    I have a question about the tanker build

    if the str follows the equipment

    wouldn't the defense be a bit low? since it's also physical defense?

    Not really. By the time you are 70+ you have so much physical defense (from equipment+cleric/BM buffs) that adding more strength for pdef is a mute point. Remember the pdef is irrelevant its the % damage reduction that matters and the higher your %DR is, the pdef required to increase it further gets ridiculous. Adding 1000 more pdef will not even increase %DR by 1% after a point.
    Some may add more str for more dmg perhaps, but I don't think anyone adds it for more def.
    Btw, adding vit doesn't just increase HP. It increases HP, HP regen, pdef (not as much as str does) and mdef.
    Keep str to equipments and pump all else into vit, as guide says.

    This is excellent! Great help. I've got the tanker build from following weapon reqs, but I've mostly been neglecting my tiger skills. I've only recently figured out how to tank actually (First time I took on an FB without another tank [FB39]) and I'm glad of the extra tips b:laugh

    This is a very informative guide, but I did seem to notice that you missed the str, dex, and vit recommendation for Level 14. Hope that helps to have your guide a little more complete, even if it is a minor thing.

    this guide is great. it explained why on my last character i continued getting weaker after lvl 29. but theres a hole here. that gear required stat guide isnt properly labeled. also, wen i made a tank following this guide, it screwed up. for some reason i cant keep my vitality up and still have enough strength to use the Trial Poleaxe wen i need it. someone plz tell me wut i should do. preferably, i need a more solid guide to wer to put my stats for tanking

    Since dex at increments of exactly 20 give u 1% crit increase, why put in dex one point at a time? It might be easy way to prescribe a math formula for point distribution, but it might be better to dump the points into vit and str until you get to about level 27, then put all the points you need into dex to get that 1% increase. Do the same until level 66 and 91, to get your second and third increases in crit.
    Also, if u can answer this question, evasion and accuracy give you numbers but no percentages. With no references or anything to compare it to, how would I know if having 500 evasion is good, bad or average?

    for some reason i cant keep my vitality up and still have enough strength to use the Trial Poleaxe wen i need it.

    This guide was made with dual axes in mind. If you use any other weapon type or one which equips at a level different from the normal weapons (like the trial poleaxe) then you will need to deviate your stats slightly. I suggest checking the requirements for the weapon/armor on pwidatabase (or at the local NPC/forge) and then add your stats accordingly.

    You will need to have minor dex increments to be able to equip the latest sets of weapons or amours available to you. So you may not want to dump everything at one go.

    As for evasion and accuracy, the way I understand it is, they work together as a ratio. While I'm not aware exactly of any formulas, the way it works is:

    A = 1000 evasion and 500 accuracy.
    B = 500evasion and 1000 accuracy.
    A and B will hit each other just as often.

    C = 750 evasion and 750 accuracy.
    When fighting A, C will miss more than B did.
    When fighting B, C will miss less than A did.

    So having a extra 500 evasion may be good against maybe a tanker barb and useless against a archer.

    For the crit: when i got 18 dex, the next level where i had 2 spare points that were supposed to go into vit, i put them into dex. but its all personal preference really. this is a loose guideline that shows most stat requirements for weps/armor.

    Ok I need some help with this barbarian.
    I'm lv 19 with:
    39 vit, 35 str, 31 dex

    I've been varying my spread but I've been usually adding 2 or 3 to vit.
    anything I should change or is he basically a goner?

    You will use mana for spamming skills, and your mp regeneration in combat = 0.

    Thats a fact of life as a bar. SO you are gonna have to either use a MP pots or get a MP charm. Until this ridiculous gold inflation, charms used to be cheaper than pots. Not anymore I'm afraid.

    When they say barbs don't use magic, they mean don't add any points into mag or int or whatever its called on the character stats.
    The mdef and mp regen you get by adding that is too little and is a waste of stat points that could have gone to Vit.

    A special tip to all barbs out there. If you have charms and don't want them to tick, here's how. Don't equip them, problem solved.

    Oh wait... you already have 1 or 2 on? Well, why bother having it equipped in the first place if you don't want to use it? Makes absolutely no sense.

    i think for a tank you want to have more hp than str. the tank doesnt dish out a lot of damage. they use their high hp and def. to keep a mob busy while other party members stay back and do the damage.

    I'd say HP shards since they work for both arcane AND melee, whereas DEF is only better for melee (??and some archer moves??). Also HP would be better for tanking.

    plz can someone help me.. my barb is lv 12 and has 33 str, 28 vit, and 9 dex.. is this right for a tank??? if not can anyone tell me the proper build?? thx in advance

    I think you are alright. Adjust stats as per weapon requirements.
    The level 17 dual axes (http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/items/4577) require 43 str and 11 dex. So over the next 5 levels you need to add 10 str and 2 dex and that leaves a whole 13 points to be added into vit. Those figures will differ if you are using a different type of weapon.

    Nope, tanks need to wear dual axes and those need a lot of str. As a tank you will always have more str than vit.

    Dont bother socketing or sharding anything (except maybe your weapons with some accuracy) until you are 40+. Upto level 50, you can use garnets. After 50s you're better off with citrines. Dont bother refining gear until you are in your 70s.
    Use pdef jewelry until about 50s. After 50s switch to magdef. Never bothered with evasion jewelry.

    Are those requirements mentioned in the guide still valid? I havent seen any problems so far but if there are some differences and I can squeeze some extra points into vit then I will.
