I don't want to see the community split.
and potentially lose the other group as paying customers?
you can't say which group is bigger because not everyone is active on the forums. maybe they're even of an equal size.

It's not obvious the community will be any more split than say, Delphi and Oracle are right now. People still talk about the same common topics with build strategies, quests, help with items, etc. The different servers already don't interact that much with "server drama," like Delphi people don't care that much about Warlords just as Oracle people don't care that much what happens with the Big 3.

About the whole "split community" thing - it is already split, namely into the "i want PK servers only" group and "let there be both" group.

Even if the GMs change the plan to "PK-only servers" the 2 groups will still remain, they will just call themselves "keep the PK servers" and "i don't want open PvP" groups.

So what, cause I don't get your point? There would be only one type of servers so where is the community split?

The point is, you won't ever be able to please everyone.
So accept the decision and ... can't find a polite way to end the sentence :p

It would be split like it's split on the MY-EN servers. There, Oracle don't care about Delphi, and vice-versa.

Interactions between server are not possible.

And what's wrong with that? I'm talking about pk/carebear split, that's the problem. As I wrote already, the problem is that Non-PK server will be full of annoying noobs and you won't be able to do anything, when on PK server will play only PKs, what will make it almost impossible to play normally if you aren't going to play 16h/day to keep up.

It's really great to see such passionate PvPers in this thread, and at the same time, it's great to see such ardent PvEers up in arms to defend themselves.

In the end, this thread is proof that there is a demand for both PvE and PvP servers.

Why so? All other servers worldwide (except MY-EN) are working perfectly well with those options activated.

What I see is PvPers who are afraid to not be able to grief on those who have no interrest in PvP anymore ^_^

dont worry - just go to the area you quested at 10 levels ago... turn on fraps, jump a player grinding mobs (if you cant win - you really should just give up) then post the vid on youtube linking it to these forums.

then you can brag that you are the best pvper on the server, and misquote a well-known high level player saying "PersonX said i'm a great pvper." (whereas he actually said you are a great pain in the a$$ for ganking lowbies)

Tell me, what's the point in playing on PvP Server if you don't want to PK? So, on PvP Servers will play only PvP/PK addicts. What goes, it is going to be one big war, where you can't do anything other than just dying if you aren't keeping up... Am I wrong?

I'm not talking about PKing normally (normally? it's when you are attacking players equal to you, not harrasing lowbies, but doesn't matter), but about leveling - if you want to PK you need to gain some levels first, right? ~~

There was once a time in MMOs where PvP and PvE was merged and no one had a choice in the matter. I myself miss those days. When I was a kid I loved PKing people who didn't want to be involved in PvP. What I didn't understand then is that when you PK someone, one of two things happen.

    Either:
    1. That person's soul begins to burn with a fire that can only be satisfied once they've PKed you. (fun)
    2. That person says %^&* this game I quit. (not fun)

We want this community to grow. We want more and more people to play Perfect World International. I realize that some of you are looking at the situation of having split servers and you're thinking, "Oh no, the community from MY is going to be split now!"

Someone else had said it in another thread but the truth of the matter is, the community we have right now on these boards is going to grow exponentially once beta starts. It will grow even more after launch. There will be more than enough people for everyone to enjoy a populated server, regardless of what type of server they choose.

If no one can level, then everyone will be at the same level, equal chances for all no?

The MY-EN servers are open PvP, yet people can level there, why would it be different here?

    Anyway

    - the map is big enough to allow players to find more quiet area to level.
    - go levelling in a party.
    - go levelling in instanced areas

As I understand it, you want a PvP server with non-pvp players to serves as a buffer for you.

You guys blow things out of proportion. People aren't gonna spend all day every day PKing level 30s and 40s wherever they train - just, no. If they did, their guilds would fall behind. Everybody is going to be focusing on hard levelling in the beginning of these servers - the random level 30 PKing doesn't happen until later.

So just relax. If you join the Pvp server now, you get a free ride whereas if you join after you get bored of PvE, then you'll have a hard time levelling because our server will have had a population and boredom increase thus making PK more popular.

I think anyone that chooses the PvE server is missing out.

Now, I'm usually a carebear, but I'm a deviant, malicious carebear that gets the urge to go on a mass killing spree every once in a while. I'm sure most people are like that.

The PK server gives us that option, while the PvE doesn't. What do you get in return for choosing the PvE server? Well, not being killed of course. Why does that matter? You don't lose jack squat as a white-name.

I'm pretty sure the PvE server will also have more bottters since they can't be interrupted.

Another plus side to the PK server for me is drama. Who doesn't love the drama llama? D: I don't feed it, but it's fun to lul at the people who take the game that seriously.

I'm not against a PvE server by any means, but I don't see why you would want to go there. x_o

    - level in peace
    - if you want to go on a killing spree, go to an arena full of people who want the same and kill each other as much as you and they want - without any penalties.

    - level in peace You already level in peace in the PvP server. Unless a big guild, for some reason, REALLY hates your guild, then there should be no PK problems.
    - if you want to go on a killing spree, go to an arena full of people who want the same and kill each other as much as you and they want - without any penalties. Being PKed has no penalties as-is. PKing red-names is also without penalty... plus, you earn a nice little reward if they have no dolls.

The arena isn't good enough, and you exaggerate the amount of times you get killed during levelling. Outside of guild-related KOS, I have never been PKed in My-En. Ever.

False. Turn on PvP and go hunt the others with PvP option turned on...

Plus, you cannot turn off Pvp if you're red named.

I don't think you realize how lame that is.
Once you've played a game where pking has no penalties like RF you''ll agree with me, and with RQ as a whole.

PKing is about knowing your enemy loses something, and that you may lose even more than him. It gets the blood flowing, you boring carebear.

i think that most people will remain blue-named 'till level 50-60, then many will turn it off from time to time for some fun. you will just have to find them at the right time. however, they are more likely to be prepared for incoming hostilities than the average player on a no-option server.

you should know that white names still drop stuff, even if you never PKd in your life, and someone 30-levels higher ganks you you can still drop your gold items +6 with quad Gr8 stones (unless you are carrying replacement dolls)

Seeing as how little to no people will have PvP turned on, this is, sadly, null and void. You can turn your mode on, but finding someone else like this could take a very long time. PKing is intended to be exciting, and adrenaline-pumping... not a 3-hour chase to find some random n00b to slay.

Not true. You have a 1% chance to drop an inventory item while being PKed. That's it. However, when killed by a mob, there's a 1% chance of equipment drop.
