It's probably because you have the person ignore. Remove them from your ignore list and you'll be able to see the mail

I had something similar the other day and for me it was because I had accidentally blocked someone by mistake. Have you tried unblocking everyone on your ignore list?

The trend seems to be putting at least 1 experienced overgeared player together with lowbies.
