1. Did you have any desire to play the game yesterday after the patch? A) Yes! I love this game. It is an absolute joy to play. 2. Did you spend must of your time on the forums, hoping that the Devs with state their plans for Foundry? A) No I didn't actually. I spent all of yesterday in the foundry working on my module.…
*Update* I found the solution to this issue in case anyone else has the same thing. It was an orphaned dialog assigned to an item that was no longer there.
The task list says must place all components in Unplaced before proceeding. However there are no components left to add to any map now. I deleted the components and the map up to the point where it was working before I started this morning and it won't get rid of the bug. I submitted it, hope I don't have to redo…
Personally, I don't feel it is unfair. I do however feel that it does a huge disservice to all of us founders who are working hard every day to try and put out a quality adventure for people to enjoy. We spend many hours trying to make something enjoyable, only to see it swallowed up under all the leveling treadmills that…
Yeah you can do that. In the encounters section look for a single encounter in the hard category. Put him on the map, then you can customize his outfit however you like. Then you can add standard or easy keleton encounter around the boss. I think that should work for ya.
Hey there Levitateme! In one of my quest ideas I was toying with the NPC was directing a PC to a place called The Earthly Delights Inn and Bathhouse. What I eventually had to use was male or female companionship. Everything else at the time was being flagged as inappropriate lol.
Thanks for the replies folks. As always you all rock! I had been using black fog up to writing this post. I can see your point about it being noonday and whatnot. I just hope the player gets the "feel" for what I am trying to do with what I come up with. Thanks again everyone. Happy authoring :-)
1.B 2.D I am also working on a Ravenloft campaign. I wasn't going to do Strahd because I didn't think I could do him justice. Good luck! I look forward to playing this :-).
I'm going to attempt to answer your first question as I understand it. Two NPC's in question standing near the pc? You can make the guy you turn in disappear when a dialog prompt is reached and that dialog prompt can be down the chain of the "turn him in" line. To make an NPC turn into an encounter, you have to trigger the…
This is the way I view this whole thing after reading this thread. I will focus on putting out quality adventures that I, my family, and my friends will enjoy playing and have fun with it. If other folks want to come play them that's cool and I welcome it. I originally came into the foundry thinking I was going to try and…
Tilt has written an excellent article on how to effectively challenge those who play your adventure. http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?140071-Encounters-for-Dummies-(and-everyone-else)
Oh wow...good on him! That makes that adventure even more impressive if he did. Looks like I may have to create a little park within the city folks can go to to start this quest then. Thanks for the info.
I just thought of something. If we aren't allowed to edit public quest maps, how did the author for I Am Slayer turn Blacklake District into his play thing. :-)
The quest is supposed to start in the protectors enclave at the temple steps fountain. As far as I know, you can't add, or manipulate anything on that map. Is that correct?
Thanks for the quick reply Tilt! So I made a mistake in my original post. The objective used is in fact the Inspect Object. I have the dialog done for the fountain and the item "dropped" loaded. However, when I get to the fountain, it still says hit F to go to the next map instead of letting you run through the dialog…
I totally agree. Another thing I hate is when you move visual effects like fire or magical lighting. The **** disappears after you move it. then you have to reset the map just to check placement. It's annoying.
Hrm... If I remember right, I tried the dialogue objective first, but that only allows you to "talk" with NPC's on that map. It doesn't give you the option to choose an object as the dialog option. Now the fountain is also the exit to the next map as well, but the interact with object objective has a advanced dialog editor…
Unfortunately, the three places were going to have different theming. If they picked the seedy tavern it was going to be dark and gloomy with different banter going on between the NPC's then say the brothel. I guess I'll just have to wait to see if they add this feature because I don't know how you would get the correct…
I had some fun in placing the traps for my dungeon. I have barricades in my hideout that are specifically placed in dark portions of the corridor. I have trap plates right on the other side of a few of them so when the player jumps over the barricade they have a nasty surprise waiting for them lol. I am working on a few…
I played this the other day and I thought it was well done. Probably the only suggestion I would have is the drow seemed rather lifeless for "attacking Blacklake". It might be a silly thing, but I am not a fan of mobs just standing around waiting to die :-) Maybe add some pathing to them and possibly make a few fights…
Thank you guys for the feedback I appreciate that and the tips :-) It was my first one and I just wanted to get a feel for how to work the tools. My next one will be better :-)
I'm not sure about the answer to your question but I do know that there are rope bridges and suspended wooden walkways that you can add onto any map. They're under the details section. Maybe they're removed so the author could add his/her own twist on the maps? I also notice some maps have the "populate" option where…
