Hello hello! Well the first ever PWI Picture Hunt went off with only a few minor delays. The turn out was much better than expected on most servers, and some winners came down to less than a minute apart! Some of you may have chosen to start searching from the first hint, and others may have waited until the coordinates went up in hopes that you could beat the mad dash that ensued. Did your tactics work? Well you will soon find out.

Congratulations to all of the winners of this contest, whether it was by an inch or a mile, we salute you. There were so many participants that we couldn't possibly post the runners up for each server, you fought the good fight and many of you came very close to victory, we hope to see you at our next event! Friday, June 19th at 2pm (PST) for East Coast servers, 4pm (PST) for West Coast servers.
So if you're on the east coast that's 5PM for you!

This Friday, GM's will be hiding out in undisclosed locations with cat shops up, if you manage to be one of the first to track them all down you will be rewarded. We will be taking pictures of our secret locations on each server and posting them as hints on the forum. The first image will be very small, and it will take a seasoned veteran to distinguish our locations. The second picture will be slightly bigger, giving you a better idea of the secret location, and the third will be a fully zoomed out screenshot. If that isn't enough, we will post the coordinates 30 minutes after the first image has been posted.

The first player to reach all three locations and buy the mystery item (one per player per GM shop) will be the winner.

Here's a quick breakdown on how this works:

* The first picture of each location will be posted in a sticky on the forums.
* Ten minutes after the first image is posted, the second image will be posted.
* Ten minutes after the second image is posted, the third image will be posted.
* Ten minutes after the third image is posted, the coordinates will be posted as a final hint
* The first three players to visit all three locations and buy the item at any point during the hint-giving process will be the winners!

What you'll be doing:
* Watching the hints, and trying to find each shop (no particular order)
* Going to the shop and buying ONE item from each shop.
* trying to get all 3 before everyone else.

What you WON'T be doing (prohibited behavior):
* Do NOT purchase more than one item from each shop, we want to give everyone a chance to participate.
* Do NOT PK anyone in the vicinity of the GM shops.
* Do NOT intentionally block the shop with large mounts, pets, etc.

What you may choose not to do(your choice):
* Collaboration is allowed, but there is only one winner.
* You are not required to help other users with this event, posting hints may not be advisable if you want to win.
* Running in groups is allowed, but you'll have to fight to be the first if you do.

If you are lucky enough to be the first, you will win our grand prize! Second and third places will also receive something for their troubles. What's the grand prize? A new limited edition flying mount!

This thread will remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding the event. Please don't spam up this thread.

question: If a person is the second person to buy the item at the first shop, the third to buy at the second shop, but the first to buy at the last shop, they are the winner?

answer: Yes. The first person to possess all three, in any order, is the winner. So if you're the first to buy from 2 shops, and someone manages to buy from those two AND beats you to the final shop they win and not you.


question: Also, are there a total of 3 shops or is the last shop (4th shop) revealed through coordinates rather than a picture? If there are 3 shops, do you mean that the coordinates of all the shops will be revealed after the picture is shown for the 3rd, and final, shop?

answer: There are three shops, all three will be hinted at at the same time. i.e. in the first round all 3 hints will be posted at the same time, ten minutes later the second round of hint images will be posted for all three shops, etc.

After the Summer months Pacific Time is shifted back by 1 hour to US Pacific Standard Time (PST) or (GMT-8).

Is the winning condition buying the 3 items from the 3 cat shops or is it turning 3 items in? Like if you are in a group of 3 and everyone goes to a different shop and gets 1 item and gives it to one person did that person win?

Are you going to disqualify people who buy more than 1 item from the cat shop?

I didn't say you can't PK en route, but if a lowbie manages to get to the shops I want to give them a fair shot you know? I can't stop you from PKing in the world, but if we see you doing it at a shop you lose, and you may suffer a fate worse than death depending on which GM catches you.

What about something where more people actually got a chance to get something, lower levels too and its more a decent price you get?

I like the idea of this event, but theres no chance I will take part cause I know its all rushing for nothing lol

So... at 11 a.m. Forum Time, PST = 12 p.m. and Netherlands (GMT+1) = 9 p.m. Nine hour difference.

East Coast Servers start at 2 pm PST, add 9 hours for Netherlands = 11 pm.
West Coast Servers start at 4 pm PST, ad 9 hours for Netherlands = 1 am.

PST is currently GMT - 8.
EST is currently GMT - 5.

The fact of the matter is, if you have an event where you give our 20 prizes or something they have very little value and give the winner very little satisfaction. We're going to do our best to hold events more frequently so that everyone can get a shot at winning something. The unfortunate truth is that the point of an event is to have a winner and a loser, if everyone won it would be no fun.

Thats true, yes but what about combining both types of events? For example one event like the picture hunt right now and then some other event where everybody can get something. I didnt want to say you should abandon the big events, maybe adding both types would be the best way.

And by the way, I think what counts with an event is the fun, not first the price you get lol But many people only see the price and get a bit unsocial...

Imo an event should be fun too, not only a rush to the uber price you may get b:surrender

I disagree. Christmas event, new years event, valentine event. All had interesting quests and rewards for all who participated. They added significant content to the game. No winners / losers there.

So... at 11 a.m. Forum Time, PST = 12 p.m. and Netherlands (GMT+1) = 9 p.m. Nine hour difference.

I understand your point, but we're talking GM events here as opposed to server events. Server events are a whole other story, I like em a lot but I can't run those.

It is doubtful a lowbie will find the shop first, unless it's located in/near it's starter area.

1 - lowbie have very few teleport points opened (unless they bought one cash shop item).

2 - lowbie below 20 cannot have a land mount, lowbie below 30 cannot have aerogear (unless they are elves), so they are much slower at moving around than higher level chars.

3 - most lowbie will not have a clue where you are if you are not in an area they visited previously. And most lowbie will have a very limited knowledge of the map beside their lowbie areas.

I didn't mean a brand new character, 30-50 lvl range is still lowbie in my book
