DO I think something big will happen? Yes. But not for the reasons so many others believe. I think that there will be a global lapse in economy due to the people who quit their jobs with enough saved up to last till 2012. I hate self-fulfilling prophecy. Which is exactly what this BS is. Mass panic and paranoia caused by the prediction will create the event that was predicted.

Look at the history of the Mayan calendar. It's ended several times in the past. When that happened, this amazing thing happened. It started over. Just like our calendars today. Does the world end on December 31 every year? NO! We move on to January 1 of the next year. Imagine that.

Superstition and belief in ideals without any underlying proof has steered humanity far longer than I would think possible. We're driving on wet roads here, and one slip of the wheel can send us flying. Study the history and facts, and we will understand far more than we do now. Denial of the truth does nothing but protect the beliefs that so many hold so dear, for no reason other than that it was what they were taught to believe.

Everyone is so certain that they KNOW what is going to happen, whether it be after death, or when the world ends. We can only learn the truth by accepting that we DON'T know all the answers, and do some actual STUDIES to find the truth. Not by reading some book or carvings on stone (which were both created by humans who, like today, want to act as though they know all the answers).

The more research I've done, the more it seems unlikely. But then again, isn't that what education does? That's why they poisoned Socrates (poor guy).

By the way, Kit, I definitely looked up those verses you gave me for the bible, but the prophecy doesn't quite end on 26.

IF this was the prophecy that pertains to our current, upcoming time, than is it safe to say that 27 and 28 describe the events that take place after we reach our lowest point? So, assuming that 25 and 26 refer to the increasing natural disasters, we men (I've deduced that this would be aimed at the human race rather than all animals on the planet) will enter a new era.

As for the Mayans' Calendar, it is simply ending the "Long Cycle" which means a new one is to begin. The Mayan's prophecy for the end of this long cycle was that we'd enter a new age (like, we're currently in the Information Age) and that our mentalities as a human race will mature from materialistic to spiritualistic.

This is, however, just the prophecies aspect of the situation. Other theories deals with the solar flares of the sun and Planet Nibiru (also known as Planet X) will collide with Earth. But, there is scientific evidence and data out there that Planet X simply does not exist, and there have been solar flares before - along with the galactic alignment, so both of those do seem extremely unlikely.

If there was anything to happen, I would expect it to be from some fanatic blowing something up because humans are pretty dangerous. Panic is a scary thing. Hell, ever been to a Walmart on a Black Friday? I lost my mom in there once and got scared and cried in line, LOL (I was also like... 10 years old and 4 feet tall >.> )

I don't think anything will happen. I personally think the Mayans just got lazy and stopped writing the calendar.

I truly dont think they would have just kept on writing it indefinitely, otherwise they would still be doing so today.

On a side note, have you guys seen the movie 2012? Its not worth the 2 1/2 hours at all.

It depends. If things get rocky around that time, then yes. If things are just fine then no. But the cool thing would be if it is the end of the world, I get to hang with Jesus and actually see him. I wonder if it's ok to say "What's up G?" errr... "J?" Will he take offense to that?b:shocked or would he facepalm...

Can't tell for sure. Maybe and maybe not. The Mayans are just one peoples and it really can't be written in stone by them (No pun intended). So a no, but it would be cool (X-ing the whole world end plus the "Anti" dude.).

The world begins a new era as stated before... A whole new calender cycle, to which the mayan's calender will still be applicable from start to finish, again.

That being said, the calender also takes 3 year's to click back into its first proper location, 3 years they didnt dare to predict.

In 2015, the change is over, complete, and the cycle of life continue's following the same predictions the Mayan's predicted in their astrological cycle.

This is not to say we dont live, technology doesn't exist, etc etc...

Every single Mayan prediction was accurate, but on an extremely low scale. They predict everything through careful wording and keep it open, in every scenario. Dates of world strife include the start and end dates of world war 1. All of this they discovered from the astrological cycle.

They also had a map with their calender, to blow a few minds. They had antarctica plotted to perfect precision as if done with a satellite, of the land BELOW THE ICE. They also had several other large islands perfectly mapped, although travel there at the time was preposterous.

The Mayans were amazing, and correct with their end dates, but most of you are right: The world will not end. Simply go through a period of extreme change and POSSIBLE disaster, in order to restore and restart the cycle of life.

Pollution, the planet's damage... All this is BS. We're suppose to pollute, its in the cycle. The planet will fix what we have done, and start anew. The PLANET I say, not us.
