I'ma VERY Successful HA PVP Veno ... I TW every single week and have for a long time. I don't see how .... a pure Axe Veno could be effextive at all, I mean, I use my Magic for everyythign and I use my Heavy armor to my advantage in fox form with a magic weapon taht has a good physical attack. My physical attack is over 6k unbuffed, AND I can skill. ... Skills are what set you apart from runnign around and whakcing stuff over and over. But hey to each their own, Irun around with Calamities for kicks in TW, then I bust out mt TT90 Pataka and SMACK drop people.

I don't see anything wrong with being a pure melee veno. In fact, I once had an idea of making an HA fist veno, no magic whatsoever. But then I realized something. Even using fists, this veno would be inferior to an HA veno wielding a magic weapon, and attacking in fox form.

So, while it may be fun for some to use axes, using an at-level magic weapon is simply more effective. (even if it is a statistical nightmare)

heh...and before anyone ask about the wrist and orns, it's for -interval. too bad there aren't magic swords with -0.1s interval attributes, and too bad their demon sparks don't give an attack speed boost. it's also too bad that they only gain 4 chi/attack as opposed to the bms' 5. this is why you wouldn't go "only melee" with a veno. they have pets for a reason

/facepalm. I stopped reading at that part when she said she doesn't know what a pet is. I play a heavy / arcane veno and I still rely on the pet for DDing when I'm tanking in foxform.

Coincidentally I tanked Wurlord in 2-3 in foxform earlier with 2 clerics healing. Even with 2 clerics I was still potting away in case the clerics lag. Having played a veno I would have thought that the first rule learned is how to stay alive. It doesn't mean that with clerics in the squad we can just throw caution to the winds and just rely on them. They're still humans operating a computer communicating via signals transmitted through landlines. Lag still plays a part sooner or later.

Heck if my veno dies, res and just move on. We live and learn from our mistakes. It's not the end of the world. Some people treat this game like world domination. b:shocked

Omg, I seriously lol'd at that petless veno, I mean, really now, when I first started I had issues with moving the cam around even xD, but I've read the forums, the quests, talked to all the NPCs and explored stuffs. She was clearly on a bought account and very recently I may add. It's impossible to ignore seeing others like you with an animal following them, isn't it? ;x All in all=spoiled brat who thinks she/he's better than everyone and doesn't even know their own class and are also UNWILLING to learn. Just fail.

On a side note, if someone wants to wear axes as a veno, their choice tbh, yeah nerfing the char from the magic point of view, but who know, they developed a tactic of their own that allows them to survive and makes it fun even! I admit I couldn't do it and it makes me twitch at the thought, but that's just me. xD

Im heavy/arcane because it offers really high mag/phy defense compared to La armor. But i still have a god damn +10 CV wand so i can kill people in pvp LOL. Magic naturally hits harder in pvp in this game, range naturally has far more benefits than mele in pvp to. So i have no clue why you wanna gimp you're veno into being only mele, unless its "for fun". I mean you can build an arcane- or bowbarbarian for fun to.

Foxform is for curses or debuff or stuns/seals. Sure as hell not for dealing dmg O_O

How many times do I have to say this. I DON'T PVP and it's JUST a game so who cares what someone does with their class. If you don't agree with how they built their character then don't squad with them.

Oi that veno in the OP's post is just utter fail . - . To play your class in a different way than the 'norm' is one thing, but to be completely oblivious to a major aspect to that class itself makes me wonder how someone like that can function in the real world. Makes me sad that veno is on the same server as I ><;;;


On the topic of HA, axe wielding venos, or anything similar, I see no issue with people playing the way they want...as long as it's done right. What really grinds my gears is when you get the total morons (example, say an arcane wearing barb) who rush in like they're superman/girl, get owned, and then start raging about how everyone and their brother is a fail. It's times like those I wish my keyboard had a button, then made a fist crash through the offenders monitor and punch them so hard, what little bit of brains they had flew out of the back of their skull.


Basically put, if you read the game info on classes, check class forums, not matter which way you slice the pie, your class choice has a specific role/primary way to play, that optimizes their abilities. True just about any class can tank or dd or whatever, but that doesn't mean they should. All the more power to those who can successfully, and I stress the word success here, pull off a build that breaks outta the box, but for the rest of the dipwits out there: re-check your classes role. If you don't meet the requirements, or don't want to, do us all a favor and not only tell your squad that, but DON'T try to play that role either (no mr arcane barb, do not rush into that boss and start swinging please), that way we can work around it. If people want to be unique and just have fun doing whatever, at least have the common sense to know what you can and can not do, and if you lack the smarts, check yourself and what you did before calling anyone else but yourself a fail.

No no no you're right. I do happen to know what a pet is and have a few in the weird off chance that I DO have to lure. And I don't go around blaming people for my own mistakes..we all know our strengths and weaknesses if we played however we did right.

Like say I was to go up again..hmmm Raving Drake Brute..I'm not gonna run in guns a blazing thinking I can take him on my own...not only is he magic...but I'd probably die anyways.

What my point is to all these people is not the fact that I AM melee..they are so quick to assume that it's total fail and not even bother asking how well it works. So quick to think that just because I don't have skills I can't do anything =/

To Marian: I can completely understand what you mean. I hate to admit, for a short while I was guilty of being automatic 'no that's wrong' kinda guy, I chaulk it up to the many people I've met who just had no idea what they were doing. But I have changed my stance, and you further made me glad I have, seeing someone who not only took something out of the box but also knows what to do and how to do it gives me a bit of hope back. Melee mechanics are generally similar (if not the same, though it rarely happens in pwi). A decent amount of strength, mixed with a good accuracy & crit value, toss in berserking (or sacrificial strike as it's now called...bleeeeeh) like with calamity's or lionhearts and the potential for numbers are grand, skills have nothing to do with it. Any melee dd class worth his or her salt knows skill spam during fights that count (ie bosses) = **** for dps. Debuffs through amp, mire, extreme poison/subsea strike, & HF should go up, then just wail away, especially if you have lots of -ibh >=D (sorry if this doesn't make much sense, it's 6am and I've been working all night @-@).

That chest, legs and adorn is impossible to get on a Venomancer as it is rank 8 equipment for Barbs.

Not to mention my level 92 heavy veno already does more damage than that in fox form with a magic sword. 4244 avg p.atk vs. 4550 avg for level 100 the axe veno, but I get 1.54 atk/sec, vs. 0.95 for the axe veno. That puts my raw DPS at 6536, while the axe veno is getting 4323.

I also get 11k pdef with 4k mdef, and have access to all my skills and spells if needed (4772 avg mag attack with magic rings).

Like I said, if you're going to do an axe veno, do it for fun. Not because it's effective.

an PW-MY, I had an archer and used swords and HA.It was my first MMO ever, so I can understand how people get lost. Getting to lvl85 though might not be hard with just melleing as a veno.
