The History of HT (A Discussion)

First off, I don't want this thread to be locked, so keep your flames or whatnot elsewhere. It's a thread to discuss our beloved HT and to have random chats with other players within HT (mainly those who actually go on forums).
To start off, as someone had stated in another thread in the General Discussion section, PWI is made up of 3 generations:
Generation 1: The "old" players that have been in the game since the beginning and had to grind (or zhen & fish) for their current levels and rank/gear. They are the ones who got to experience PWI before it became cash shopped based to survive. You know this game since:
Generation 2: The "mid-aged" players that have been in the game just before the Tideborn classes came out and had a mix of the "old" PWI and the "new" in terms of leveling with oracles. This was when the chest of coins had hit the servers and the in game coin to gold transaction had hit 300k per. You know the game since:
Generation 3: The "young" players that get their levels practically handed to them because of the oracles & hypers & BHs that are readily available to them. They're the ones that tend to not know their own class or how to play it (not all, but some). You know the game since:
Which group do you belong to & what do you miss?
I'm from Generation 1. I came to the game maybe a week or two after it began through a recommendation of a friend from another game. What do I miss? Back when charms cost 350-400k and gold price was 100k. It was easier to obtain goods and people I met from squads during quests became friends with me for a long time rather than how it is now: squad, say hello, do BH, say goodbye, never see the people again.
-
6 classes - 2 human, 2 untamed, 2 elven
-
Gold was in the 100k price range and when it hit 200k you'd shout at the GMs
-
Zhenning & fishing was the way to level without quests
-
PKing amongst factions still existed due to low cost of charms & guardian scrolls
-
Getting to level 60 and having the TT60 weapon was awesome
-
Twilight Temple mats are expensive
-
Being level 80+ was god-like
Generation 2: The "mid-aged" players that have been in the game just before the Tideborn classes came out and had a mix of the "old" PWI and the "new" in terms of leveling with oracles. This was when the chest of coins had hit the servers and the in game coin to gold transaction had hit 300k per. You know the game since:
-
The first 6 classes - 2 human, 2 untamed, 2 elven and the additional 2 Tideborn classes
-
Gold was in the 300k range
-
Oracles was the "fastest" way to level
-
Supply Chest was introduced to the game
-
PKing existed in squads, but there were less people to PK due to a higher charm & guardian scroll cost
-
Anniversary packs version 1 had just arrived to the game
-
Twilight Temple starts to get overfarmed but the green mats still have value
-
Being level 90+ was god-like
Generation 3: The "young" players that get their levels practically handed to them because of the oracles & hypers & BHs that are readily available to them. They're the ones that tend to not know their own class or how to play it (not all, but some). You know the game since:
-
Gold is in the 300-500k range
-
Bounty Hunter was introduced to the game
-
Hypers was introduced to the game
-
Anniversary packs keep coming out with a name change
-
Twilight Temple green mats hold little to no value
-
Nirvana was introduced to the game
-
Having event gear means you are "well geared"
-
Being level 100+ doesn't mean a thing
Which group do you belong to & what do you miss?

Generation 1, started not long after PWI launched, with an epic 98k ish gold price and where a lvl 80 was godlike o.o
Doing quests was harder too actually looking for more people to do a boss which is now a 1 shot <.<

You talking about the 3-3 gold TT99 Illusion Stone chest boss? And why'd you move from Sanctuary to HT? :OI call it how I see it.

Gen 1 but i was a hell'a slow lvler because i did nothing but mess about ^^
my 1st fashion set was the sundrop set which i bought it all for 700k was so happy =D0 -

b:chuckle more like, you know that mini boss in city of the plume, the flying one? Back then i spent hours finding people to do it, cuz i was squishie
And I moved to HT because some friends were here (even tho i left a fun faction there behind UV , they're still around I think)"One of the most important factors, not only in military matters but in life as a whole, is ... the ability to direct one's whole energies towards the fulfillment of a particular task." - Field Marshal Erwin Rommel

Semi same. You know how when people have a running race, most of the time it's a full sprint in the beginning and then it semi-starts to slow down towards the end? Yeah, that's how my gameplay was for me.
As for fashion, my first set was my black fairy set (which I still have). Come to think of it, I only have 2 full "sets" of fashion. Actual black fairy set, and a modification of red fairy set (red fairy top, xmas gloves & boots).Asmodiel - Heavens Tear wrote: »b:chuckle more like, you know that mini boss in city of the plume, the flying one? Hm.. City of Plume flying boss... you mean that one by the "lake" or whatever? No wait, that one is for Elf class only I think.. no clue what you're talking about. It's been a while since I was a lowbie.
:O Real life friends or people that you played in Sanctuary with decided to move to HT?I call it how I see it.

