Will be interesting to see if Chilling presence can surpass EoTS with a 51% crit level or so...
If you group a comperable Thaum & Rene in the same team, the Thaum will be the higher DPS. With only 1 CW in group it would be close on DPS.
Also, I would be hard pressed to give up a Crit Sev pet or Wild Hunt Rider for a CA pet. My blink dog is currently sitting in my inventory, but it might be a better option that the Sellsword using my last active companion spot.

I'm thinking Augment, Blink Dog, Intellect Devourer, Wild Hunt and Erinyes as my pets.
And remember, with CP, you're getting +3% damage per stack, double on frozen targets. That's a huge DPS boost.
When I did some small test on the preview server last night, SS + CP was coming out to a net 30% increase in DPS
LOL i take it back, Rene might be in the running now for top Paingiver.
Hard to do some extended testing as the target dummies seem to be breaking and not taking ground based damage (IT & SS) after you push their health to 0.
Can't wait to see what this will do in a group with a really good Thaum.
Edit: I had to take my helmet off to break the HV 4 piece to not kill target dummies...and yea Renegade is about to get real popular.

51% Crit? BWAHAHA Man, Renegade's get 30% bonus crit as a buff, Chilling Advantage gets 10% more, you get the Feat +3% AND the Critical Strike numbers. With 3k Critical Strike which now I have it's practically constant 47%, and when it hits blue buff it's around 70%. Get the Draconic Templar set, that's 49% (4k Critical), and place 2x Blue Dragon's glyph, it'll skyrocket.
But the thing is - they've changed how the 51% works. Even with it, you'll still miss a crit.
I'm not even playing seriously my build, it's still in a lot of testing, but I've got a lot of compliments from other players who see the DPS and then are like
"You see how we debuff? "
|You're great, for a renegade (lol)"
And people think that they can simply change feats and go into Renegade with Owl INT belts, hahaha, that's the best part.
The party synergy have never been better! I'm amazed by TRs and SWs in combination with a Rene CW.
(And I don't have weapon enchantment...yet...It's kind of scary to think about Perfect Vorpal on a Renegade build SS CW)

What is wrong with using the Owlbear belt with a Renegade build?
About everything.
Charisma is another damage multiplier and add 1% crit. Int just add 1% damage and I think it's multiplicative with power (please correct me if I am wrong) and a very meh boost to recovery. Cha is just straight up better and by quite a bit.

Until someone can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the crit belt is better "by quite a bit" than the int belt, I am sticking with my owlbear and saving my ad.
the cha belt is def better than the int belt.
But the argument is the cha belt vs the cha/int belt. I believe the belt of black ice is the superior one of the three.
Sorry let me be more clear, can someone prove to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that I should go through the hassle of changing from owlbear to blackice belt to get this earth shattering "quite a bit" improvement?
It's not just the charisma that's needed. You need to be a very good CW in order to understand how the whole mechanic behind the Renegade will work. If you're a Thaum build, stick with it, INT's amazing on Thaum. If you're a Rene build, you NEED CHA because you won't be using EotS. And you need some feats in oppressor (SS rene CW) in order to keep spawning Icy Terrain + Sudden Storm and keep mobs almost constantly frozen (Chill Strike comes in handy as well).
The point is - you need FROZEN enemies almost all the time, and with the BLICE set it's the most optiman build without spending much money and specific consideration.
However, to really nail it to the top you will need CHA belt and a CA companion (CHA boosts companion stats, ergo CHA 2x boost CA bonus!) Et cetera...And this isn't some old news tbh I was primarily a Renegade build during the pre MOD3.

whoa there, that is wrong!
The CHA bonus only increase the BASE stats of companions, not the companion bonus. It's really a worthless bonus on CHA in all honesty.
Aside from the preaching and lecturing about how you need to be a good cw, I still have no evidence to support the need to change my legendary owlbear to blackice belt. If someone could prove that somehow I would get an extra few % in damage by switching, feel free to help teach me how to be a better cw.
CHA gives CA bonus dmg. NOT bonus dmg. Even if you have CA like 70% of your attacks, CA dmg is MULTIPLICATIVE when you DONT crit. When you crit is ADITVE with crit severity like other CA bonuses except blink dog and devourer (allways multiplicative). INT bonus dmg is applied to ALL dmg (Crit, no crit, CA and not CA) and is ALLWAYS MULTIPLICATIVE.
All per Kaelac's dmg calculation formulas. My tests gave me similar results in total dmg (int a bit better), in a high CA scenario, because more crit means more storm spell.
And the cigar goes to the heavily armored potato! My advise to those that already have a legendary owlbear: keep your 4% damage increase, wear hv, personalized rings, blackice cloak, augment, wildhunt, ca and crit sev companions, go rene and melt mobs with 11k power, 35k hp, 3k crit and recovery, and 24% arp. Throw in the dc artifact and lantern and kessels, to add some ca icing to your whoopass cake.
The CHA bonus only increase the BASE stats of companions, not the companion bonus. It's really a worthless bonus on CHA in all honesty.
Let's say that a new companion emerges with a new gift. Hehe.
I'd never give away my Stone anyway, but still
For all of you who need a proof of bla bla bla cha int etc, here you go a pic. Just build whatever you please and make sure that you DO CRITS while frozen mobs etc etc. This is without Chilling Advantage feat, FYI, and without uber gear and while in the testing area of the build. I actually cleared out that last wave of mobs without much effort.
It's still too early to make drastic changes, YET so hold your fingers or just go to the Preview Shard and do your own calculations before jumping into conclusions.
You need CRIT, but not at the cost of losing the ability to place those lovely Yellow Radiant Enchantments in the Offense slot. And you really do want extra 15% Crit Severity for a Renegade. And you do want to make use of Sudden Storm as your primary ally in adding chills. Be wary, though, that an extra 30% Crit will come from time to time on you if you use the buff. All in all, just focus on the delivering attacks while mobs are frozen and that's it.
If anyone wants to buy me an P.Vorpal enchantment, that'd be great. Thanks

There is no way +4% crit can cause more damage than +4% damage, its dumb to think otherwise and on top of that, +4% crit or 4% damage is SO little that you practically will not be able to see it even in parsing the damage.
The only thing anyone should keep from this is this: Renegade is by FAR better than Thaum after these changes, for your party and for PVE content mainly. For the dumb PVP comparison i have no idea, i guess thaum still reigns.

It could be with high crit severity and a special bonus on crit damage, which is exactly what storm spell is.

It's likely that for high levels of crit, Chilling Advantage/Chilling Presence will outweigh Eye of the Storm.
Only if we don't zerg.
It's a marvelous combination. I think EotS has been unseated. And Thaums are going to get blown out of the water by Renegades now.
SO I NEED THIS PATCH NOW!
