Due to the huge imbalance in GG PVP, I suggest that there be portals at the back of each team's spawn which would allow players to teleport to a random area of the map (but NOT the other team's spawn point!) so as to avoid spawncamping by the other team.
It isn't quite so bad in ordinary Domination PVP, because if spawncamping happens, the camped team has a chance anyway to fight its way out because there are only 5 people on the enemy team. But when there are 25 people on the enemy team standing in front of your spawn point, there is no hope. You are just stuck.
This will also allow relatively new players a chance to be able to complete the GG PVP portion of the PVP campaign. As it stands right now, if your guild is Luskan (and you aren't a TR), you have almost zero chance of completing even the first few tasks of the GG PVP campaign, let alone the "kill 1000 NPCs" task, because almost every match is a loss, and you don't get hardly any chance to kill or even give assists to other players due to the spawncamping. I don't mind the loss SO much, but I do mind not being able to do hardly anything at all to advance in the campaign by actually playing GG PVP.
I agree it needs to be addressed, but I have seen the opposite on the times I am playing. Mostly in GG the Luskans are the ones doing the spawn camping. And the sad part is I have seen them go for it right off the bat just about every time, 2 groups of 5 go right for the cap points close to Delz spawn and use a DC to hold off as many as they can, 2 groups with 1 solid DC in each pretty much creates a spawn camp within the first few minutes. I've been working on GG campaign with my HR and have only wins and npcs left, taking ages to get an progress in either. I still think the NPCs in the PVE map during the PVP phase need to count, or they need to add more random roaming respawning npcs, not just cap point defender golems.

