot of office work to do, and even I can't get a hold of him at any given time because he's busy handling other tasks. I feel like he does all he can to help and respond to people's concerns, and sometimes is very prompt about it, especially when one of the mods brings it to his attention.
Regardless, I do hope they find a good solution for this "mess". But as a word of advice I'd tell people - Use your common sense. Upon signing the ToS you give PWE permission to do whatever they like with your account, including banning it. Giving them a decent reason to do so is basically no one's fault but your own.
Whether they ban someone or not is to their judgment.
I know its blunt but its a matter of fact.
I don't want to derail this topic too much and hopefully I can assist anyone who's having an issue with the game censoring filter.

They used to allow name changing via opening a ticket, however, it caused issues with the game data of those players so it's no longer an option.
Its probably best to simply not name a character with cuss words to begin with though, and as stated above its no one's fault but the player's if the account gets temp or perma banned due to that.

Tuesday July 19th is the the final day you can send in a ticket about your name being censored.
Also, on a side note, if your name violated the ToS to begin with (like for being a cuss word or racial slur) and got censored out, please do not expect to receive compensation.
Thanks!
Frankie, please remember that most of the players don't even know about the official PWI forum (we get lots of Frosted noobs who think 1pw's data is gospel, for example... I hope that name isn't still verboten here, but yeah. That stale, barely PWI-ized, content is still getting referred to in favor of the official resources... b:shocked).
Also, I never found this thread till it was mentioned in the patch notes, at which point it was too late to get the required screenshot for the ticket. What should people do in that case? I've not seen any posts to that effect. (Nevermind those of us whose tickets just disappear from the system, but that's a whole nother ball of wax...)[sigpic][/sigpic]

i think what I find the most upsetting about all of this is that a player like SlutfromNC is considered a violation of the terms of service and yet had he named himself S1utfromNC he would be fine.. Many people in game have way more offensive names but because they deliberately misspelled it they are perfectly fine. Same with world chat... some of the stuff I have seen on WC is beyond offensive. Racial jokes and slurs, extreme profanity, and when a player from Lost City was killed in rl in a car crash the comments from a rival faction were down right out of line.. Nothing is done to these people. The biggest offenders show up day after day and continue with their "miss" spelling.. This makes the whole system unequal. If **** is unacceptable then S1UT should be too. If ***** is unacceptable then Peenis and **** should be too.. Because these are able to slip by the filter doesn't that make the whole filter obsolete.0
-
Titsania, It's not fine. Its actually a violation - just because they do that doesn't mean its allowed. Its actually just as bad as the rest. Those people need to be reported as well.

We took the risk, it didn't pay off. Gambling is stupid. Sometimes you stand to lose alot. You choose the action; you choose the consequences.
Learn. Take the ban. Apologize. Move on.
Or just move on.0 -
This issue didn't affect my characters, but I still feel the need to say something.
I understand that some of the names out there (like the above veno who seems to remain censored) can be called offensive. But the fact of the matter is, when she (and others) created their characters, that word was not censored. If the word is not censored, obviously people will think it is okay to use.
I believe it is completely unfair to leave people censored if their name was *not* in violation when they created the character. Obviously we were allowed to say s.lut before this new censor was put in place. How, then, was she to know that sometime in the future people would change their mind about that? All she knew when rolling was she typed it in, and it *allowed* her to use it, so it must be okay. To now ban people (or not uncensor them) for something that is YOUR fault in the first place, IS NOT OKAY.
For those people that obviously circumvented the filter to create names, that is a different story. They knew what they were doing.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

My name haven't been fixed yet and its been weeks since this trouble started. So, by now I would just like to know if my name is really going to be fixed or I should just quit this game.
My patience is not eternal and I am losing a big part of the game, all due to the issues of my name and the fail filter.
Since I got an automated message when I got the response of the ticket I submitted, I have no idea about how this trouble is going or if it's really trying to get fixed. So all I want to know is if It'll be fixed ''soon'', or I'll have to keep watching ''Ar*****ho'' as my char name instead of ArchieRho forever. b:surrender0 -

You will most likely have to quit or re-roll. I can give you a possible client-side fix via PM on the forums. Message me, and maybe we can get your issue somewhat resolved. In the end, it's not a 100% fix.
Pretty pathetic if you ask me, that they make players quit or re-roll because they don't know how to fix their own game.0
