The Paladin class

My speculation to the reason why they adjust the regen and lifesteal stat is because of the Paladin class. A class that has the ability to tank and heal would be unstoppable the way lifesteal and regen stat currently work in the game.

I hope they don't mess with them too much, as I use those stats a bit on my main. . .
SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! (repeat indefinitely)

Take a look at preview, it's changed a lot. Not a big change though till you hit 61 and the stat curves go crazy. Not sure if the curve is wai or not though.

No need tp speculate; This is exactly the reason: the Devnotes specify this as the very reason they did this: to make the Cleric and new Paladin more viable.

What small preview? You got a description of skills in that blog, which didn't have numbers attached to it, so we have no idea how it will scale. Yeah it sounds like it's going to be well made but without the details we just don't know.

Maybe you should try reading again.

They didn't give attack numbers, some feat numbers, but if it's like gwf or gf you could stack all the power you want and still hit weaker than can be.

The paladin would have been an excellent place to introduce a third paragon path... Crusader for the Paladin, and others for others. Healbot and Tank both lack that "genocide with religious fervor" feel that is par for the smiteolohics.

All new classes have an Overpower period to make old players come back to game, and younger players spend some of their parents' money. It is intended as an advertisement strategy.

Imagine the growth of the game if they maintained that OP gaze, and KEPT players here...and squelched the OP PVP crying gallery.

    Arcgames.com - login.
At the top - click your name and go to account.
    On the left, click GAMES.
Select Neverwinter then transfer a character to Preview.

If you have to many characters to list, press OPTION+TAB (mac) or CTRL+TAB (windows) to select characters not seen.

The Paladin is supposed to be in tonight's update to preview (usually about 5 PM Pacific time).

Early indications lead me to believe that its going to hit like a wet noodle. Only one daily power that provides damage. The powers seem to be mainly focused on buff, agro generation, healing or utility.

thats nice but this class also have a Tank path passive mechanic similar to the SB set GF have gaining power based on how much dmg they take and its about 10% of there max HP he als was hitting pretty hard for something with lvl 1 gear on

I was looking at the twitch showcase and all I can say is I feel that they can pretty totally replace and outpreform in any way either a cleric or a GF.

From appearances they built INFINITELY more Threat than a GF, although might not be quite as tanky, but they can give everyone near them 20% dmg resist when they block, plus easily hit the 80% dmg resist on their own.

Then as a healer spec they get a Healing At-Will. Which just immediately sounds really op. But, I didn't see any "gifts of Faith" type deal so maybe not.

I'm still worried that GF's will be completely replaced due to low dmg and no healing(We could really, really, really, could use some sort of damage buff. Frontline Surge dmg increased by 5%, or cleave by 15% but still be worse than blocking and stabbing? woooo...(just asking for the feats to be worthwhile, not to make us anywhere near a GWF)), while DC's will be the AOE nuker's of ages to come.

Healbot clerics are dead. All DCs do have healing at-wills.
Atm Virtuous and Faithful are best off played as active buff specialists (the need to juggle normal/divine/empowered DG and FF/BtS to ensure that everyone gets the highest bonuses demands an active playstyle) with healing. Simple fact is that Virt/Faithful-specific feats have made healing more or less intrinsic (you could also read that as "automatic" or "simplified") to these paths, so there is little need to actually focus on healing outside of special cases.
Righteous adds debuffs and extra damage to the mix at the cost of the massive DoT/burst heals of Virt/Faithful, and introduces an alternative playstyle.

As far as I can tell the Devotion-type paladin lacks the straight up party damage boosting powers that all DCs have. It seems to be the reverse of Virt/Faithful-type DCs in the sense that playstyle-wise you spend most of your time actively trying to heal people, while automatically maintaining a powerful, potentially versatile aura-type buff. So it's like an active healing specialist with buffs.
It is difficult to gauge and compare numbers/actual results at this point, but playstyle-wise this seems to be the case.

No word on whether the Protection-type paladin gets as much HP as the GF. If it doesn't, then it definitely needs those flashy powers to stay alive and will likely play as a player skill-reliant tank. Atm several key GF and Protection-type paladin powers seem eerily similar mechanics-wise, hopefully the GF class gets it own fair share of changes so it stands out in its own way.

So far only two paths have been presented. IIRC there was a striker-type Oathbound Paladin path that was the equivalent of the Blackguard/Anti-paladin, which might be the third.

Not gonna lie, Blackguard would be awesome but I really really don't see it happening.

MMMmmmm evil pallies. I love blackguards. Then again my sympathy always tends to be with the villain in the story lately.

The one in the dev stream had 32k HP at only 20 Con with no gear. Unless the Paladin's HP boost from Con changes before release, it's safe to say that OPs will have as much HP as GFs.

Devs can change any stat at-will; a.k.a.: willy-nilly. In case you didn't notice: a couple CLI commands at Action Points were instantly refilled, switching between Paragon Paths on the fly and so on. I wouldn't be surprised if the HP were set that high for testing and whatnot.

We have access to the CLI in Demo_Record Mode, but we don't know all the commands.

EDIT to clarify: CLI = Command-Line Interface. And there's a free User Guide link in my signature if you want to use Demo_Record for screenies and videos and such.

Those were the only commands used before we saw how much HP he has. None of those affect HP directly. I find it more likely that Paladin's simply have GF-like HP at this point in testing.

I would argue that setting something's level to 70 would have a very direct effect on its HP.

The change in HP was based on level. He didn't use a command that changes just HP.
