The major GF nerf was when the Stalwart set got destroyed and that was when Mod1 launched. What made the GF 'obsolete' was the fallout of the HV bug when people realized that even without the bugged set bonus, stacking CWs was far and away the most efficient was of running the content. The GWF buffs took place over three months after that and the class got a place in those groups because it could do AOE damage. Throughout the Mod1 'era,' many people on the forums described taking any class except for CW (and maybe DC) as a form of charity, threatening that any nerf to CWs would result in no other classes getting invited to parties as more CWs would be required to do the same job.

Hey guys, we looked into some survivability options for Great Weapon Fighters and we felt Sprint was pretty lacking at the moment in comparison to other shift mechanics as far as allowing you to respond to danger so we are also making the following change.
Great Weapon Fighter: Sprint: Sprint now grants 30% more damage resistance while active and makes you Immune to CC while sprinting
Scourge Warlock:
Shadow Sprint: Slip into the shadows, allowing you to move faster and granting you 30% additional damage resistance while shifted. You ignore control effects while shifted.
Question guys, about enchants. I'm not rich enough to test all of the enchants, but last time i faced a GWF right after Tenacity and Healing Depression introduction, i noticed that the Lifedrinker enchant (greater or perfect) healing was more noticeable. It was not affected by HD and i thought it could be worth it.
Now, in module 4 GWFs survivability will get another huge hit. Anybody tested if Lifedrinker enchant could now be a good option for, let's say, destroyers trying to last a bit longer in PvP?

Bad even if you have 14 % pure ls + LD +Endless boon you cant get enugh back.
GWF is not HR the 30 % LS i worth to build around it but 14 is not enugh regen way much better .
It is probable that these nerfs gwf to have the function of "preparing the ground" for the sw and take advantage of the popularity of ranger. therefore, the cw had expanded their control, and the gf got buffs. the will be able to protect them classes.
if this is not intentional, is the immediate consequence.
thus, at best, the gwf will "put in line" again in the middle of the module when the sw "fall into oblivion."
in one way or another, it has no reason to bring any balance. and this is what makes me deeply angry.
Of course, this is a pve perspective. In pvp the gwf became an "anti-popular" class.

Lifedrink is nothing in terms of survivability, just nice for the look. The damage is maybe not HD-ed but it is mitigated. You gain like 60 hp with a Greater. Less than regen, less than LifeSteal, less than xvim, probably less than the added Lifestolen hp from the added damage of a Vorpal.
you responded about your idea of the most efficient PvP variants with M4.
If I may ask - what would you call the best option for purely PvE GWF?
Thanks in advance
JIC, I'm 17k right now with over 9k power and over 1,5 LS, if this helps...
Hey bud!
For PvE, pure DPS wise, I'd still say Vorpal (easily) is the best and for Destroyer spec, etc.
As for party utility? Or for a Sentinel? I think there are a few that are useful... Bronzewood/Feytouched/Greater PlagueFire are all viable IMO. Remember, end of the day, it's not a DPS race, it's about finishing the dungeon as a team!
Also the Dragonborn race seems REALLY good IMO!

Hey guys i give you some info .
New build new encounter setup GWF IV Destroyer : http://nwcalc.com/gwf?b=fsv:27s9ts:1yiegw,12ifw3i:100000:1pu551:15u000&h=1&p=ivn Encounter At-will daly setup pvp:PC/ IBS /TB/ SS/ TR /IS/ SA
Class Features:Bravery/Destroyer PVE feats : not matter what you have in slot but DS cannot leave your bar.
Class Features: Destroyer/TtF
New build new encounter setup GWF SM Destroyer :http://nwcalc.com/gwf?b=fsv:27s9ts:1yiegw,12ifw3i:100000:1pu551:15u000&h=1&p=ivn Encounter At-will daly setup setup pvp: DS/ IBS /WMS/ SS/ TR /Crescendo/ SA
Class Features:Bravery/Destroyer PVE feats : not matter what you have in slot but DS cannot leave your bar.
Class Features: Destroyer/WM or SB
Both are viable in pvp and pve .
Ofc ppl need lot more skill and practice and lot more work for kills .
Also i recommend DC artifact and forget P.Vorpal move to GPF and forget t2and t2.5 pvp gear all we need is P.BI. For PVE ofc AoW .
I dont recommend sentinel its not viable in pvp. Cuz GF can kill you if your hp is lower then 40% HR can kill you cuz they ignore armor &CW too.
The tactic is to move fast hit fast .And move hit move hit and wait until we have daly up , patience and use daly only if you are sure your opponent cannot doge or block it then the time comes you can hit ibs.
PS: DONT try to facetank in mod4. Also i recomend max con (also hobbyt race)

