Open beta has not started yet, and no date has been announced as to when it will start. In this thread, you can see that the third beta weekend is going to be held from March 22-24. Open beta won't start until some time after that.
You know what they should do? Record someone reading the NDA so I don't have to read it myself, and can instead crawl into bed and listen to it as I nod off to sleep.
I wouldn't say I defend tree systems, but rather I'm willing to give Cryptic the benefit of the doubt. We don't know very much at all about the tree system in Neverwinter yet. How are "feats" unlocked? How are points applied? Are you stuck in one tree, or can you spend evenly across all of them? Are tiers of the tree tied…
In my opinion, DnD is more about the story, roleplay, and goofing off with friends than it is about the rules. I could care less if Cryptic doesn't go with traditional rules/feats. The rules are just the vehicle, I could trade them willingly and without qualm. I'm more interested in the journey.
I don't expect you'll see very much in this MMO that will be exactly like it is in the book. More likely the names will be the same or similar and the abilities will have similar flavors, but very little will actually be based on the book rules.
I'm afraid that anyone who knows anything can't actually talk about it due to NDA. However, I don't know anything, so I'm free to share conjecture with you! We got some very good clues in the German video recently. If this info isn't allowed to be shared (although I don't see why not, as it was an approved press release),…
I'm sure there will be a ranged ranger option eventually (there is in 4th edition, after all), as well as a melee ranger option. Maybe even a skirmishing mixture of the two. When that will be, however, is anyone's guess. Maybe at launch, but maybe not.
In terms of actual return on investment, no, it doesn't matter. Anyone who pays for the big package should do so with the understanding that they are primarily supporting a game that they are looking forward to. In terms of feeling like I've been dealt with honestly, yes, it matters quite a lot. To me. :D
Absolutely. That's another big question that is easy to make assumptions about. It's not wrong to want these promotional offers to be more transparent.
I'm not really sure, but it wouldn't be the first time someone made a bad choice. Look at it this way. They haven't promised that everything WILL carry over to the live game. Those 750,000 Astral Diamonds? Are those going to be there when the game goes live too? I haven't seen it anywhere in writing yet. I was hoping to…
Although I've seen it asked at least once, I have not yet seen a definitive answer from a reliable source. However, the answer to the question is VERY IMPORTANT to everyone even considering the purchase of the Founder's packs. Question: Do all of the items obtained through Founder's pack purchase carry through to game…
Er... I worded that incorrectly. The limit was placed on the amount of time you could earn rewards from foundry missions. Cryptic limited the amount of time you could gain XP/resources from foundry missions in STO to 4 hours per day. As I understand it, it only applied to foundry missions though, not Cryptic missions. Take…
Playing the cupcake devil advocate... Because cupcake devils are terrifying. I think I could just tell my friend about the cupcake when it's finally available to eat and then they could try it for themselves and see if they like it or not. Telling them ahead of time doesn't really benefit them at all. They'll just get a…
I've spoken with my DnD friends about the game. We're all pretty excited. All of the waiting is killing the excitement though. We thought we'd be hearing more about beta and maybe even the announcement of a release date this month. Sorry Xearrik, I'd really like to be positive and gush about the cool things I've seen, but…
Rift's player housing offers a lot of what he/she mentioned. I personally haven't messed with it much, as buying a "house" costs a lot of in-game currency, but some people have done amazing things with their home dimensions.
To start, I'd have to say I'm looking forward to the Trickster Rogue. The quick, agile rogue appeals to my twitch-type reactions, and the skills I've seen through various videos seem the most interesting of the classes released so far.
The game will be free-to-play, including the initial download. There isn't a pre-order. Cryptic will make their money through in-game transactions for cosmetic and convenience items.
I don't think these forums have EVER really been rocking and rolling. Overall, I don't think that Neverwinter has ever entered into the spotlight as much as the uber-hyped games (such as WAR, back in the day) were. There definitely seems to be a lack of marketing leadership. Oh, there's marketing, no doubt. All of the…
While having a monster mini-game could be interesting for PvP purposes, I don't really think it fits the Dungeons and Dragons theme. Guild Wars 2 has had "monster elimination" events where players try to be the last one standing, and when you're "killed" you come back as a monster and try to kill the other players still…
I believe the GW Fighter "utility" power (similar to the mage's teleport and the rogue's dodge-roll) is a directional sprint. It's noted near the end of the Massively article: "Finally, use Sprint, a rechargeable Utility Power, to close the distance on anyone attempting to escape their fate and deal the finishing blow!"
