Im so not understanding why u guys shard garnets ._.

its only (at most) a 7% difference of physical resistance vs 1,000 hp if you did citrines.

even if someone would hit you for 10,000 physical damage (<-ha), thats only 700 damage reducted from that. I'd rather have 1000 more hp than 700 less phys damage..

Someone explain if im missing something <_<

HP is perfect to shard Early and Midgame for Clerics, unlike wizards or Venos who have a selfbuff which grants them like +100% pdefence, clerics only get a all class buff of 70%.

When it comes to Late and endgame, its all about stopping the Oneshots. DPS from demon spark or certian demon skills can oneshot a pure HP sharded cleric, were as if you shard Defence, theres much less chance of being oneshot, at 9x+ the Grade of Gears becomes effective enough to get all the HP boosts from refines alone.

Because you can get your HP through Refinement.

If you are full mag, you lose the pdef by not putting in vit. Vit (on top of hp) will add to your pdef.

but in those links those were (late game) 90-100 gear.

If you look at the % of the resistance for physical resist. the 7% difference if you shard citrines instead of garnets, imo, You'd have a better chance to survive a "1 shot" if you have more extra HP

Example: you have 6000 hp with a 62% phys resist value (fully sharded garnets) and say that someone hits u for 6,000 damage with a physical shot (a 1 shot)

now.. if you fully sharded citrines instead you'd have 1,000 more HP (according to my earlier provided links)

^ you have 7000 hp with 55-56% physical resist value. a 7 % physical resist difference. 7% of that 6,000 damage (1shot) is 420

so thats a grand total of 6420 damage youd take if you were fully citrined. leaving you with roughly 600 hp left, negating the one shot.

Im not going to understand your views on garnets until u provide some type of example...

I died 10x more in PvP with more HP then I have since I sharded with pdef.

To each there own, but the pdef imo gives better survivability, as long as you have the right refines.

To answer the Simple Question of Light Armour Vs Arcane heres 2 Builds i designed, Both r exactly the same Refine and Gem level wise so theres no biased info for one, this is a build for the average Cashshopper & Farmer too.


Light Armour:

Pros:
600 More Physical Resistance, which is 3% Reduction.
308 More HP.
6% More Critical Hit
0.2 M/ Sec faster.

Vit Arcane with Physical Defence shards:

Pros:
3,600 More Magical Resistance, which is 9% Reduction.
1,200 More MP.
850 more Magical attack on Lower and Higher Values.

i find, at the later and end Game Magic is the bigger threat to be killed by. also when reading the above, for a cleric bear in mind Plume Shell is a OP skill to prevent death via Melee.

You know the funny thing about clerics and pdef/HP. When they calculate it they say HP is better in survivability, but when hp sharded clerics change to pdef shards i hear more say their survivability has increased considerably.

They say they have more survivability but I haven't seen any calculations/proof "why" they have more survivability.

Don't take this as me being argumentative I'm just looking for the facts to back this up.

Unless I'm doing some math wrong in my example, HP would be the better choice.

i know. Thats why im saying its interesting. When shard switching clerics give their opinions, the one that has the better rep is the unproven one somehow.

unless something in the game doesnt pay attention to the phys resist% to make garnets a better choice, unno..

Depends vs what you are looking for.

You encounter high hitting psy AoE, then more %p.def works better then HP.
On other hand, if you never are in such situations then HP would be better.

Now the tricky part is if you do both, then finding the balance is like finding a needle in a hay stack >.>

True....I was VERY skeptical in regards to pdef but once I changed I noticed a huge difference in survivability....mainly in PvP tbh. Sounds odd, but it is true. b:surrender

^ I will agree with you on the balance part. it just depends on what you are going to be doing. The fact is though as 101...you are doing pretty much everything. So far the situations in which HP "should" have made a difference...do not because regardless it would not have made a difference. Whereas, situations in which pdef would matter, it has made a huge difference. b:surrender

Seriously though....with Archers, BM's and Barbs -- a huge difference. I can last a lot longer and actually survive more then a few hits even when stun locked (/rage).

I wish I could explain it to you Bob but the fact is I cannot. I always hated the idea of not using HP b/c I thought that HP was the factor that kept you alive. But now I am convinced - decent refines with HP and Pdef shards imo (now) = WIN!!
