Vote for the next PWI Forum Mod!

No matter which forums I'm checking atm, be it PWI or FW, I'm just getting a headache and a huge turnoff seeing all those people doing nothing but QQ all day long, turning this way and that, just to suit their egoism and getting max profit for themselves. It doesn't wanna make me post at all.
We all know our forums need more mods and after that flametastic mod-announcing event/disaster, I am happy that we get the chance to actually VOTE for a new mod. In my opinion the pre-selected community-poll is a good way of doing this, despite all the possible Troll- and Fake-Voting.
We have already seen how well it works out, if the staff just assigns someone they seem fit. To hand the whole choice over to the community would probably end in a flamewar just as epic and people would QQ about the lack of guidance. So this option we were given is right in the middle: the staff decides on a pool of people, which are supposed to be all qualified. And now it is our job, to pick the one, which we think is most appropriate for this position!
Nobody is asking you to agree with ALL of the picks, that's what votes are for!
I gave my vote to Fuzzy. It is sad to see so many people thinking the only qualities he has, is the 3rd-person talk and that there is nothing more to it. I admit when I first joined PWI and stumbled across his posts, this mannerism threw me off, too. But over time I realised, the things he has to say and the way he presents them are way more articulate and coherent than most of the gibberish all the other "first-person-talkers" spout.
Although I grew kinda fond of his way of talking, that is not the reason I picked him. Hell no. And I do feel a little offended that people (especially from other servers) assume I, or all of the other Fuzzy-voters, had that reason alone.
In my experience in the game and on the forums Fuzzy managed to do something I have seen very few achieve. I remember the fun Harpy Wraith "Event" where a huge crowd answered his call and showed up just like that, because he is respected and liked for the way he acts. I have always witnessed him as someone helpful, knowledgable and fair. Someone who does not always put himself first, but instead looks at the bigger picture and tries to bring fun into the game for as many people as possible and get them together as a group instead of enhancing the "me first, me against everyone else-attitude".
And a trait which I really appreciate, because it seems to be pretty much lost on the interwebz and which qualifies him as a mod apart from the other points, is that even if he gets angry or people get annoying, he still doesn't resort to petty name-calling or below the line blows. He can still make his words sting alright and bring across his point pretty sharply.
I believe his special strength lies in putting out potential flames, be it through inserting light-heartedness or not giving in to b:angry and being able to walk the slim line of keeping a good balance.
Wow... how did this turn into such a long post? b:shocked
anyways...

RT > all b:dirty0 -
Are you serious?.... Fuzzy should not allowed to be mod because he talks in third person what kind of BS is that?
To anyone who belives this would be a good enough reason to reject him needs to wake up and ask them selves what they do want.
Airyll and Micheal you both seem very opinionative on the subject of mods if I remember correctly it was you two most active in the "uproar" over the two new mods I can see perfectly here what your doing your long posts and constant dissection of peoples posts is not fooling me in life there are a few people that wield large wooden spoons and like to stir things up as much as possible, I don't think any action taken would please you two you prefer to look like your leading a "rebellion" and only your opinion matters never mind the people who god forbid might have had good experiences with Fuzzy how dare they vote him because his third person speech annoys you.
I know how we can solve this lets just make you two the new mods I dont think you will be happy with anyone else taking such a position as they will either be unknown... to known... talk in third person... have 6 heads .... to over qualified... get my point?
It's quite simple really if you don't like it theres the door ----> Pwi does not revolve around you two and your petty little arguments and will certainly not miss you if you decide to walk through it.
Please take care when discepting this post and try not to get all in my face as I get intimidated easily by people who speak with so much grammar and spelling you must be so powerful b:shocked02/07/2011 - Lost paitence with PWI sold all my gear bought packs and wasted my coin till it was gone... goodbye PWI b:bye0 -
I wish my grandmother had not died in Austria I would have applied for Mod. but my vote wnent to Fuzzy. He's adorable (wish I had joined RT) and thats NOT the reason I voted for him so Ha.0

All those people on their soapboxes going on about how frankieraye can't please the community, and that he is just giving us what we asked for, you just gobbled right up what frankieraye has created.
I personally never advocated for a popularity contest, and nor has many others. The sentiments I got from the community was the need for communication and transparency. For all we know, frankieraye wrote everyone's name on a piece of paper, put it all in a hat, and then pulled six names out; he then sets up a poll, thereby allowing the community a real choice.

