There is absolutely no good reason what so ever that you could provide for this feature to be implemented. You never even know that you're being inspected for gods sake. There is nothing at all on your character sheet that you should/could ever want to hide. The example given earlier in this thread about going in to a public place and everyone in there having the RIGHT to not only look at you, but make judgements about what they see, is totally correct. You don't have to agree with what they say or think about you, but they STILL have the right to make that decision for themselves.
No. If I see someone who is or appears they may be high end, I might like to see what their stat makeup is. If I see we're doing bad in pvp I will have a look at the teams gs, sometimes it's decent and the team just doing know how to play, other times there's a 6k gs person on our team. It also gives an idea on if we can complete a dungeon or not. Sure some people put too much emphasis on gs and think even somewhat low but decent gs isn't enough, but for me, if we get less than 11k gs in something like cn/vt/mc then I'm not really going to be happy that you're on my team.
I'm starting to feel that the ones that want to block inspections have done some kind of exploit that they want to hide. Sort of like a criminal objected to being searched.
So why does OP want that?
A request without a reason doesn't mean a whole lot. Everyone can speculate, but the person requesting should provide insight.
I think you must consider that every person is an individual,
with different thoughts and values.
As in real life, some may take some kind of offense, to being inspected/scrutinised,
as it invades their privacy or their comfort zone.
.
Oh yeah. As in real life too. Let us hide our assets, stocks, profits and hedge funds.
We don't want anyone interfering with it. It invades our privacy. Think about our feelings.
come on never happened to ask yourself "how that guy can achieve 45k hp and still has 6000 power?" inspect find the trick.
probably that guy isnt sleeping since 2 weeks to find that way of building and is clearly unhappy about sharing.
Same for builds, 99% of you dont even think how to build your character after every mod... someone will think for you and you will take the fruit of his work. Asking for complete hiding is too much tho. Stats and roll should remain visible but gear could be hide like the feats.
but this is really a secondary problem i dont care about. let the sheeps sheepping

Or say someone discovered that an armor set bonus is bugged that could give you a big advantage.
If you are able to hide from inspection, no one will ever be able to have a chance to inspect you and they will not get the fruits of your labor!
Also, nobody could report it to Cryptic so the bug will not get fixed!

This is genius!
i really dont care about hiding i just can understand the feelings of the op.
that being said, you are right and we should ask for public feats inspection too.
just saying: the stat cheat was reported in february different times without being fixed. "thanks for your time wasted we wont let you know..." you know...
to have it fixed someone decided to post it on reddit and ownedcore. They woke up.

No no, I think you were right. I think we need to abolish inspection.
I mean, if someone discovers a bugged build, the labor of that person's fruit should not be shared!
All that hardwork, 2 weeks of no sleeping, only to have leechers leech off of him. It is an injustice I tell you what.
you talk about bug abusing, feats cant be bugged? not obeying healing depression (HR, GWF) , not giving the right combat advantage (TR), destroyer can be stacked with plaguefire (GWF) and so on

It is good idea. There is no possibility to hide your statistics. I do not want to share my eq and stats with everyone.
Now if you see someone good you can just inspect him and copy his gear.

I thought you were against sharing the fruits of one's labor? Did you have a sudden change in mind as well?

All item tooltips and such should be in the language of the player. My understanding is that some of the translations still leave a lot to be desired, but everything except chat (because player-generated) and admin announcements (because weird?) should be displaying in your language of choice.

I get pop-up, in-game messages regularly in a variety of languages that announce some sort of lockbox rare being obtained by some random player. . .

Those are the admin announcements which I mentioned. Nobody understands why they're not language-localized, but we can now all say "rust monster" in Turkish.
I disagree with the opening premise. It is akin to walking into a public place and requesting that no one be allowed to look at you. If being looked at so offends your sensitivities then you should not go into public places. An MMO is the video game equivalent of a public place.
I walk into an open place i am seen.. I can wear a mask aka costume in game. But i dont want people looking at all my gear. that is like a full body search.

I hate paying taxes! Why must I pay thousands of dollars in taxes when everything I buy is taxed anyways!
I like showing off my characters, but unless I am told, "Hey your character looks good" or "I love your history" I have no idea I am even being inspected.
I've never liked inspecting. It ruins creativity in building a character and finding gears or effective build combinations for oneself. This even applies to stuff such as item transmutes if you are able to find something that looks good in as a certain combination or with a certain dye, or just some piece of gear others haven't noticed has a cool "skin" yet. Would ruin it if others could just inspect and copy the same setup. Ultimately inspecting isn't really a thing in other games I've played, and I'd prefer it to stay that way.

In dnd people could not inspect my character sheet.
I transmute my items and armors for privacy.
My build should be my build unless I choose to share it with others..

You can already "hide" yourself in game using the visibility options just as a preventative measure from griefers.
As to further hiding any other stuff you have, read the entire thread for responses and reasons as to why a lot of people and me included disagree.
