  • Any updates for us, @kbertaccodev ? It's been 2 weeks - is it waiting in TODO queue, or did it get rejected/closed/forgotten?
  • This is a VERY attractive idea - easy to understand and use as a player and easy to develop. Enchants tab would have 3 lists: Offense (up to 9), Defense (up to 8) and Utility (up to 6, if we account for Mako's Signet Ring). All items would have the special ability to "activate" next enchant(s) in appropriate list(s) - for…
  • I promise that this will be my last post in this thread about rewarded mentoring. I believe we've spent quite enough time on the idea, I'm not looking to change anyone's mind without going *a lot* deeper into details on possible implementations. I respect everyone's right to oppose the idea for their own reasons, let's…
  • You've made it admirably clear that you see no (applicable) benefit in discussing this idea further. Consider your position duly noted.
  • What is the point of endgame content now? To answer your question: I have *never* stated that mentoring would completely replace completing endgame content. Mentor who doesn't practice cannot teach. However, Mentor Points should provide a more efficient boost (increased odds with RNG, progression multiplier with seals-type…
  • So, I changed my mind (about not arguing). I listed the different objections I've read, trying to see if they are valid and how they should affect my thought process. I think I'll share my results with the group. "I dislike the idea of mentoring being the most rewarding system in the game because (reason)." Reason 1: I…
  • Is it working just fine? We (the existing players) are all affected by survivorship bias.
  • First of all, I'd like to thank @thefabricant for responding to my post, getting the discussion going. I've read all the responses up to now. I won't be arguing for or against anyone, as I feel that my point has already been proven. Disregarding the "how would it be implemented?", the "why Neverwinter needs it?" should be…
  • I haven't seen any followup to my mentor-mentee post, so I assume I didn't explain the essence and the implications well enough. Hypothesis: Neverwinter MMO would receive significant benefits from redesigning its core gameplay around (experience-wise unequal) 2-player teams. Some of the longstanding problems would be…
  • I feel the need to point out that the entire ongoing battle around dungeon scaling is slightly misdirected. Scaling is a "behind the curtain" mechanic, used to mitigate the "Goldilock zone" problem that arises from the nature of vertical progression. When implemented correctly, scaling works invisibly to players to widen…
  • Feedback Overview/Goal Allow players to create wishlists for the rewards they’d most like to receive. These items could then be added to the random loot table (with significantly increased odds) when determining rewards for the player where appropriate. Feedback Functionality In pen and paper D&D, Game Masters tend to know…
  • Feedback Overview Meaningful player to player interaction is arguably the most potent retention tool available for an MMO. Neverwinter should implement a reward system for mentor-mentee pair-ups when playing through challenging game content (both open world questing and queued content). Feedback Goal Replace some of the…
  • Feedback Overview Analysis of vertical character progression and its effects on an MMORPG like Neverwinter. Look at the alternative (horizontal progression / alternative advancement) and the reasons for rethinking their current balance in Neverwinter. Feedback Goal Re-evaluate and redesign the nature of character…
  • (I'm confused by the feedback format as explained in first post. I can see it's value when a new idea, outside the scope of the thread is being offered. However, when brainstorming on a given set of points, it just feels like bureaucratic overhead.) My SWOT analysis on VIP: Strengths: VIP program is an approximation of…
  • Round 2, without that distracting side topic. Hopefully, we can have a respectful discussion this time, maybe even a response from Julia and/or dev's (as any public letter should have). I for one would like to thank Jenna for putting her thoughts together and trying to initiate (again!) a conversation. It is too easy to…
  • You should be running non-epic random dungeons daily, receiving lots of Seals of Adventurer. Vendor has all the regular rank 5's listed for 100 seals each. Icewind Dale still drops Black Ice rank 5 and Well of Dragons rewards Draconic enchantments.
  • Regeneration actually tops your health back up while running to the next encounter. Life Steal severity on itself is useless.
  • The shards are normal unbound shards and can be sold. The quest can be completed with any type of shards though (just tried that yesterday), so get the cheapest 4 off AH and refine (don't waste any wards, just fail with 99% chance). Quest will complete anyway.
  • Aren't those pres ward packs though? Inventory icon is identical, so it's confusing. Try opening them, you should receive "normal" wards.
  • You need a total of 11% *chance* from all your QM enchantments when opening the bags. Their individual ranks are irrelevant. (There's arguably an exception - 4x R9 plus R10 result in 4x 2% + 2.5% = 10.5% but are said to work as if BiS).
  • This is the inevitable result of a design-by-committee process. A designer probably had a decent overall plan for tasks, costs, and rewards. Then came the preemptive nerf squad, grindifyer phase, and Executive Decision roadblocks. The end result is the irrational, joyless husk called Releasable New Campaign that we have…
  • For minimum button pushing while solo, get GWF and go Swordmaster for Weapon Master Strike at-will. With decent equipment, you can just hold down that mouse button until mobs are dead, move on and repeat. Tab (activating Unstoppable) and encounter powers Hidden Daggers and Daring Shout greatly speed up the damage, but are…
  • You answered your own question. Not enough Armor Penetration is the biggest problem afflicting leveling toons between 60 and 70, and I recall my DC getting problematic even earlier (55+). Get rank 7 dark enchantments for all your offensive enchantment slots.
  • Can you be more specific about why you dislike your DC? Righteous Divine Oracle has great party utility even at lower item levels and needs only the usual care (enough Armor Penetration, don't neglect your Hit Points, bring a defender pet) for smooth solo play experience.
  • > @strathkin said: > earned 21 Arcane Magical Writings at the same time. That means he requires still another 64 to go. *sigh* You need a total of 105 AMW. 85 is the amount of Arcane Focus (that you also need).
  • There're two considerations: 1. If you don't have an optimized power sharing build (proper gear and knowledge), then DO is better buffer (TI being activate-and-forget type of feature); 2. Party with 2 AC clerics is less optimal than one with AC + DO.
  • How certain are you of this? I freely admit that my opinion is conjecture, based on tooltip values while wearing various amounts of Tenacity. I'm inclined to believe these values, but I have no tested evidence. Also, game tooltips admittedly have a spotty track record.
  • Getting enough Tenacity shouldn't be an issue anymore - there are Warborn items in Trade Bar store and Company blue items (exact replica of Warborn) in guild store. Diminishing returns sets in sharp around 2k Tenacity, so you don't even need a full set. The other aspects (proper PVP build, guild boons, ...) remain real…
  • I might be way off the mark here (not an active PvPer), but Faithful capstone plus a lot of Deflect for avoiding CC (including Oghma's artifact as primary) makes for an immortal node holder. Take care to stay on Astral Shield and keep filling that healing reserve like a busy bee.
  • What is the point of PvP-oriented weapon set that turns you to helpless chicken when things get tough (as it actually can happen in PvP)? Mind you, this is the first I've heard about the miracle fashion set. I'm just pointing out that Mod 11 came with a bit of weird built in, not always visible.
