Hey all!
My name is Jeff Miller and I come to you all from STO land! As you can guess that is where my forum name comes from. I have been over on the STO environment team for almost 3 years and have just today moved over to the Neverwinter team!
For you all that play STO as well, you will find my work all over the game. These are a few of the maps/missions I worked on: Both the Romulan and Fed tutorials, The mission 'A Step Between Stars', the revamped borg/undine arc, and the new Kobali Adventure Zone that just went live with Delta Rising. Also made a few ships. Armitage and vesta just to name a couple.
I'm really excited to start work on this amazing game and IP, as well as getting to know you guys... the NW community!
I'll keep it short for now.
Have any environment art questions drop a line here on the forums or my twitter (
@LCDRMiller) I have the forums open all day and try to respond as much as I can. Sometimes I can't get to every responses but you can bet I read your posts/feedback all the time.
Well that's that! See you all in game!

Welcome man.
Oh welcome to boundeverythingawinter ummm neverwinter.
I'm one of those players who really enjoy the enviroment art in any game I play, playing with max graphics is a must in order to truly appreciate every detail! I'm curious about something: Would you be working in the actual art or mostly in new content? Could we expect to see a few changes in certain zones? Also, considering that you have also worked in some models (ships) would you be working with the characters too? There's too much clipping in some classes with their weapons, equipment, etc and we would love to see some fixes there.
We do hope to see your love for some of thoose shabby conners in maps. Maybe you could finally finish repairs in Protectors Enclave? Just saying that they are still fixing that road for over a year)
I've seen some of the work you mentioned was yours, and that makes me super pumped for the future of Neverwinter and whatever you work on for Mod 6!
Good to know you were brought over to add some PVP maps! Really need it... and I mean REAHEHAHEHAHEHAELLLLLYYY NEED IT!!!!!
Make sure that gets done please.
PVP MAPS.
DONT forget it.
Say it with me.
PEEE VEEHHEEEEEE PEEEEE MAPS
The guy above me really wants some Pretty Versatile Parachuting Maps (that's what he means by "PVP" right?) to use with weather effects!
*chuckles madly*

I guess my admittedly dumb question is, what does an environment artist do? Do you work on textures? 3D models? Model placement? High-level aesthetic appeal? (all of the above? -- ) I've never played STO so I'm not familiar with your work (no offense, but Trek is just way too -- Utopian for my tastes).

Please make us some kickass nature looking scenic PvP maps please.
please
thanks
There is only one chance to survive this. Promise something new, but don't deliver. It will buy you some time, and as they wait, you can make your escape.
Good luck, and try to keep all hands and fingers out of PVP reach.
According to wikipedia, an environment artist is someone who works in the game industry as a PVP map creator.
Oh yeah.. Hi!
Please remember... The creepier the better!
Well we all know what Wiki means.. and Wtgk was not so much.

You could just create a map with nothing but Chromatic White walls with no escape....something like a Rakata Mind Trap.

Welcome.
Are you the person, who created the duelling arenas for STO/CO? Neverwinter is missing arenas, since launch and it would be a great addition to the game to have them here, too. We could test tactics/setups in 1on1, instead of 5vs5 objective driven fight scenarios.
If you aren't said person, could you still try to get arenas implemented? Thanks in advance.
This game suffers very heavily from the overuse of invisible walls.
i would like to see some foundry love too and some better integrated traps in the environment
Will you be in charge of static environment (maps, surroundings, landscapes, NPCs) or of the animations of our toons? (postures, walks, combat stance, cloaks, armours, visuals of the armour/weapon enchants)