Destroyer should still be the be(a)st in PvE. Just save 10 points to get powerful challenge and always group with a GF using enforced threat to see everything marked.
20% damage, Combat Advantage and 15% from Powerful Challenge should be a hell of a boost in terms of PvE DPS.

Thanks for your response, buddy.
It seems no big changes for me then...
Now I have Vorp but am almost ready to replace it with Gr Plague as it would be much more contributing to the group and won't be that much difference compared to the loss of Vorpal (will make 1 more for this char as well in the future though). Lack of initial burst dmg against almost the same amount but guaranteed when the debuffs are on.
The reason I asked is that reducing Unstoppable for almost nothing is a kid of alarming as my glass cannon will definitely lack the survivability (that is why I asked your opinion about maybe going Sentinel)...

Right now I have a purelly Destroyer build and use Battle Fury all the time (with the feats it is almost always on + stamina refill). To save 10 points for the Pow Challenge means to get rid of this encounter because without this 5 points in RBF it's quite meh...
And there's also a question of other 5 points - I can't see the candidate for this.
Thanks for the opinion.

I suggest you to swap Battle Fury for something else, I've been using and liking it, but with the upcoming changes every single damaging encounter counts, so I'm going to slot either Not so Fast or Mighty Leap.
Sentinel wise the first 5 points should go in Unstoppable Recovery, 5% HP is more than a decent heal on top of the Temp HP the skill gives. Consider that the nerf is now limited to 15-30%, therefore you shouldn't notice too much squishiness in PvE.
P.S. Considering how they are fixing Madness (DR boon) you should probably take Endless Consumption anyway, so with a decent amount of lifesteal that boon + the mad damage you're dishing + unstoppable should always keep you fill'd.

The point is that with the new sprint GWF is forced to use it even more defensively rather than just closing the gaps. And BF allows you to have almost always (together with Unstoppable) full stamina for avoiding CC. With the synergy talent its CD is about 10s (even not counting the AoW bonus). And the buff itself that is quite impressive.
I myself sometimes switch to the Leap as an additional escape means but you can't seriously consider it to be competitive compared to the BF buff + Unstoppable speedup.

Yes, I suppose if I am forced to rid of the BF after all these are the points to invest.

Have it on me already And quite enjoy full health-bar heals from RS sometimes.
Well, the best thing about Unstoppable (apart from CC) was the fact that it allowed you to leave through those couple of seconds when you pulled the whole room and are ready to be overwhelmed...
Right now it's going to be a history
Idk what encounters you have but if u use PC you can build realy fast ap and you can stay Glass Cannon build.
Emm... Sorry, but definitely not for me.
I do not use either of these dailies and can't boast that my AP rate is satisfactory.
Anyways, never liked the idea of depending on dailies.
Look they have to make way for a new dps class. If everyone continued doing the same dps as in module 3 and they launched Warlock class, who would bother rolling warlock? the biggest hit went to CW (for very obvious reasons) and next on the list is GWF dps. While I may not like a lot of the proposed changes (done in such a clear mercenary manner) it may also encourage more diversity in dungeons at high end gs where GWF and CW groups can clear dungeons in 20 minutes...I guess we shall see.

That threat has never left.
