And now they're starting to PM you.... Look at how many I've gotten in the past 30 minutes!! Something needs to be done about these third party sellers...

Wow that's a bunch of them! I've only gotten one PM here and there from spammers.

Do you post in Zone chat frequently?

Not much that can be done unfortunately. Even if they were able to ban every one after the first message they sent they could still keep making new accounts and messaging. Keep hitting report and they'll get chat banned fast at least.

You DON'T need to chat in zone chat .
They can get your details from using the search for people option , through the social options ( unless you change your preferences per toon to visible to friends only ) .
There have been frequent requests for this part to be disabled as it is so flagrantly ABUSED by the spammers

Good grief. Those people are just determined to destroy this game if they don't get their way. They don't need to be just banned; they need to be prosecuted.

I have been getting same for months apart from friend invites. Low priority issue or just ignorance.

Press O click preferences choose visible to friends only or invisible and hey presto , no more unwanted pm's.

EDIT - Also seems pretty weird that the OP has posted a screenshot that says "order before June 1st" so either this is a ancient picture or a thinly veiled attempt to advertise by proxy of the screenshot itself.

so I'm guessing all those toons are above level 15?

It is too easy to make new accounts for spam

That picture needs to be edited to cover up the webaddresses of the gold sites.

The search functions should be available only after a certain level, say 10. It wont stop the gold sellers, but it is still an obstacle, so that they have to move away from the starting beach.
    Suggestions to improve NW:
    - Dualspec
    - Better rewarding foundry and foundry pvp maps
    - Custom PvP leagues with leaderboards instead of the current 'matchmaking'.
    - Armory
    - make jumping cost stamina (to reduce hopping in pvp)

That picture is over 2 months old , wonder why somebody would post a 2 month old picture with no attempt to cover up the webaddresses of the gold sites.

My dear friend, I have time-stamps enabled in-game as well as account names. The picture was taken literally 5 minutes before I uploaded it since I was helping out one of my guildies. Date on the pic is 8/12. Date of post is 8/12.

Original post still stands , you need to either edit the picture to obscure the website addresses or remove it completely .

I'd love to do so but since I'm constantly recruiting for my guild, I'm forced to stay Visible to all. Try getting into a party in LFG while being "Visible to friends only" or "Invisible". Doesn't work.

Now explain why I would need to obscure the third-party seller's web addresses from my post? All I'm trying to do at the moment is provide enough information to the community that the third-party seller's are getting slightly smarter and are now attacking your PMs.

I only post in Zone chat when I feel like participating in the conversations. I have a hunch that I may have accidentally added a gold spammer to my friends list somehow. I'm combing through it now and deleting any @handles that are "keyboard smashes".

OK this happen to me tonight.I logged in to IWd ran out of the bar and got a friends request.Turned it down because the name was weird something like needgoldcallus. After that i started getting pm from third party sellers ever few mins.I would ignore one just to have a diffident account pm me.This went on for about an hour and 30 mins till i had enough and just logged out.So from what I take from that is there people passing your name off to an alt account so the lvl 60 will not get banded.

I've been getting them semi-regularly for months. Haven't noticed a recent upsurge but then I've spent most of my time on Preview since the SW launched and only log in on Live to invoke.

I've also had the weird Friend requests mentioned elsewhere. They're nothing if not determined.

Oh - and that screen cap demonstrates just how easy it is to get around the text filter in chat.

Because you're advertising their website. You should also hide the @ part of the name whilst you're at it as "naming and shaming" aren't allowed.

After x number of reports they need to be flagged everywhere for pvp. Let the community get some fun killing them.

Of course sooner or later players who want world pvp would mass spam to get the flag assuming that they could fight back.

I don't know what to do about it, but in a way it represents desperation, they are mass doing this more than usual, which indicates that something or some action is making them worried about losing ability to sell in game.

There was a system in place that automatically muted an account for 24 hours. If 20 or so players reported them for spam or ignored them. It was rather effective, but proved too effective. Players quickly found out how easily it was to get friends or their guild to silence others, guilty or not. It was starting to become a real problem.

At this point, i'm unsure if the system is still working or not. Or if the number of reports has been increased to an absurd and difficult to reach number. I just know that the complaints of "unfair muting" have stopped, but it is now also much harder to silence the spammers.

The lesson here is, there is really no effective way to stop spamming that wont, at some level, impact other legit players.

You know its sad that they had to modify a system in place to remedy things like this but peoples short sightedness makes it get revised because they only think about how they can abuse it to harass others, those people need to find something better to do with their time and quit messing stuff up for everyone else.

This kind of stuff is a minor inconvenience. Sure it can be annoying, but just get used to clicking SHIFT-2 and don't spend so much time worrying about it. If you are not a guild recruiter, simply modify your game options related to messaging/requests.

This is such a minor issue in this game in relation to other much larger issues . . .

It may be a minor issue but it becomes a big inconvenience when your in a boss fight of a dungeon and get a friend invite and it causes you to die, say what you want about other issues but their not as emotional as this one as it has caused me to break my mouse out of rage.

Yes, I have gotten those pop-ups during boss battles, but I guess I have become pretty goood at hitting the quick SHIFT-2, as I can take it down in less than a second. Hasn't gotten me killed yet, but a bit annoying yes.

All it takes is a level 20 limit before you can access Zone Chat and /tells.

Annoying for legit players ? Sure. But it will be way more annoying for the gold farmers who need to go through the whole intro quests, Blacklake and the Linkletter story before being anywhere near level 20. Just to get banned a bit later once they are reported enough.

ya i dunno might have been a guild invite or friend request or something cuz shift-2 wasn't working and yes I'm accustom to clicking those for loot rolls, idk i just remember not being able to get it off my screen without hitting alt which in turn got me killed, i just remember it was a gold ad and i broke the scroll wheel button on my mouse
