Ok I give you very useful advice. Be prepare to be death very often as a pure mage. This is price for high attack damage, but low survivability. Especially 1-70lv you will be as pure death very often. So take always with you angels.

This is not the case to everyone. I've only died 3-5 times during my way to 70 (Not counting bossesb:chuckle). I am an Arcane, this is my first character and I do not buy ZEN. Just learn to kite and learn your character well and you'll do fine. So don't be discouraged. ^^

Been playing for only 2-3 months, so don't go by me, but some tips that I've gone with and helped me.

    About shields:
-Level up Glacial Embrace (Water Shield). It helps ALOT and saved me tons on MP pots. You probably won't need to meditate for mana alot. In my opinion, this is more universal than Earth Shield.

-Earth Shield is fine. Didn't helped me a heap though. I only use it when I'm up against archer-type monsters or PVP-ing. It only reduces like 50-70 damage.

-Pyro Shield. Never found this to be usefull so far, just get it to level 1.

    Heal:
-Morning Dew - Level this whenever it dosen't heal you to full HP, at 70 I have it at 3, probably going to 4 soon. Use this after 1 or 2 monsters if you get hit. Usually heals you to full HP.

    Nukes:
-Level Divine Pyro to 3 or 4, since after that you will get Sandstorm, which is more usefull. Start leveling DPyro when you start PVPing.

-Sandstorm. Max this. Hands down on one of the best skills.

-Glacial Snare. Try to level this after Sandstorm. It overpowers Sandstorm in higher levels, but the downside is the high cooldown time.

I'll try to add more tips later :).
As I said before, this is my own opinion that has helped me. b:laugh

Earth Barrier isnt good ? Dude hav u been sharding with Pdef shards and usin Pdef belts so u hav some Pdef to use ? At lvl 10 it doubles ur Pdef So it Helps Alot for any Physical damage u might Take,Be it PvP or jst mobs..

at lvl 68 i hav my heal lvl 8.. i know it might of been a waste but i can heal a tank for bh51 and anything below (havent tried 59+ yet)
i know im not meant to but its useful if somthing happens cleric.. And i can cast heal once on myself and i hav full hp so i can use it ina combo with sutra.. Attack > Attack > Heal ... instant full hp and 2 nukes gone off b4 it..

I didn't say it is bad... read again. ;p

And yes, I am using fully Average Pdef Shards and Pdef Belts. I'm changing to Citrine for my L70 set as it just dosen't provide a large difference, at least to me. I prefer Glacial Embrace for day to day grinding/questing.

    I am too prefer Citrine.

Pure arcane Wizard has his proper high magic defense (at arcane gear) and high magic attack and if he will be with his proper low health ... he will be dead from one hit.

Don't level Divine Pyro... it's completely useless until 59. It's not a good opener because of it's short range, sure as hell not worth the spirit and money considering you should have better things to use spirit on at those levels.

Skills like Divine Pyro, Glacial Snare, Force of Will, etc. should be left at 1 until a lot later.
Wondering how much longer these **** packs are going to be around.

just play ur wiz max the base moves u'll eventully understand what u want to lvl and what u want to lvl later on eventully u will have enough spirit to max almost all of ur skills and u dont need to worry about pvp for a while dont refine 2 soon just when u get to rb gamma u might want to boost ur hp abit if u want to get inv to squads most ppl look for 3k hp minimum unbuffed good luck wiz is really nice to play some think its hard to lvl i found it quite easy to lvl as a noobie its really matter of who plays it and dont listen to ppl that say wiz is gimp class their not, gimp is the person that play the class have fun :P

oh and if u die alot on pve just renmber gush alot run if their 2 close if u are pure mag u will have the dmg to take them down before they hit u. and once u have will of the phonix and force of will mobs wont ever touch u (outside fb)

So basically I should leave the heal at 1 until it stops fully healing me in 1 cast and as for Divine Pyro just leave that at 1 until at least 59.

What should I use as a starter if Divine Pyro is not good enough no more?

I have always used Gush as an opener since I got it. It slows down the monster, then you can use another skill and so on.
If you're talking about something similar to DPyro, its Sandstorm. You'll get it at L29 and it's one of the best hard hitting skill or a "Nuke".

    And yes about Morning Dew.

You'll need to change your attacking pattern for almost every monster, experiment on which skills kills the monster most efficiently.

If you're just considering solo grinding/questing, yes; for a support role (no cleric in squad/cleric down) you should max out Morning Dew so you can heal the tank in one cast.