See this is what I don't understand. I know that the "top PVP guilds" (all Luskan, BTW) try to keep the Delzoun point score to as low as possible, and they brag about the few times when they got the GG PVP score to be completely unbalanced, something like 3000-5. But then in the same breath, they complain that PVP is boring and broken and presents no challenge. Well here is a thought: if you want PVP to be not so boring, then don't spawncamp! This type of behavior just feeds into the attitude that what the "top PVPers" are really interested in is humiliating the other team, rather than merely fighting the other team.
If you want to fight people, then you have to be willing to give them the opportunity to fight you. All 25 of you standing in front of the spawn point means that no one will fight you and you will wind up bored. Is that what you really want?
So I suggested that spawncamping be done away with, with this portal idea.
If you queue at 20 mins left you'll see this rather often. Queue at the beginning and typically (not always) you'll be see Delzoun doing the spawn camping.
I usually Q either from door on PVE map or as soon as I can from PE. I don't Q at the 2 mins left mark. I get Q pops at all kinds of variour random times, rarely instapops, but often within the first 5 minutes of GG. Sometimes I don't even get a pop till the 10 minute left mark, but that is rare, often I can get a 20 min or less match and a 10 min match in. Occasionlly both are wins and that's nice, but mostly Delz getting camped by top pvp luskan guilds from what I've seen. I remember when it was the other way around and Luskans used to give up in the first few minutes or quit out before leaver penalty was added. Swapping factions costs Guilds 750k AD, and I think they need to do away with factions for GG and just work on fixing PVP matchmaking overall more balanced wherever we PVP.
Once again, look no further than the Cryptic team for someone to blame. Don't blame spawn campers for poor design.
My guild is Luskan and after I kill another 100 NPC, I'll have completed GG campaign.
Well good for you. I have yet to earn a single achievement in the GG PVP campaign and that is after 10-15 matches. Even when my HR was at 10k, he had already completed 1 or 2 campaign tasks for Domination after 10-15 matches.
And I completely reject the premise that players bear no responsibility for their actions.
Have your guild switch sides. This is hardly a game changing problem and so many other things should be addressed before this.
in this thread, both pirates and explorers are reporting that they are running into the same spawn camping issues, likely people Qing at different times of the day. Paying 750k AD to swap sides and still have the problem unresolved would be quite wasteful.
For me, I'm a 1-person guild for now, guildies got bored and quit the game ages ago. 99% of this game does not require guild and I have a decent enough network to do anything I want when I want. I don't have 1.5 mil AD to swap sides just to complete the deed.
We're asking for a solution, something that when addressed enhances the game play experience for all. I would think FUN in a video game would be #1 priority from a dev point of view as customer satisfaction could increase revenue and player base etc. Bored, frustrated customers, spread bad rep about a game and diminish it's current population and growth potential.
TL DNR you are oversimplifying something that is a symptom of a larger problem that cannot be ignored even if you personally feel it's trivial.
from what I've seen Luskans tend to win most of the really late and really early morning matches in my time zone EST, so like past after midnight through 8am ish EST. It's not 100% of the time, but more often than not.
The delz seem to do better in the matches during EST afternoon and early evening. Again, nothing's 100% but that's been my experience the past month+
I said this once before in a diff GG thread a long time ago.
If the competitive, "top" pvp guilds actually were competitive; they would of figured a way to split the guilds up over the 2 factions. So they could actually of had some competitive matches, but I didnt quite believe they really wanted competition over easy gyrm coins and pvp boon farming.
Plus IDK if those guilds are still active, maybe they bored themselves outta the game.
The spawn camping has been happening since the start of GG. Many a times either side I was on (depending on which char I was on), it happened. I typically on the side doing the camping, but the way that arena is setup it just sort of lends itself to it.
Also its a decent idea pointsman. Something maybe to help reduce it maybe a smidge.
LOL. You think they will fix this when they havent addressed or even mentioned since Dec 18th, how stupid TR's are right now? I think im going back to Aion even though I love the D&D brand, ignoring your customers cant be tolerated.
Well duh. People from Absolute have no problem, they just queue with their buddies and win every match. It's everyone else that has an issue.
Yup which is why they formed a guild to do...gasp guild stuff!
Anyway, I suggest befriending a few people from the PVP guilds and they could get you to tag along.
edit: To add further, I wish the map would slightly be edited so that spawn camping isn't as easy as it is right now. Perhaps add a few more entrances and a few more bridges up top. Also, I hope they up the rewards in GG to further incentive play as I think this is one of the few "endgames" Neverwinter has.
Look it is an organizational problem. Both teams have 2 entry points to GG PVP. So the spawn campers can only camp with 1/2 their force at each point. If you really want to break a spawn camp then swing all your force into one zerg in one direction. The thing is by the point one side is spawn camped the match ispretty much over. Same as domination.
You shouldn't need high-end PVP guilds participating to even have a chance at victory. That is just dumb.
You don't. Didn't you say that based on your experiences, Delzouns always do the spawn camping? There isn't a good PVP guild that is Delzoun. I've also seen Luskan win a bit more lately without any huge parties from PVP guilds.
I'm just giving you a few shortcuts as a bandaid to your problem. Of course changing the map slightly by adding more entrances would be the best solution.

You guys are just over-reacting, generally the high end PvP guild players still joins GG as a pug, not in a group (maybe 2~3 buddy in a small team the most, but nothing really too organized)
The only exception is on Sat when ppl get bored, then we would form 3~4 groups and queue at the same time to raid GG, but that generally only happens over the weekend.
The main reason for this group queue thing is really not to just flatout beat down on ppl, but rather it's one of the VERY FEW in-game events that allows more guildies to join and play together.
If Neverwinter starts to develope more challenging contents like UBER OWNAGE OUTDOOR RAID BOSS in PVP ZONE that drops awesome rewards (maybe drop a shard or so, and collect 10 shards to exchange for a SWEET or Interesting epic!) then I am sure this will be more of the things the PvP guild goes for.
Complaining about people that are too good is essentially what is going on and you're basically telling people to nerf themselves, change themselves and become worse players to make yourself feel better.

What should you be doing instead of declaring what others should be doing?

And let me give a more serious answer.
I'm not actually asking for people to nerf themselves.
I'm asking for a way to make the match more fun in the face of woefully imbalanced teams. Is spawncamping really "fun"? Honestly?

I would avoid a full game of GG PVP until I know how to play my class in PVP and have around 15k GS.
