I bought some zen with real money and when I go to sell it a message appears saying "Due to recent purchase activity, your account is temporarily unable to sell zen on the exchange".

Will this be fixed ?

It means your account is being checked out by Cryptic , you know the new security measures they added yesterday. No idea what they are checking or how long it will be until you can do what you want with the zen , maybe try to contact support?

EDIT - Don't buy anything during the probationary period unless you really want it for yourself ,it will become permanently bound to your account as soon as you buy it.

It isn't just you who will be getting checked ,its the new system to combat fraud , they haven't posted what they are looking for so I don't know what makes them decide to carry out checks , it could be that this is your first purchase or you don't buy zen on a regular basis or are you using a new card ,it could be anything to be honest.

When it comes to fraudulent charges, it's best to take better scrutiny. I understand, but legit players inconvenienced by it will just have to ride it out.

If you just bought today I wouldn't expect it to be cleared before weds at a guess. This is just a guess but an automated system flagged you and now it probably goes to a person for review. That person is probably very busy and may have to request verification from the bank etc so I'm guessing it'll be at least weds. This is just a guess but.....

I spend on this game about once a weak though and now its very annoying that I have to wait for a reason I cant understand...they should be able to just fix it fast because this is not fair for people who have to wait around and haven't done anything wrong -.-

Also if I have spent on this game many times in this past why do they have to check it now ?

THAT could be a red flag right there. Someone spending so often, and maybe trading/e-mail items weekly? -- smells a little funny, like actions that might be taken by a gold seller account. (Not that you are one -- just might trigger frequency patterns.)

Let me get this straight...OP bought Zen. Get notice. No one ask why he bought the zen. OP states he want to buy an Ioun stone for himself. EXCUSE ME

OP buy the stone, you want it on that account you stated that. There is no reason to wait. Once you equip the stone it be bound to the character anyway no matter all this non sense people are talking about, since they are not dealing with what you really asked. Yes if you buy it now you could not sale in it the AH...but as you stated you wanted to use it. As I said once equipped to your character you CANNOT move to anther character you have or sale it.

OP clearly states he wanted to sell Zen. Perhaps he bought some Zen to buy Ioun Stone, and some to sell.

I only got 1k zen so I cant afford the stone from the zen store but if I sell the zen combined with my in game AD I can afford the stone.

Edit: But now it seems I will have to wait a long time....

Really annoyed at this, if they need to check things to stop cheats and bots or whatever then great I love that but they shouldn't make paying customers wait before they can use what they paid for if they have done nothing wrong.

It should be sorted much faster than this...

There were a few players who exploited this system and used fraud to game the ZAX.

I can't say who they are, but in the past, you might've seen them getting tons of mounts on the admin notify.

It's very unfortunate that legit players are targeted, but as magenubbie explained, every game needs to check payments.

Just try to be patient. I imagine support is a bit burdened right now, since they're wiping up several messes.

I really think if money is put in weekly like crixus8000 say's that he does - then they must know if it is real money or not.

Unless they're doing it to help limit money laundering as well. Large constant payments in could make them wonder if he's laundering the money by then selling in game items on a third party site. There are all kinds of things that could make it look suspect. We don't know a lot about the system at his point.

I suspect the system flag every account that buys Zen for the first time and probations them for a week or so.

One of the technique of malicious users (which some always refer to as "bots") is to constantly create new accounts to ramp-up the number of characters - buy the zen that way, go straight to manipulating ZAX, AH, Whatever else.

Putting every single account on probation the first time they buy Zen quashes this. as for genuine players: it does't affect them on Zen Market sales because their purchases will be for themselves 99.9% of the time (such as the OP exampled) - the only 'inconvenience' for genuine players will be in buying Astral Diamonds in ZAX for a week, which for new players generally isn't an issue.

It's a good system.

@OP: Go ahead and buy your Companion from the Zen Market - you can use it just fine. You should be able to buy Astral Diamonds by next weekend. No biggie.

It is a biggie....

I only got 1k zen so I cant afford to buy it from zen market that's why I wanted to get it from the AH and this is not my first time buying, I have been playing for about 4-5 months now and I have been buying zen all this time.

you can just buy keys and open lockboxes but odds are you wouldn't get the same amount as if you just sold the zen

Hello community!

I am getting a message when I try to exchange Zen for astrals that says "Due to recent purchase activity, your account is temporarily unable to sell on the Zen Exchange." I am assuming this is because I have purchased quite a bit of zen recently (through Arc and Steam) and they think it is suspicious. I sent a ticket in, they asked for screenshots, I provided them, and they said they were unable to explain why this was happening and that I should visit the forums.

First of all, this ban is quite insulting to someone who has put considerable money into this game. Second of all, it makes no sense that customer service can't explain what is happening. The whole thing just seems fishy to me.

But anyway, does anyone here know how long this ban lasts? Has anyone else received this ban? What do I need to do to get it lifted? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Neverwinter Security Update - 07/31/14
Hello everyone,

As of 07:00 PST on 7/31, we will be implementing a new security system that will transition some accounts into a probationary period until we can verify the validity of their real money payments. During the time that these accounts are on probation, they will be unable to sell Zen on the Astral Diamond Exchange and all Zen Market purchases will be permanently bound to their account. Once the probationary period has ended, they will be able to resume normal Zen Market and Astral Diamond Exchange activity.

This system is being implemented to prevent players from transacting with malicious users, who participate in account compromising or fraudulent activities. Player account safety is a top priority and we will be optimizing this system to make it as nonintrusive as possible.

Is NO ONE able to sell ZEN at the moment because of this? I keep trying to sell my AD but there are no postings for ZEN for sale on the Exchange.

I was under the impression that account disciplinary events are not supposed to be discussed on the forums. I don't know why customer support would ask you to discuss this topic here. Are they hoping to gather ideas on how to resolve such issues by reading forum discussions about the topic? This is all very weird . . .

I know the whole AD exchange is a mess right now what with players having obscene amounts of AD. I think a way that might be able to help solve that problem is to increase to value of gold. Right now gold is kind of a useless currency. You use it for mainly removing enchantments from your gear and buying PvE potions. Other than that, gold is useless. If there is a change to the auction house to take gold rather than AD, and switch the removal of enchants back to AD, it should help quell the AD market. I know this brings up an issue with gold sellers, but there are still Zen and AD sellers in game, so it'll be an issue regardless.

Another way that could help fix the AD issue is to make any AD received from the Ad/Zen exchange rough astral diamonds so that there will be a cap on the amount gained per day. I know some of you use the AD exchange to transfer AD between characters and will be concerned with the ability to continue that process. My solution to that is to make AD an account shared currency that can be stored in your shared bank.

All in all, this game's market is messed up and needs to be fixed. These are just a few ideas, take from it what you will.