I don't care about the way he talks as long as he does his modding job right if he gets chosen. However, some people have been voting for Fuzzy because they like how he talks not because they see how he fits for the job. Some of the people here voting on this poll don't have a clue what this forum needs and just based their vote on a characteristic that wouldn't necessarily make him a good mod. That's actually a very valid reason why some may hate the idea of a public voting as well.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Voting here means nothing since it's quite easy to manipulate the results.
If I wanted to, I could vote three times (since I have 3 accounts here) And nothing could prevent me from vothing a hundred times if I really wanted to.
@ Frankie : If PWI wants to appoint someone as a mod on the forums, lets PWI do it's job and decide who they want as a mod.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If you could actually both read and comprehend what you read, you would notice that I said allowing people to apply for moderator was a brilliant decision. It gave the community what it wanted' the chance for people who were known on the forums to come forward and apply to be a moderator.
What I did not advocate was a piece of **** popularity contest that can be so easily swayed by one or two people voting on dozens of alternate accounts and what I did not advocate was a **** poor decision to let the community vote on who becomes a moderator because it then goes from allowing the community to have some say in what happens to letting the community bull**** results, manipulate everything to the way they want and generally **** stuff up.
I will not take a moderator seriously if they are not able to speak in a grammatically correct way; I'm sure I'm not the only person. If I can't take Fuzzy seriously when he posts normally because of his inability to use proper speech I'll be damned if I take him seriously when he's in a moderating position.
Cry some more that apparently I can't be pleased, because all you've just proven in your crappy post is that you haven't read anything I (or others, as I am not the only person who said this poll was a bad idea and nor is Michael) have actually said. Take your blinkers off.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Keliska - Raging Tide wrote: »o.o Is it me or do I see an idiot in grammar? Fuzzy does in-fact speak proper English.
It's proper English until you consider the fact it's grammatically incorrect every time he addresses himself in the wrong person. Hence, grammatically incorrect.
Otherwise, his posts tend to make a lot of sense. If only I could read one of them all the way through; but his Hamsta-gimmick of speaking in third person tends to cause me to ignore what he has to say after the first few sentences because I don't take it seriously. I did exactly the same with Hamsta too regardless of how popular the little rodent ended up being, and if Hamsta had been voted for mod I'd have said exactly the same thing.
Speaking in third person for personal, fun posts? Fine, go for it. As a moderator? Buckle up and take yourself seriously thanks, because then everybody else might take you seriously too.
And no, the first sentence you put a comma in doesn't need a comma, so you can take that out, and the second sentence you outlined in red is fine too and doesn't need a full stop there either.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Fuzzy is winning because he's a Hamsta gimmick that speaks in third person and because holy **** look he's on RT, meaning everybody on RT just votes for him out of principle.

Problem: he won't just be moderating RT forums, and I shouldn't have to run around checking forum by forum to see what somebody's doing if they're applying to moderate an entire forum.
If Fuzzy was being elected to stay in RT forums and mod all of your little RT players, I'd be fine. Keeps his annoying third person posts out of the boards I frequent, keeps you little RT players happy because you have your mod, everybody wins. But he's being elected to vote an entire forum, not one sub-board.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Ah. My apologies then, I stay out of the server boards that aren't DW or LC.
Although on that note that thread also proves my statement is exactly true as well - others are voting for him just because he's on the same server. =P Which I suppose was really to be expected the instant this turned into a popularity contest poll.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Thus making your point invalid because everybody isn't voting for him just because he's from RT. Agreed?
Biasm is to be expected in every kind of election. I'm pretty sure people voted for Obama just because he's black, but that doesn't make him a illegitimate president0 -
Guys, I'd just like to remind you that that whoever wins the votes will not become a permanent moderator immediately. As Frankie stated in the application topic, the chosen moderator will be given time to prove themselves and will only be moderating some of the sub-forums, and not the entire forum.
Rest assure if the moderator will not meet the requirements and expectations - they will not be a part of our staff.

So, essentially, a moderator who merely "meets expectations" could become a permanent moderator due to a popularity contest, while a much more qualified and better able person could be laid by the wayside due to a popular vote? Yikes...somehow this doesn't seem like the best way to do this.0