Well....it was on Sanc, i started a cleric so yea, it's that archer-type boss.

Now you make more sense. I know what boss you're talking about, but since you didn't say it was from an elf class quest, I wasn't sure. And I notice that you're playing/played the 2 more needed classes of the game. :OI call it how I see it.

Somewhere between G1 and G2 myself (end of February). Can't really say I miss cheap gold, because I didn't have any reason to buy gold until it was 400k-ish.
EDIT: Apparently I'm G1[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I do miss the semi-constant FB runs we had back in Radiance when we had chatroom 1 a good majority of the time. And that's when the newbies associated Radiance with the good people. Nowadays the newbies just have their faction run it for them instead of asking for help with it in chatrooms. Man, I remember having lots of "customers" that fed me a good amount of reputation. Miss those days.I call it how I see it.

ahaha im part of g1. unforatently sticky got banned. i remember playing during closed beta with agroup of friends, we moved from another game. haha i rememer my first tw in ely against roc. so unorganized, it was just "meet at x, find a party, and RAAAGEEE PUUUSSSSSHHHH." lulz ftw.
then i remember being apart of the first real "pkers" on the server. ahahaha radiance was so pissed when me and please started pking. i remember the pk parties at fishing and zhen spots. ahhhhhh was so much fun.

By the definition listed in the original post I am generation 1. Started out in October 2008 soon after the PWI servers were opened. Came to this game because a friend from another game recommended it. Also the reason I played a wizard first is because he did. Wanted a mentor so that was the simplest way to get one. Made this character 2 months later and got him to Lv: 100 8 months after that. Back then that was considered leveling fast. In as you defined generation 3 times if you spend enough money it isn't difficult to be Lv: 100 in a month. I tend to enjoy long term games where the effort you put in means something. Something I would like this game to regress to but I know that is unreasonable to think that it will.

DeathBanana broke the combo. Gogo G1 players!
I miss it when running TTs was pretty profitable. Back then I thought that if I got mats that were worth less than 800k in a run, it meant that it was a crappy run for me. Now getting 400k in a TT run is considered decent.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I think I'm generation 2.....
I started this game out in March of '09.
I remember gold at 100K or so, Gold Charms at 300K. Hmmmm zhenning was my hyper EXP back then.
Grinding back then was actually worth it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I am definitely generation 1, I was here before closed beta and this character was created not even a minute after the server first opened for open beta.
Things I miss:
Affordable gold prices. Sure I could still afford them now but new players can't and they are who I worry about.
Not needing the best gear.
Back then, +12 gear was considered impossible, and if you actually had TT gear you were considered a good player since it was quite rare at the time. No one really cared what gear you had, they were more than happy to have you in their party if you were the class they needed.
TW being fun.
Back when everyone was fighting over the TW map, it was worth doing. Not so much anymore with 3-4 factions always there, though we do have it better than any other server, at least last time I checked a few months ago.
Rep was hard to get, levels were hard to get.
Getting 200,000 reputation was considered impossible, it should have remained as such. Getting that should be something that almost no one ever does, like getting a warsoul weapon.
Leveling up was much harder when I started and it was more fun as a result. Players actually knew what they were doing since they had to learn their class as they leveled.Main characters
Celestial Sage Venomancer Zoe - 100
Sage Barbarian Malego - 910 -
Generation 1, was on the game the moment it started. Started in PW-MY but the lag was bad and after 8 months maybe there was very happy to see PWI come.
I leveled fast at first then just kinda poofed out on it trying to help others more than leveling myself.
I liked that meta, zahara, neoz, and I (2 others I forgot their names. sorry) showed PWI that you could beat jewelscan at the quest level and we were the first team to kill him on this server. I do miss meta and Z...very good players along with blessing.
being in the first PVE TW with TheEmpire...they were not very well organized and I remember people asking what squad they were in and what path with the leader not saying much but for all to just go in. It was fun and a mess, didn't matter if they didn't win, it was still fun.
I miss the old prices of things and the value that was on the gear and the work you put into it, not the gold you bought it for.
My first outfit was the pants (shop) and the bikini top I dug up in DP the first day it opened, when it was hard to get them and you had to work as a team to get them.
PWI seems very solo now. You do party up for stuff but people don't friend over it anymore. I miss the old days...but guess it is the growth of this game. Could do without the greed of game and players.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

this is what i agree with, i wasn't here for the closed beta but i was here shortly after the servers opened.
the game was nothing but fun and time well spent, even if u spent the afternoon slacking off with friends exploring land and killing mobs it was still considered fun.
i only wish we could have the game we knew back once again, but i know its a empty dream0 -
Gen 1 on Lost City, i changed to HT because i used up all the character slots on my account and was waiting for the **** characters to delete, i never went backb:pleasedTheEmpire
