  • Sun and Moon Elves would be my next choice. (Though aren't Moon and Sun Elves just (different hued) Eladrin in 4th Edition?) Regardless, both elven subraces are very important to the history and lore of the Realms, and the game isn't as authenticly Realms without them. (Yep, the Realms has a plethora of elven sub-types -…
  • There's definitely some weird lag thing going on with this event, even way off the US peak. Not crashing for me, though. utzpretzels - when you log back in, check your currencies tab for bones, as they are the event's currency. If you log back in quickly enough, you should also get back into the same instance you were in…
  • Luskan. The northern most port on the Sword Coast, and formerly ruled by pirates. It is home of the Host Tower of the Arcane, which is now a haunted ruin.
  • They're regular adventurers. We can only choose from the same list of deities as the other races, and all the deities on that list are either Lawful Good, Good, or Unaligned. I don't think they'll do anything differently for vanilla Drow. (If you've played the game, you'll know that most of the quests within the game cast…
  • To be fair to the poster who originally corrected you, how could she have been expected to know about your previous experience with D&D? Using "drows" for the plural is actually a fairly common mistake (even among D&D players). *shrugs* Hopefully someone who would have made that mistake took notice. As for the topic at…
  • I like the idea of this, but you need to either tone down the numbers of the army, get rid of the water, or get rid of the light portal thingies at the sides of the room. Something is making the armies glitch out or lag (and it was not my connection, as it was working fine everywhere else). Also, I chose Elves vs Orcs, and…
  • I can't get the pre-patcher to work. I exit the game, the launcher launches again, starts to download then closes itself down. Is there going to be an update on this problem? I have a feeling I'm not the only one experiencing this.
  • Everything I've read has indicated that it will be an Archer Ranger. I don't think either of us will really know for sure until closer to when it is released. I also believe that Ranger and Warlock are not the last or only classes they'll add. Besides, the lack of a ranger class hasn't stopped people naming their drow…
  • Well, my Neverwinter characters carry kits to all skills except their class skill. So I get to open almost all skill nodes and secret areas on all of my characters regardless of their class. (Though I have seen a couple of Dungoneering triggers that can only be used by the actual skill - they need to include more of those,…
  • In my opinion, none of those things will make this game any closer to DnD. The first, as you sort of mentioned, we already have a cut down version - Dungeoneering/Nature/Arcane/Religion skills. You could argue that the crafting system adds further skills in order to make items, and realistically involves having other…
  • FR spoilers ahead... Also, they killed Mystra, and performed character assassination on Siamorphe, Tymora, Tyr, and Helm. They jumped 100 years into the future, thus killing off just about every non-elf mortal (except Mirt the Moneylender). Some were lucky and got brought back as undead/ghosts (I'm looking at you…
  • Actually, there's a plethora of Barbarian tattoos, which are all kind of versions of Tempus (or his servitors, not sure which). As for tattoos. I'd be happy with a Tymoran one, so long as it wasn't that halfling abomination. ;) Tymora's symbol should be a plain silver disk. :P (Yeah, that'd be pretty hard to render as a…
  • Unfortunately the trailer emphasised the PvP element, and gave no indication that it was optional. I was totally thinking like the OP until I read your posts in this thread. Maybe you could poke some people and let them know that's the impression they're giving right now? The idea of compulsory PvP is a big turn off for a…
  • Beckem, sadly I don't think they'll provide language specific servers (as the plan is to merge the existing servers into one at some point in the future). However, they should absolutely provide localised versions of the client! If they're not doing that already, hopefully it is in the pipeline.
  • I haven't actually had a problem with targeting in crowds (somehow, I'm always able to target the NPC regardless of how many people are standing on top of them). But if I do, I'll bear this in mind, and I'll pass it along to my partner who is always complaining about it. Thanks! :)
  • This is my TR, Kayalana Dontdothat. Named after a much remembered DnD character of mine (she was actually a Kender, originally), who once said "Moo" to a minotaur (and also "your mother was a dairy cow!"), but did not survive the experience. (She critted on her taunt roll, the minotaur critted on her with his axe.) This…
  • You need to go up the side of the rock. If you turn your character to the right, and step back onto land... you need to run at the side, there's a kind of ramp... Hard to explain... But I was able to get my GF up there with a bit of space-mashing.
  • Yep, first page of results for that search concern this game. At least it does on my PC, which really isn't a surprise. However, google individualises searches on the basis of previous searches (and probably other things as well) from the same PC. So if someone is more often searching for NWN than they are Neverwinter (the…
  • Wikipedia is a very handy resource. New World Order I admit to knowing a few of the items on the list, but mostly I'm familiar with the acronym as used by professional wrestling, stupid advertising.
  • Then perhaps we should let go of acronyms and just call it Neverwinter? How many people IRL do you know who actually play this game? Just curious. I doubt the sample size is big enough to prove anything about what the majority of people call this game. (Which goes for me also - most of the people I know IRL or have…
  • If people are so hooked on three letter acronyms, how about DDN for Dungeons and Dragons: Neverwinter? Why do we need W in the acronym? Anyway, whenever I'm searching for Neverwinter MMO stuff, I always phrase my search as: neverwinter -nights Works most of the time for filtering NWN stuff from DDN.
  • Replying to two people at once, yay. Perhaps the solution, then, is to make it possible to do quests for which you are too high a level. Which would be win win, since you'd not miss out on content, and your rate of levelling would slow down due to reduced xp for quests for which you're over levelled. What about us people…
  • I find it interesting how many people conflate difficulty with time. Making the levels take twice as long would not make this game any harder. All it would do it waste twice as much time. This is what you get with an experience and level based game. Gaining a level is a tangible reward for time spent. Make that reward take…
  • Print Screen will take a screenie, just rotate your camera to the right direction. It hides the UI by default, and the shots are stored in .../neverwinter/live/screenshots. (I usually just turn visuals off on helmets, a habit I learned from long years of MMO playing.)
  • Wrong. See her belly? Yep, she's wearing a shirt. This is what she looks like without one... (and I had to take it off completely, no disable visuals on shirts!) (ETA: For the people thinking that anyone wanting more covering clothes wants to put us back to burkas - oh please. *rolls eyes* I just want a choice. Besides, my…
  • There's one reason why they should provide options (including fully clothed): Because I want a choice in how my character looks. The End. The longer version... Addressing the points you raised "fantasy art's looked like this for ages" and "this is tamer"... so what? Just because fantasy art's been that way for a long time…
  • Yes this exactly. I was in a group the other day when, for whatever reason, one member ragequit. It happened to be the cleric, and the GF was not willing to continue without one. There needs to be a way to replace members who leave or disconnect, without having to leave the dungeon altogether and re-queue.
  • Oh yeah... running up that last corridor and seeing the hordes of... well I won't spoil it. I was laughing most of the time, and I happen to be rather fond of... spoilers... irl. :)
  • So I finished it. It did take me roughly two hours. Those two hours were mostly spent running back and forth across a HUGE map, and fumbling around trying to work out what I needed to do next. It was confusing at times, and there was not much in the way of direction given (it took me about 20 minutes to find one of the…
