That was not the issue. The Gold Trading system's prices are all set by you, the players, so the increase everyone saw was due to the actual bug from the patch. The Gold Trading system is working as intended and the price was slowly increased by the players who were exploiting the bug. This issue is being looked into and we hope to have a resolution soon. Please watch the sticky posted at the top of General for updates to the situation. There is no current ETA for when this will be resolved but stay posted!

TI am still actually utterly confused as to who bought the gold at high prices anyway O.O.. it is a true mystery to me

Here's the solution to your mystery : they did not cared if they bought gold at 600k each, since they were able to make much more by buying some cash shop item for a few gold and get a few millions back by trading it for 150 dye and sell back the dyes to NPC

Thanks Brit for the sig b:laugh

Speaking as an IT manager with over 20 years experience, the solution to this "little quandry" should be quite simple. Any company worth thier salt performs nightly server backups....especially prior to an update. Now granted, I don't know how PWE does things since they obviously didn't implement any change control procedures to insure that the patch was ready to go prior to implementation, but if they did thier server backups, just export all transactions logs for reference, then restore the backup performed prior to last night's patch implementation.

The transaction logs will show who purchased zhen gold and allow those players to get thier zhen gold back, which they could then sell or use as they see fit (minus the ability to exploit). Those who played and gained levels and such, well the game is played to be fun....just re-play the portion you've done since the patch. In fact, the quests and such should e a bit simpler as you will have already done them once before and will know what to expect.

QQ all you want but the only way to insure that the in-game economy remains stable is to rollback to a pre-patch condition.

There really isn't much I can add here. I've been in that same IT for about 6 years now as a systems operator. The procedure as mentioned above should be a workable one. It's simply a matter of restoring a backup without contaminating legal transactions, which can be filtered out, if they have got some good sense of programming and database scripting.

I work with Electronic Patient Files (which contain absolutely really private information) every day and need to be on my guard retaining to data loss and such things. There are a lot of things which can be done to prevent just these kinds of situations. It should be ok. A commercial company can't afford to lose buyers this way.

Can't believe this is still going on :(

What happened? Someone bought the gold items for cheaper and sold them for money? Can't Gms just delete the items? Or rollback the person who bought the items and not server?

Sorry - I totally disagree. An MMO is by definition something where the actions of others affect you. This is an example where it appears there is definite and extreme unfairness that has taken place - against both the rules and spirit of the game. It is not so much about the economy collapsing, as about the higher end of it only being available for the few in the future.

    What higher end?

If you mean legendary molds and bikinis and what not - those were always just affordable to players who invested real life cash, and that a plenty.

I tend to be so honest - I overpay other players for their items, just to make sure they don't fall anything short. I rather lose, before have some1 else loses O.O

Whatever happened today, I have no clue what it was. Was it a glitch? I have no info on it as I have not come across it at all. I just know gold prices suddenly shot up - why - I am STILL not sure about that at all.

I have heard many complain about other players having better equips, better this, better that, and not relating this to this specific occasion... I did wield a 2 star wand I had manufactured myself when all around me was an ocean of green TT weapons - and I was just fine ^^I felt special with my cheap non glow (still got it and NOT giving it away, although eventually many levels late I got a TT too *sighs and sniffles some*)

High end will stay only available to those either saving like mad, or those who invest a lot of real life money. I don't think what happened today will have any bearings on that in any shape or form, but that has NOTHING to do with whether it is wrong to cheat. I hate cheating, but usually just feel sorry for the cheater, as cheating takes the fun away from achieving sth the hard way.

Did those do wrong who sold gold today? Nopes - the spent real life money they had to earn first AWAY from PWI on that. This little fact should not be forgotten...

ok, if they do a roll back, is it only rolled back to yesterday because of the patch? i was 28 yesterday. and then went to bed before the patch.... so would i only loose the one level? or they gonna roll back more?

Right, same here. I did my fb51 before the 2H am maintenance, i hope i won't have to redo it.

PerfectWorld is one of the best games i've played but heck, it's just a game, glitches happen. The whole speculation about other players getting richer or not is just that, speculation.

Perfect World is a game that encourages people to play together, it teaches us to trust other gamers by questing, grinding and winning together and sharing our drops. If some people want to make it something else, that's their problem, they're the miserable ones.

Of course there are greedies, just like in real life, but I'd rather focus on the game than on the people in it, and join them in squads hoping we all share a great time playing.

If i want some item/equip/etc and find it overpriced at catshops, i just go to the boutique and that's that: it's much less trouble that way. I guess a lot of people think and do likewise.

Some might argue that they have no real money to invest in a virtual game, ha... it's a free-to-play game but the company has employees who have to feed their families, just like we do. Encouraging them by buying Zen is a just return for their efforts and services and i don't see anything wrong with it.

So, let's hope the game returns soon and... que sera sera, have fun!

Hopefully I'm not being naive but I personally believe the vast majority of the people asking for a roll back just want the game to be enjoyable like it was at first. It's not about being jealous and/or envious of the players who benefited from what happened.

Personally, I think that if they're able to track the people who *greatly* benefited from the bugs and therefore exploited the system then they should be banned. The ones who had a smaller impact could be penalized somehow.

As far as we know there's no plan for a roll back as of yet but even if it does happen it's not the end of world guys! :) It could only be a 24 hour roll back if not less. If this company is any good they'll surely accept to refund money spent or do whatever it takes to satisfy it's customers. They don't want any of us to quit.

Like stated a few pages back I think this is the first big test for these guys since it all started. So let's see how they do.

But has it been confirmed this really happened like that? Although hearing of that strange glitch with the boutique items, it would make sense.

Definitely not the fault of those who sell gold.
Gosh.. all those who never deposit, pleeeeeaaase remember - without those investing real life cash, there would be no game at all. It is those who buy gold with real money who keep this game free for everybody else to play.
