Icewind Dale (problem)

Is very nice that we have chance to farm HEs for refining stones but now we have another problem, bots. Bots are farming HEs in icewind pass and dwarven valley 24/7 running in circles. in icewind pass they have low gear but in dwarven valley they running with legendary gear. So my point is, now we are forced to play with poeple botting.
I hope devs put on eye on this huge problem. thanks

That actually took longer than expected.

It's been stated that the Dev's can't monitor macros in private instances (quest dungeons) so maybe, just maybe, they decided to implement metric buttloads of RP in public areas in order to catch that squirrly lil' non-button pushers red handed..

I'm just curious how you can tell they're bots. I mean Black Lake, Neverdeath, and Sharandar - it's all really easy to spot there. What is it in IWD that gives it away? (feel free to respond in PM if you don't want to say publicly)

If they are bots, they are quite sophisticated considering how hectic it can get in the HEs. Even if they are bots, how is this a problem? Do they take something away from you? Actually they would be helping you finish the HEs faster so you can get more RP. That is your reason for being there, no?. I don't understand all these people sounding like Luddites raging against the bots. I personally love how bots can bring down the cost of RP.

If some one who is not bot and work hard to farming, but get ban because of you, then you should get banned as punishment for ur trolling.

I had seen bot in pair and tired pull a large ground of mods to kill them at wod in mod5, but auto search HE, wow, it must has very intelligent AI:eek:

Might also just be a player getting all-but-frozen-slideshow-mode gameplay due to the issues in the IWD instances.

Or it might be another amicable type... ..."I have one word for you..."

I will not explain how i know they are bots but 2 points. "they never jump and they follow all the time the same config. rotation".
And yes, i just like 1 think about it RP price going down but is annouying have to play with bots around us.

How can you tell they are bots exactly? What makes you so sure they are bots and not players who do this because...plenty of free time? I know a few people who farm this stuff 3-8 hours a day.

only 3-8hours a day?! normal day i do more hours. and is not permitted discuss how the bots work on forum. all we can do is report. But is easy to see the difference between 1 person and 1 bot. (well you just have to pay attention)

Dude, with all due respect, if you farm RP in NW for more than 8 hours a day on a "normal" day, you should really explore getting out a bit more. For most people, the real world is a far better place than a game world. No disrespect intended, it is just that I have been in that "zone" years ago and messed up my life because of it.

chill.... chill............ take deep breaths. <<

I can see the storm coming. XD

Back on topic : I did the herd icewind dale yesterday. I think it was full instance if i count in all the people going with my party of 5.
It was fast, furious and i finally got my main to epic. I was happy like a little puppy. For me, personally, that one go , even with lag was worth it.. But i am not sure i ll try to go again. My laptop can only take one herd running per week..lol
.... the lag was like in tiamat o.o no words can describe it.
However i did not see any bots, we did not go in the straight line , and it was too chaotic..

    ( btw hi myowmyow ) :P

This is bull <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font>, thats where Ill go with this.

Ive done many hours farming and NOT yet seen one bot, maybe poeple are doing it, Ive not seen any direct evidence of it.

PEOPLE are resorting to out right lies to stop what has been the ONE thing that has been good about this game in many months and Im pulling a line in the sand right now.

Im going to call this behavior out over and over and over.

Stop it, YOU might not like it BUT the vast majority of us do.

Again, it was offered as constructive only because I have past experience with spending way too much time on a game that adversely affected my life. However, you are correct for the most past (except the part of assuming I am a kid and it was not bullying attempt). It was not appropriate on a public thread - I apologize for that.

so .. lets remove YET another legitimate way to earn RP, because some people are botting. Here is the premise I was raised for, you PUNISHED the players doing the wrong thing.. not the players doing the RIGHT thing.

Dont you get it.. every ANTI bot measure they have made , has ONLY made the legitimate players suffer more. BOTS dont care about time frames.. they dont care about reducing amounts.. the BOTS can just farm more and more and more..

Im just sick of this. I want to play a game, remove ZAX and AH.. and make everything a REASONABLE amount of grind to get all classes playable in DDS. Thats what I can do in other games with just PLAYING the game.

Im not saying PER se there isnt some bots, but IM not seeing that activity personally, I dont need proof they exist, but im sick of them NERFING anything of ANY use to legit players due to anti bot measures.

IM still pissed from them removing cwards from trade bars, I havent purchased ONE key since that time frame and I never will.

I just bought a pack since they put unbound RP back into game.. they remove it, so doesnt my wallet. I will not reward a company that doesnt allow you to PROGRESS IN GAME.

