I left NWO when Mod 7 dropped. I lurk on the forums from time to time and keep an eye on developments, but I haven't seen anything to change the reasons why I left (too much repetitive grinding for even slight advancement mainly). But hey - I just got a new gaming PC so it would be nice to see the game running properly for…
I think there's probably plenty of life left in the game due to the licence IP. But there's nothing left here for me anymore. The solo player experience is now dreadful, especially if you like playing alts. I haven't logged on for a couple of months and it's been weeks since I even visited the forums. I've found a new…
Good for them. Personally it was the last straw that made me leave the game, and I doubt I was the only one. Still - it's their toybox and they can do as they please.
I've been playing MMOs since before they were thing, and your knowledge is flawed. NWO has a great underlying concept and combat mechanic but pretty much everything after Mod 3 has been deeply flawed and badly implemented.
Some of that may be self-imposed TBH. If I'm going to join a guild I want to contribute to it and if I don't feel I have the time to do that I'd rather not join than be an invisible member. Plus Strongholds is likely to change attitudes to member activity.
Very welcome changes, but too late for many I fear. Possibly including myself. I've found new games to play after NWO drove me away and I'll have less time to devote to it now. Shame. Had these changes been made 3-4 weeks ago I'd still be an active (and paying) player.
I like playing with others, but not on a schedule and on my own terms. I have no objection to group content on a casual basis but RL keeps me from making the time commitment a Guild typically requires (and I have been in guilds in other games). Not wanting to join a guild does not equal not wanting to play with others. A…
Currently spending my entertainment dollars elsewhere as I feel the direction the game has gone in is not one I want to support. Plus there is absolutely nothing for me in Mod 7 so I won't be logging in again for a while.
I voted No, for broadly similar reasons to Magenubbie. And also the fact that I will probably be sitting out Mod 7 and waiting to see if Mod 8 addresses any of the diabolical design decisions implemented recently. Specifically but not confined to the ridiculous XP nerf.
Not gonna happen. The VIP program is just the latest attempt to wring some cash out of a declining and disillusioned player pool so why would they give it away for free?
*Raises hand* I levelled an alt through Spinward during the last 2 x XP event and STILL didn't hit 70 by the time I finished and got my mainhand. That's broken whichever way you look at it.
Yeah. I did some levelling during the 2 x XP they had right after the XP nerf and still couldn't get to 70 by the end of Spinward Rise. This time around I simply couldn't muster enough enthusiasm to log on - not even for 2 x XP and 2 x AD combined. I'm looking at Mod 7 and seeing nothing for me, so why bother at the…
No. No they don't, and no it isn't. I have played (and am still playing) FTP MMOs where gear updates are much more widely spaced out and FAR better implemented.
This. THIS is the key point that Cryptic fail to grasp. I've said it before - when it comes to stick-and-carrot, Cryptic devs only know how to use the stick. The whole of Mod 6 is Cryptic trying to force players to play the game a single way and make them spend RL cash to make it bearable. It will never work and the end…
Exactly. Mod 6 was an unmitigated disaster, as had been just about every patch since. Xbone players have the good fortune to not have encountered this yet.
If it's a legitimate complaint then it must be legitimate to complain about it. B) There is an alternative response - simply stop playing. At the moment it's the option I'm exercising although it was the XP nerf that tipped me over the edge rather than this. I'm now in a holding pattern waiting to see what Mod 7 and 8…
That sounds about right. Maybe a bit more of a difference if you get good at using Search and the browser's Back button. The main issue for me isn't speed, it's accessibility.
Which is absolutely fine and probably works well with one character. However, many people like to play Alts. Hard to disagree with this. Personally I have no particular drive to get to BiS at all, but even modest progression ambitions are hard to achieve with the game in its current state.
Without AD you can't progress. Period. I really wish it were otherwise but some things required for gear/boon progression need AD (and often large amounts of it). Plus the whole time there is a ZAX people will want AD to buy Zen. The current game design actively encourages a fixation on AD generation.
