Bound Charms

I like the 25,50,75 + bind idea.
Honestlly, I'm a cleric that doesn't use charms (at least no mp charms). Why? They tick WAY too high. It makes a lot of my skills pointless since I get them for mp reasons and well...
Why have a skill that recovers 10% of your mp when by the time you use it, it will probably set off the charm anyways? (not literally, but I'm sure you know what I mean)0 -
My 2 cents...
Keep Bind
HP charm 25% and 50%
MP charm 10%, 25%, 50%, and 75%
HP charm can be set to tick at 75% it will make the infamous "2" shot next to impossible. for example lets say you have 5k HP first someone hits your for 2k normal and second for 3.5k on a crit.. your dead... with it ticking at 75% that goes away.
MP charms should also get the most variety because you control the useage rather than the attackers. Barbs BMs and archers typically use pots only because with an MP charm they tick almost every skill really draining the MP. If they had an option for 10% they could sit and rest or use pots to extend the life of a charm.
Issue that PWE will find with this is with the options of lower % of charm ticks... they make less money off charm sales, sooo it would be very surprising to see this ever implimented.

That would make my HP charm last me over one year for a single gold one if I were to set it at 25% or less... and I am sure if I were to get a MP one it would last me pretty much forever at 25%....
Er...how would that make an HP charm last a year? Lower percent=More HP used when ticks=Just as fast loss of charm.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I will give the run down...
well its a pretty simple concept really...
Its called suplimenting potions, meditation and other methods of healing BEFORE the charm ticks. Sooo basically if you have a lower percentage before the charm tick you stand a better chance of "catching" your charm before it ticks...
which..
all together now...
saves the charm!0 -

Bingo. In Ice's case, she's a Veno. Which means she has many, many ways of keeping both her HP, and MP up. So having a charm that ticks when she wants will allow her to only use it when she's really in any danger of dying.0 -

On my Veno I always Let my MP go down to about 5% before i do the (well-known by Venos) trick of Natures Grace (restores 50% MP) > Soul Transfusion (assuming HP was maxed, you now have maxe MP & 55%ish HP) > Metabolic Boost (final 50% restoration of HP for full HP). I can not stand having an MP charm equipped. If i had a charm i could set to 1% (or i'd even accept 5% and catch my MP at 6-8% with the above), then i could have it only tick when my MP got drained before 5 minutes expire and i dont have any MP restoration items. Then, for TW (where death can remove you MP quicker) or other high MP use situations i could turn it up and only guzzle the MP charm when needed. With MP charms set to 75%, my Natures Grace is rather... useless.0 -
I am with spoons on this matter. Hate charms, ruins the game (PvP, TW).b:dirty0

I agree that it would in most cases reduce charm sales.
But the MP charm ticking at 75% has stopped me ever even considering buying one. (The green one you get in supply stash taught me that it would just plain keep ticking when I didn't need it to)
If I had one that ticked at 25% or even 50%, then I would probably buy one.
It would last me AGES, but it's one more sale than they'd get otherwise.
Similarly, I'm holding out on equipping a new HP charm. I mean, yes, it saves me in a sticky situation. But more often than not it ticks pointlessly, saving me when I don't need to be saved, or even more annoyingly ticks and then I die very shortly afterwards and it ticks again when I come back to life.
I'd estimate maybe 10% of my charm actually helped me. Which is a pretty costly ratio. At a lower tick I'd probably want to have more of them.0 -
I would never use those charms unless it was required, merely because the reason being PKed doesn't bother me is because I don't carry dolls and have no charm to tick when I come back to life. If I had a charm that was wasted every time I was PKed, I wouldn't be so easygoing about it b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

some time before i played Jade Dynasty. There i got an item from quest to recover HP like the 10000 HP/MP Charm u get at the beginning from the jump/fly quest.
This Item doesnt tik at percentage but u could use it like a HP Potion and it recovered your HP to full. It had like 15k HP on it as i remember.
i would like to have something like this here for MP charms at least.0 -
yeah, good idea, but they will never do it in PWI. Why? Just because it is what is is.
I'm not dueling anymore just because of that. Although fun, duels are charm ****. At the current HP charm cost, **** duels.____________

"Popular demand" demands a change on charms lol0

In pwi "popular demand" actually means popular among the devs, not the players.0

i'm sure if they changed charms to work in the ways posted above, they would change the gold price to fit it...say doubleb:chuckleCarebear0

I'd really like the ability to set a tick level on my charm because I use magic for everything as a cleric. Attacks, heals, all of it. And a high tick = a much higher rate of usage when I could have just sat down and meditated or used a potion to conserve it while grinding. Or better yet, an on/off button too. That way if someone ran up and started beating on me in RPK I could turn it off and go from there. No 3k charm tick when I come back to life(and those stupid manadrain mobs, I won't touch those unless I have a veno buddy with me. On my BM I seriously would not do a quest on killing them if I had an MP charm. Just a waste.); right now I won't touch a charm with a ten foot pole because PK just drains it and I seriously lack an income of either RL money or In Game Coin to replace the stupid thing once a week or less.
I spare charms for heavy grinding or spam heal times.
Another previously mentioned subject from JD was the, well, basically one giant pot. click it, restore your health/mana at will. Now that would be awesome. Take a second more to activate it but there would be a choice between clicking it or leaving it, which would make it better in some cases than a conventional charm with an auto tick especially for Mana in my case.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Call me old school, but I rarely if ever use charms in game, the bulk of my hp and sp regen comes from potions.
I wish I had SP regen, it would make skill-buying so much easier. b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Where do you buy the charms? I'm a cleric and they are lifesavers (literally), but I can't figure out where to get them from.0

Cash shop. Press "O". Or buy it from cat shops from other players.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

you're still using the same amount of charm, regardless of what level you would set it to. 3k taken from it 5 times is exactly the same as 15k taken from it once...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