Oh, I presume we'd anyway get that lame run-off-the-prayer-mill excuse when (not if!) Cryptic decides it's time to move the currently crashed farmland to some other zone - whether there's threads like this or even the slightest trace of truth to that or not. They have their untold reasons for that, probably.

Currently my hypothesis is that abso-fekkin-lutely nobody cares to go that extra lightsecond to grind all the Black Ice for that snazzy multilayer ultra-grind-o-rama plot they had hedged with the Elemental Infusion concept... ...so they try to give people the Black Ice as an aside while grinding RP.

    And regarding the OP--topic:

So far I've heard unfounded accusations and clamour. Rumours? probably. Maybe not, but heck, there's so many people actually doing the stuff that the power balance can't be wrecked by a few leeches or bots. So why bother...

BTW "always using the same rota" can also mean it's one of the PvP-"1337 PwNrZ2"-type players who are so massively full of 5k!L1Z that they cannot be bothered to actually push the buttons themselves- and hence use macroed attack routines...

    Yeah my thinking exactly..

Additionally, when I am playing i am 100% focused on what I am doing especially now when mobs are beyond overpowered and in those areas like IWP and DV i skip completely until they get a chance to scale that back enough. I have played for over a year and i have yet to know a bot from an owlbear and besides the kick vote and bad coding in the past re quest item stealing, no one has interfered in my play.

As long as the requirements for ADs is as it is...probably similar to the great depression years ago, and acquireing ADs is as it is, i am happy if the bots reduce AH costs.

I dont have in depth insight to this games ins and outs but it seems to me as long as we cannot easily acquire the currency for what we want for our PC, its the game design that spawns into existance bots, and without them flooding the AH with those items, those items would take a lot longer to acquire and the price worse than buying it at the wonderous bazaar etc.

One day all the bugs to the execution of player feats and enchants etc will be fixed along with spanky bug free dungeons with no kick vote will arrive and upgraded mechanics within repetitive duty cycle actions we've been asking for and with that, the ability to charge the player fees in ways that do not require doing so by twisting the game focus to compel spending and with that, bots will no longer be necessary as everyone will be able to craft it or obtain it from mobs with sane drop rate percentages.

Yeah.... OP didn't really make a case for anything. I don't notice them, and I farm there plenty. Granted, I'm way too busy fighting to pay attention to what others are doing, so who knows if they're there and actually managing to do harm? If I did see them I'd be more curious why they thought they'd be farming rp to sell, since the price is plummeting (and rightly so). Seems like a lot of effort to make an AI that could do the loops in IWD for an almost negligible reward.

    I notice some sarcasm here.

Just to tack on to what everyone is saying. I think people are too use to hearing/seeing bots in the fact of foundries. To code a bot to go around in IWP/DV is pretty heavy. It isn't just sitting there and pressing a button. As we all know, farming HE's is a situation based. Not ever mob you're going to go after the same exact way. Also that bot would have to take into account how much damage it should take before running, when should it dodge, use a healing potion, etc. Just thinking of the algorithm itself is mind numbing. It seems like I said before people are so use to bots in terms of foundries that they feel and fear as though bots can be applied to every aspect of the game. I'm not saying it can't be done. But the amount of man hours to sit down and code that for every possible situation is crazy.

Just to give another example. Say if someone made a bot where it only targeted HE mobs. What would happen if lets say, instead of the mobs in the HE, random bear mobs start attacking because the character ran through it. Now a normal player would try to run away or kill them. The bot, that's a bit tricky. Because you have to hard code that into it.

In short I'm saying people need to stop crying bot like they are crying wolf.

You don't get the point. They are not botting to sell the rp, they are botting to USE the rp. They are already BiS toons, so they can easily bot in IWD. I saw it with my own eyes. Just pay a little more attention to what's going on around you and you'll eventually notice their movement pattern, too. They always run in the exact same patterns. No human being does that.

I hope these people will get hit with the bann hammer, i'm fed up with the many exploiters getting away constantly.

All it takes is a decently geared toon with either self heals or enough ls. Creating a movement script for IWD isn't rocket science. If the bot gets killed, it starts at the nearest campfire, takes a med kit and continues to farm. Not that hard to figure out. Also, all of the needed heroic encounter can be reached without random mobs getting in the way, not to mention there is a class that can just stealth past them.

It's still of bit of time and coding regardless of which way you look at it. Grant it I haven't spent the time to sit down and look at the logistics of it all. I'm more or less pseudo air coding this lol. And not all of them. Some other HE's spawn right before others. I.E. Motherload in front of the next totem of Aril.

I'm not buying it. There are too many variables at play to successfully farm any RP using a bot. Show me a video or I think this is simply your imagination
