There's lots of theories and no concrete proof yet in lore. Just keep in mind, the Forgotten Realms is a magical place. There are a great number of ways mortals can live long past their natural life expectancy.

This is from Candlekeep. He cites a comic book as his source.
The statue of him briefly mentioned in Murder in Baldur's Gate (which I already had a problem with since it assumed the CRPG rather than the novel was the canon story) is struck by a spell cast by a wild mage of little ability. The statue transforms into both Minsc and Boo - memories, persona, brain damage and all.

The think is, the real Minsc and Boo later come across that and see it for what the statue really was, a Gargoyle, and destroyed it. So, there is still no definitive evidence of their longevity.

I like my theory that is based on absolutely nothing better. Boo is really a god in disguise and Minsc is his champion. All hail the mighty Boo!

The quirky ranger and his miniature giant space hamster companion were last seen in the Legends of Baldur’s Gate comic series by IDW, having spent the previous century petrified as statues.

Restored to flesh and blood and once more roaming the Realms, Minsc and Boo are bold and humorous companions and steadfast allies.
I must be confusing a different confrontation of Misnc and Boo then, for I explicitly remember him coming face-to-face with a Gargoyle likeness of himself and destroying it.

I wonder if putting them into the game was a decision Cryptic made or if that was dictated by WotC.

    Because AWESOME.
There is no other explanation needed.

Yea, I think it's both a little forced and silly. I would of rather seen a new character rather then a poor attempt at recycling one.

Besides, while Minsc was fun, he was hardly my favorite character. Edwin was far more interesting and colorful. ;)

Wizards has taken a lot of flak for skipping 100 years. One reason is because of all the human, and other characters whose stories had to stop.

I'd call it fanservice, but apparently that only involves HAMSTER, not Boo.

It's obvious. As boo is a miniature giant space hamster, he needed to return home briefly to settle some affairs.
With the space travel time, he has now returned with his space warforged Minsc.

You can clearly see here how Boo is "piloting" Minsc through the pilot stand and forefinger control.

    It's a terrible idea.

There are other npcs from previous agme that have shown up s guess why not, Linu the cleric from Neverwinter Nights 1, has quite a nice role in the tiamat raid campaign etc.

If we take Baldur's Gate as broad-strokes canon - he's interacted with Gods personally. Deals could've been made.

Yes but Minsc had the best quotable conversation in BG2.
Protagonist: Ah, I see you still have that... rodent. Dare I ask how you have kept it hidden from our captors?
Minsc: Don't ask questions better left to aged sages. Boo is so quick and evasive and there is ever so much of Minsc to search, there is no hope of getting us apart!
Imoen: Eww, I... really don't want to think about that too much.

I really REALLY hope they give Minsc his original Baldur's Gate voice actor. After all, I know he's still doing stuff because he voiced loremaster Cho in World of Warcraft and some random NPCs in Elder Scrolls Online.

Bah, that cant hold a candle to poor Edwin, messing up his spell and ending up as Edwina, and then getting hit on by NPCs in every bar he went to. :D

Me, too! I can't imagine Minsc sounding any other way! Loved all of Baldur's Gate so much! Even most of my characters in Neverwinter are from Baldur's Gate. :)

Minsc is voiced by Jim Cummings. Considering how prolific his voice work has been, and how many popular and famous voices he has done. I'm not sure Cryptic can afford him.

See, this is what I am afraid of, that Cryptic won't be willing to put out the money for him, but I hope my fear is unfounded as it would be a huge letdown to have him voiced by any other person.
