I also remember before the leaderboard when your team got rolled or you rolled another team a lot of times you could get one vs ones to pass time and have fun. That doesn't happen now because of people worrying about the leaderboard.
you could do like me and just stay at the bottom and not worry about it.
When it gets past fun, it is past time to do something else.
Yeah I'm gonna take a break from it and start roleplaying/doing foundry content again.
I reached as far as middle of page 2 so I don't have to prove anything to myself anymore xD
srs though this leaderboard should just get scrapped lols.

Speaking of leaderboards, and the match making system... Lately I've been placed on withs with 5k-9k gear scores, and is expected too carry 3 people... I can go 20 - 3, be the MVP, and STILL loose pages. I went from page 3 too 22 in 5 hours!! What the hell is going on lol!?? Even if I win, I loose ranking/pages.

Yeah, imagine being a perma Rogue and taking base #3. Looking back and seeing the two other bases red. Makes my blood boil.
I lost 3 in a row and dropped from page 2 to 8 lol. I had a 4K GS TR bot and two other 6K HR's.. like really? lol

I KNOW RIGHT!! I'M LIKE WTF!?!? There was a point in time, where they made the match making system more strict on selecting opponents of nearly the same gear score. But when they did that, it took 10-20 mins too get a PvP match because not many players of the same GS Q'd for PvP like that. So they decreased the ranges of gear score so players could get into a match a lot faster, because people were complaining about queue times; not realizing the good match making system we once had.
you could do like me and just stay at the bottom and not worry about it.
When it gets past fun, it is past time to do something else.
Essentially I don't anymore. I was never a top tier pvp'er, But I'd be there for a few hours a night in mod2. I come back just before mod4 from a break and pvp just isn't worth doing. It's a complete mess 10 times worse than it was when I took a break before elo was introduced.
Part of the problem with just ignoring it though is that even though I ignored it when I do decide to join a rare match, others do not. Since there are nine other people in the match it means that even though I ignore it, my match is influence by people paying attention to it.
Anyways pvp in this game is pretty much past broken for me, and the dysfunction generated by the leaderboard is a big part of it.
You really shouldnt worry about leaderboard. Sure it can feel good being up there. Sure if you had you fun working your way up, thats great! But trying to do it for fame/epeen or other silly nonsense is really stupid in a game like this.
The thing is, No one cares about other people's rank, only their own name and position. Maybe there are some crazy people who go around scanning the lists and follow other PvPers progress, but i find it doubtful. So as long as you don't care anymore then it doesnt matter :P who are these weird internet people anyways? The highest ive been is 6th (woop! no one cares!) which was good enough for me, was a bit of a waste of time considering the lack of satisfaction i got from it, but hey I made an attempt at PvP.
The leaderboard is completly meaningless, even stupid.
I am on page one right now, and there are times I loose a match and climb two places, and times I win and drop some.
Also the stupid kill farming with the warlock bug, and ofc the pug stomping.
I dont participate in such mess. In 70-80% I am just standing afk, because I have something better to than to stomp 10k gs players.
Also these force logouts for loss avoiding are pathetic. But it shows how much people care about meaningless numbers.
I still do accept 1v1 requests. When my team lose i just talk and wait, or fight if my team is still fighting. Unless it's a total slaughter like premade vs weak pug.
Don't really care about the leaderboard. It fluctuates a lot. Went from page 25 to 10 to 6 to 4 then back to 10, 15, 22, 30, 33 and now around 13.
I don't care except for just curiosity and overall statistics to monitor my performance with different builds.
But i noticed a change. After leaderboard ppl is more 'kill-hungry'. Teams dominating 600-10 chasing 1 enemies like rabid dogs. Sometimes i troll them and kite them through the whole map. Insults are quite common as if ppl seems to expect that you stop and quietly let them swarm you. Some are so focused chasing you they do not notice that their whole team is backing them up.
Domination is a team game. If i am losing on one point but can instead give fast support at another point, i usually make a choice and if needed, i die to buy time. If not needed, i just disengage and change target. People think it's a 1v1 pvp while it's a team based strategy game where the aim is not to 1v1 but play smart and cap points.
The roar bug abuse at that time pretty much ensured I'll never try PvP again. I refuse to engulf myself is so much power abuse just for a few virtual points and ego feeding. There's just no respect in PvP in Neverwinter.
But even long before the leaderboard came to be, curses 50 times worse than yours went back and forth over the battlefield, accompanied by phrases I wouldn't repeat with my last dying breath on my worst enemies.
Dont pvp anymore at all. I can deal with the bugs, the class imbalance, the leaderboard, the 1 pvp mode. What I didnt like was the abuse and overall disrespect the players showed eachother. Coming from the other team is 1 thing, but coming from the same team you're playing on when it had nothing to do with the actual match that caused the imbalance was enough for me.
Ill let that community burn each other til there is no community for it.

