Having UGC expands the value of a product because a lot of gamers thrive on novelty, and content locusts can never be satisfied by one team of developers. Ever.
With everyone making cool stuff, it enhances the game overall, in a bunch of ways.
The problem is that unlike many other types of content, the connection between Foundry and profit is very nebulous, and business types are notoriously terrible at determining the value of broad features like this. And my frustration is then at how small-minded PW is.

Meh... I agree. I completely hate the idea he pushes of pooling a percentage of all the foundry loot into the final chest. But honestly he is the best choice. He has kept that bug list going since forever. And the feature request list. And isn't afraid to shove a link to either into in any relevant thread. All of that without even being an advocate.
Advocates won't be chosen to represent their opinions. But instead are to act as intermediaries for the Community as a whole on specific topics and areas, whether or not they agree with such or not. They will have checks and balances to make sure that they are being unbiased in their relay of the Community's Ideas, Opinions, and Suggestions. Furthermore, Advocates won't be able to "make things happen."
Instead, such is more akin to what we Moderators already do, which is relay all the hot topics and serious bugs so that the Developers know to look more deeply into such issues being reported in Bug Reports and on the Forum. The Developers don't just take our word for it, they see our word as a sign that they need to look deeper into the matter.
Alas, Moderators do not have the time to properly dedicate to such as we have other duties. This has been made aware by the sheer number of things we report each week (and sometimes daily) and then find out that we have forgotten something or overlooked something else entirely. This is where the Advocates come in, to help and ease such things.

I understand. I don't think anyone expects advocates to do much more than relay information. However it was his own words that nudged me to make my comment:
That being said -- I have been a developer in nearly all languages for almost 40 years now, and a System Architect for nearly 15, and if people are alright with my opinions "tinting" things, perhaps.
And again, it doesn't even matter. I guess I shouldn't have said anything. It was one minor thing, and despite it I still agree Eldarth is the best candidate. He seems to be the only one both organized enough and has enough heart for it. Hopefully someone who knows him pushes him a little though. The post I took that quote from also said he would probably decline.

Organized enough depends entirely on exactly "what" they are expecting/wanting. We haven't seen anything concrete yet.
....and more over, have heard absolutely zero about any non-class advocates. They have commented about appreciating my bugs aggregation so maybe that's enough for them.
I've also slowed down - I used to re-verify bugs after (almost) every patch, now I'm down to after every module preview/release, and perhaps, if I've got some time another pass in the middle. They've got the luxury of (supposedly) having an entire QA department.

*pokes his head in and checks if Boss encounters have been implemented yet...*
Hmm... No Boss encounters...CHECK, No new details...CHECK, No branching quest capabilities CHECK, all bugs mentioned months ago are still here CHECK...nope doesn't look like there is anything special except for a handful of regular encounters...disappointing, oh well I'll check back in 12 months and see if there is anything new.

Module 5 is supposed to be the major foundry update. You might want to check back when that comes out.
Neverwinter players are stubborn things....until you strip them down to bone. (Cursed players, my flowers, MINE!) Oh how I plotted their demise.

We herd the same story about Mod 4, I'm not getting my hopes up again :P do you have any direct source details from the devs you can link?
I don't know where the quote is, (I think it was from a live stream somewhere.) but what I heard about the original one was Module 4 or Module 5. People somehow started interpreting that as just Module 4; which they were rushed on by Wizards of the Coast so honestly I would have been surprised if they did the major foundry update with it as well.

Maybe I just missed the original, but I only heard before Mod 4, until it came out, and then people started saying that it had actually been "4 or 5" all along.

I heard 4 or 5 long before Module 4. Somehow people kept passing it on and eventually started leaving out the "or 5" part.
