More Restrictions?? REALLY!?

So I spend real money on this game, and what does PWE do? They restrict me to which anything I buy on the Zen market is bound and can not be traded. Now after todays patch, even items I get from lockboxes become bound?! REALLY!? Do you honestly expect me to spend another dime on this game if I cant even trade the items I purchase? What is this even suppose to prevent? They can check my purchase logs on Steam. And I even sent in a ticket to their support and they told me the restriction is 'indefinite' and they couldn't give me any form of time on when it will be lifted.

And to think players wonder why there is no Zen on the AD exchange. It's not because we aren't buying Zen. It's because we cant freaking use it.

All items purchased with Zen, and all items gained from lockboxes such as enchantments, mounts, ect.

Well looking at it now, items that are BoP are still BoP and items that are BoE are still BoE.

I'd say "if it wasn't in Patch Notes, it's a bug", but I see that with the latest patch Cryptic has stealth-changed many other things (including other BoE->BoP changes).

I will admit that it'd be nice to know these things up front. I realize the need to change things and fix things in an MMO. I even understand that some things you think are unrelated will occasionally get broken and then have to be fixed as well, but on the same hand telling us about it should be one of Cryptic's top priorities. I am not one to complain and I will shrug off most things, but an announcement about the right click in chat being broken would have been nice for instance. They had to know about it within hours of the patch going live.

That said, I still love this game and see myself playing it for a very long time.

PWE is breaking their own game when they allow players to purchase Zen then openly restrict their use with it.

Is your account on probation that you need to wait for them to verify your account? I see some items on the ah unbound that have been listed since the patch. There could be other explanations, it'd be nice to know what's up. It sucks to happen though.

Yes it is on probation, but I've been buying Zen for a while now. My account is over a year old.
And I asked support how long the probation lasts, and they told me "indefinite".

It's a joke. What is this even suppose to prevent?

Yeah... I don't want to open lockboxes and be stuck with multiple / duplicate items I cant use... can mounts be disassembled into astral diamonds by those disenchanter guys?

No, plus that only gives rough AD.

Oh, I think heard about this from in-game chat in /Legit. Apparently some accounts (that have no real money purchases of ZEN) have had all their ZEN Store purchases set to account-bound only.

I am assuming this is an anti-laundering move so people or gold-sellers can't transfer AD to an alt account and launder it by transferring it to ZEN, buying ZEN items and selling or passing them to another account.

That's a reasonable restriction. Sure, it will annoy people that accumulate a huge amount of AD - either in a legit way or through exploiting, exchange that for Zen, buy items and sell them at a massive profit.

    So what?

The people that will be hurt the worst are the exploiters, those that have made the economy what it is and those who do not support the game by spending real $$$ on it. You know, I'm fine with that.
    Hoping for improvements...

Bound keys, yes, but bound contents? Can anyone confirm this?
I can not confirm about new drops.
But my pseudodragon in inventory is still unbound,
and the profession special packs I just put up for auction are also unbound. But they were all taken out of the box a week ago.
Nevertheless, I guess if they change the general BoP/BoE mechanic as they did in the past (most often unintentional, sometimes on purpose) it was usually affecting the existing items as well (like the keys ... they really do things intentionally sometimes)

Of course. Any change to screw players over is welcome here. As long as it doesn't affect you right? I really have no idea why anyone would support player restrictions. No wonder they like HAMSTER us over so much.

Figured I'd throw in my 2 cents. I got a rage drake from the lockboxes 2 days ago and sold it on the Ah no problem. All the stuff I got I was able to sell. I bought the zen with a prepaid pwe card.

Sounds like your account is on probation and you just have to wait it out.

You must have made some sort of transaction that sent up a "red flag" and caused your account to be put on probation. It might have been something legit, but you would not get put on probation for no reason whatsoever.

You should think about your account activity over the past few weeks, such as whether or not you bought a big load of Zen at once (others had problems when they did this), if you made a hugh AH purchase, etc. It had to be something. I have had a few different accounts for over a year and have never been put on probation or anything.

Totally agree +1. This game should not generate a profit or trade for players (out of the ordinary). Cryptic make a beautiful movement (if true) and i FULLY support and those who bother, should perhaps something good is not it?

Now a question for those complaining about the lockboxes (gambling) this: when they go to a casino and buy chips, the profit that gets them is passed on to other people? not, because it stays with you SURE! so it should be with the items of lockboxes, there is only one indeed there is only one blacklog in ZAX, among other reasons of course, because of the excess profit from the value of an item and its real value!

Maybe it's time Cryptic LIMIT value in AD of their own items and prevent excessive profit of paying players (whales):-)

If we were allowed to discuss it, we could probably make decent guesses as to why they were put on probation based on people saying what they had recently done before getting probation. But since we're not allowed it could very well be completely random, there's no way to know.
I wasted five million AD promoting the Foundry.

I opened my lockboxes and everything was as it always has been. I didn't really get much unfortunately, but everything I did get I was able to put on the AH without issue.

Well looking at it now, items that are BoP are still BoP and items that are BoE are still BoE.
This is a new security measure, it was in patch notes a few weeks back.
Transactions are put on probation period while funds are veriified.
Anything bought during this period is BoP.
This is to presumably stop credit card theft or fraud...but seems to inconvenience people who use steam wallet, as they can easily file a charge back.

WEll it would be only good for the people who want to use ZAX and really only good for poeple who want to buy Zen, not sell, so simply put its only good for one side of the market, the people who dont want to pay real money into the game.

So I dont see how its good for the overall economy at all.

now if they would take the suggestion to allow the Zen value to float, that would be the greatest boon to the economy as I can see it, it would put people like me , willing to put some zen up for actual value, the purpose of doing so and the free players would then have more zen to buy with free in game farmed currency. So I would trade some of my real world currency for your time.

To the OP... no offence, but basically PWE has told you to use ARC. I would just use ARC. It seems using steam isnt going to net you the best overall experience in this game. I wouldn't fight city hall on that one.

From what the op said it all has to do with their payment method in this case see this post.
