Foundry Temporarily Off

The Foundry will be offline after today's maintenance is complete. We are looking into issues with the Foundry but didn't want to keep the full game turned off because of it. We'll provide an update when more information is available on the status of the Foundry.

The guy who decided to use it a teaching tool though, he and his class are pretty well screwed. (Which we've known for months.)

I empathize with him or her, but you always run that sort of risk if you use 3rd party stuff in the classroom. If he or she is experienced they know how to roll with the punches and figure something out for the students (probably already has this late in the semester). If they are new then they will learn how to handle it.

Oh, I agree. I think it's terribly unfortunate that he didn't first ask the community if Foundry access/uptime was reliable enough for the job, since he'd have been emphatically informed it isn't.

It isnt' really "back". It has the same issue, at the moment, that it did when SoMI was released, in that no assets are displayed. They haven't said their foundry work is over yet, though.

**Edit** Just realized you may have intended "back to where we've been lately". Either way...hope work continues...

Hopefully that prof switches to something like one of the Elder Scrolls games and works an educational discount deal with the publisher. Better editor anyway, and not beholden to what amounts to an MVP (minimally viable product) that will never be well supported or improved.

This is redicuous I really want to mess with the foundry its up right now but missing all assets. Like they forgot to add the assets to the foundry editer or they got deleted somehow. What they need to do is fix the editer so we can get to work! I got a Nymph charater I want to make a grove for with unicorn guardians.

You are new here, aren't you? There never were unicorns in the Foundry.
Plus, the 'missing assets' were (besides faulty map transitions) the mistakes I referred to when writing about no changes.

On that note, forgive my unclear statement above.

I think that is great that a Professor is using the foundry for a teaching tool! :P Hopefully those students will get involved in the game and become dedicated players. Also thank you @nitocris83 for letting the community know.

Hi everyone! We're still looking into the missing assets issue that was reported. The larger concern yesterday was that the Foundry itself was giving errors when attempting to enter it so we decided to disable it until we could figure that out. Now we can go back to looking at the missing assets issue.

I really wish we didn't have these four week to three month periods of no Foundry...it's bad enough that it has been basically screwed over and forgotten, but the "just shut it off when we have to devote anything but a cursory glance at it" is really despicable. But I guess we should be grateful that the are communicating with us at all....at least that's improved.

Mweh I doubt it. If anything it will be fixed somewhere next year... maybe summer. I had a few Christmas guild events planned and can now throw these out of the window >:C

If it isn't fixed in the next week, I would expect the devs probably decided to hold off until after mod 11; unless, some of the backend work they are doing is slowly working towards the issue.
