I'm not really disappointed. As far as I'm concerned the game has been live for a month and a half now. They just couldn't maintain the facade of a beta any longer.
I must admit I was pretty surprised to see the event vendor gone so quicly. Most MMO's leave the vendor around a bit after the event ends. On the whole my experience with the game has been pretty positive, but there have been a lot of these little mistakes that slowly ad up to annoyance.
I currently havea 40 cleric, 38 Great weapon fighter, 35 Wizard, and a 28ish Rogue. I'm a bit of an altaholic. Truth is, I usually prefer the leveling process to the end game. I get tired of running the same dungeons over and over. I'm waiting for the ranger, or wahtever, to come out. I really want to play a ranged DPS.
I do sometimes miss the days of running all the way across the continent in EQ, or Getting together a big group for a raid. The trouble is, the MMO community is aging. I've got 2 kids. Once I get them in bed it's 9:00. I have to get up for work at 6:00, so I don't want to stay up to late. I have at most 2 hours of play. If…
I agree with the spirit of your post, but it just wouldn't work. Heck, I wouldn't play that game. 1) Fast-Travel: If I have to slog across a continent, which in some MMO's can literally take an hour, to get to the spot I want to hunt, I'm not going to do it. It might be fun once or twice, but after the 20th trip would get…
The dog is pretty neat looking, and I'll try to get it on my favorite character for that reason, but I wish they'd offer something other then another striker pet. I have the direwolf as a founder, so don't need more strikers. So far all of the "free" or included pets have been strikers. Wolf, Panther, Phoera, Skeletal Dog.…
Overall it looks like a great patch, I'm really looking forward to it. That's a lot of work in a relatively short time. The developers deserve some Kudos. The only issue I've been having that I don't see addressed is anything to ease the problem of getting groupmates together into the proper instance. The timer should just…
I find getting astral diamonds way faster then getting gold. Some judicious use of dailies, prayer, and Leadership and I can have 9K astral diamonds quick. Getting gold is slow.
I have found a trick that so far has worked for me in getting people to stop "needing" stuff they don't actually need. Now I have some additional leverage as I almost always play with my wife, so there's two of us. If somebody rolls need on an item they don't I will tell them that if they do that again, or don't give me an…
I've spent $20.00 so far. Ten of it went to more character slots, as I'm an alt-aholic. The other 10 I just burned on keys. I'm inclined to skip the keys from now on, as they were largely worthless, but I'm willing to spend more money now and again. As long as I generally keep it below $15.00 a month I'm happy. I'd be more…
I have one of each at lvl 25ish, and they're both fun. If I could only keep one though I'd probably keep the GWF. She's not as fast at killing as the wizard, I just find swinging that massive weapon around a lot of fun. I'll assume they'll eventually fix the balance issues.
I've been considering buying a founders pack for the past week or so. I'm really enjoying the game and don't mind throwing some money at it. I just got paid today and was thinking it might be a nice treat for myself, but after seeing all of these posts I'm inclined to not.
I'm usually dubious of claims that a class is borked, but have to agree this time. I have been playing a great weapon fight and generally having fun, but it seems like I just wasn't able to contribute as much as the other classes. To test it I rolled up a rogue, and was amazed. I could burn through monsters so much faster…
I submitted a ticket a couple days ago for an item from a nighmare box that didn't ever appear in my inventory after I opened it. Haven't heard a thing. Given that I paid real money for the key I'll be a bit put out if it's just ignored.
Oh good, I'm glad it's not just me who can't figure it out. I have the luxury of being able to keep a gateway window open at work, and come check on it from time to time as projects do their things. I have leadership up to level 7 and still just run the protect caravan over and over as it seems to be by far the most…
My wife and I started playing this game largely as something to fill the time until Wildstar came out. Since then we've discovered we're enjoying it far more then we expected. It's gone from a time filler to an actual fun passtime. I've even spent a bit of money on Zen. I'm not going anywhere anytime in the next 3 to 6…
Cryptic and PW are in a no win situation. I have read countless posts saying if you don't wipe I'll quit, and countless other posts saying if you do wipe I'll quit. I think they're doing the right thing in defaulting back to their previous statement of "we won't wipe" so at least people won't say they broke their word.
This could arguably be any MMO at any time. They are constantly updating their games and clients based on external feedback and resources. Games that have been out for years do that, and nobody pretends they're in beta.
They aren't going to wipe. It would drive away to many players. They'll probably roll it back a bit, ban players like mad, and (hopefully) fix the exploits. They might also remove a bunch of currency from the economy, if they can figure out how to do it fairly. It wouldn't be any major skin off of me to have a wipe, my…
Once you accept money, you're not in beta. Many games say they're in beta for months after release. Heck, I've seen some stupid Facebook games that still say "beta" over a year after release. I enjoy this game and am having fun playing, but in no way do I consider this a beta.
You should care about the free players. They're filling out your groups, populating your pvp, and buying your stuff in the auction house. If you lose all the free players this game would be a wasteland.
Pairing up with my wife's characters every time is a pain. We inevitably come in to different instances, have to sit 2 minutes until one of us can swap instances, and then it will move that person to the start of the zone from where we had logged off together, forcing us to traverse the zone to meet up. This is a big pain.…
Thanks for the input all, both the constructive and the...not so. I'll just enjoy the easy going for now and see how it ramps up when it tops thirty. On the plus side I'll pretty much always have my wife's character with me. We tend to duo almost exclusively. I know it seems funny complaining about not dying. I'm just…
I'd rather they just ban the exploiters. My highest character is only 23 so I suppose starting over wouldn't be to heinous, but if I had a max level character I might quit over it.
They're cool for D&D authenticity, but more of a pain then they're worth. I have to agree, it's hard to know whether to need or greed an item if you don't know what it does. At least give us the level, and some basic info.
The only thing I tend to believe is the next class will be either a Ranger or a Druid. Why? Because they already have nature packs in the game, which will logically go with one of those two classes. After that it will probably be a long time coming for a new class. Classes are hard. You have to carefully balance everything…
I'm sure race makes some minor difference, but I'm equally sure I'm not going to make it effect my own choice. I'm currently playing two characters, a Half-Elf Cleric, and a Wood Elf Great Weapon Fighter. These are not by any stretch the "ideal races" for those classes. They are however the ones I like, and want to play.…