Im still trying to figure how anyone has time to do anything but dailies.. and more dailies...
This has been by far the most unfriendly mod for alts they have released, its way to time consuming, while also throwing in a summer festival and a new class.. too much at once, space some of this junk out would you guys!

I only do dailies on one class at a time atm. When everything is unlocked in ToD and that toon has their artifact weapon etc, I'll start doing another characters. We probably have several months till the next mod, we have time.
It's not the leaderboard, it's the pvp community itself. Toxic, immature, never listen to anyone, thinks their role in every match is bigged than empire state building oh and they use opressing force against boss in epic SoT skirmish despite everyone asked them politely not to.
I don't pvp any more because I've started noticing things I despise and decribed above in my behaviour. Now days not a single match can happen without "your mom" or other classic insult, not mentioning that popular "jumping on a dead body" thing lol, like one would care.
Also, the preview forums are full of PvPers which are crying for nerfs/buffs in the end benefiting them in PvP while breaking class for PvE making it utterlly overpowered (CW, chill) or as useless as pet (like TRs).
You might say "No, it's not about me" but you will learn it is true after you face 10 times in a row blue/green geared pugs in your team totally ruining your leadership board score.
- Fix the exploits. As long as players can cheat the leaderboard by relogging, it's void.
- You should never drop down in ELO from a winning match. Ever!
- Losing matches shouldn't be fatal. ELO must be dynamic. What I mean: let's say 5 players from page 1 fight 5 players from page 100. The 5 players from page 1 win with a score of 1000:800. The players from page 100 should go up in ELO from this. On the other hand, if the score is 1000:0, because of the big difference in ELO, the page 100 team should only lose a negligible amount of ELO, while the page 1 team should only gain a negligible amount of ELO. In no way should the page 1 team lose ELO from winning.
Any PvPer that played WoW can tell you how this overall "ranking" should be implemented in a painless, structured entity. Not even hard.
Yeah well difference here is that they implemented ELO matchmaking and leaderboard on a pug game called domination where you get a solo rating based on a group game. Also you can use pots, feats, foods, doohickies, coins, adobarble pet, etc + you can exploit it so you dont go down in rating after you lose.
Whats different here and in WOW, is that WoW would never introduce ELO rating in a domination map. It should only be in arena, and the rating should be visible on the leaderboard. But then they would have to introduce 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5 arenas with no such things as pots or coins or pets. Then they can introduce a real leaderboard. While domination stays as a non-leaderboard non-matchmaking type of play to practice and explore new builds/skills

In ELO system preview they stated that ELO works the way you just described. So you're demanding exactly what we have now (in developer's mind).
M6 almost drains your soul given how boring it is. (c) joocycuzzzzzz
lol anyone who does this should just uninstall or go hide in a corner.
Most pointless thing I've seen. We aren't in a god dam FPS game for you to T-Bag lmao.
I've noticed that it's ALWAYS those Halfling CW's who think they're good that do that xD
yeap
I always believed people rolled halflings because they are the best pvp race but recent events proved that wrong (had some testings, discussion and etc recently). Now I just think either those people got additcted to playing short characters or they are all latent pedo bears irl

We talked about how leaderboard is meaningless in the guild, when duo que is the best way to go up.
FULL Premade vs FULL Premade should be the ONLY way to gain leaderboard points.
I would also go further and require team registration.
As for pug games, they should obviously continue to exist, but just so that people will familiarize themselves with PvP and have some (unranked) fun, while also doing their AD daily.
In ELO system preview they stated that ELO works the way you just described. So you're demanding exactly what we have now (in developer's mind).
That's the sad part. We all know it doesn't work like this. What we have now:
5 players from page 1 fight 5 players from page 100. End score 1000:0. Players from page 100 drop to page 120, players from page 1 drop to page 2.
I remember there was a moment when I was on page 1 and dropped all the way down to page 16 just from winning over and over again (not a single loss!) while queueing solo.

I don't care about the leaderbords either.
What does bug me about them is when my team is losing a match and then a team member 'disconnects'. I assume its so it doesn't affect his rankings.
