How is the Gold league maximum gear score going to be enforced?
Thats a very good question and we are working on it. At the moment we can on rely on our knowledge about other players plus their @-handle and their "good will".
If that make sense to you... any support is welcome. We need it.

After a lot of feedback how to control the maximum gearscore cap we decided to rework the leagues. Please check them out:
Tournament Details
We will try to setup up three leagues for the tournament. So there will be the following leagues:
• Starter-League which is totally free to join and just for the fun. The idea behind the Starter-League is to give unexperienced players or groups a chance to test themselves.
• The Gold-League is for experienced PVP players and guilds who feel pretty confident with their team.
• The platinum league is made for the highend pvp groups that are seeking for competition.
To tell you the truth, Cryptic should be organizing these events and funding it[...]
Yea, we would be glad if we could get some support for this. But at the moment it seems we have to get the things together by our own. At least we can try to give the community a bit entertaiment.
As "E l e m e n T" (which is not a pvp guild) we look foward to this event... and hope to see many teams on the field.
Hey there!
I'm very glad to see that you will join the tournament. So to say you are the first official guild in our tournament. I hope alot others will follow you! (:

I like you guys are taking matters into your own hands. I'm a long time supporter for a tournament/league system (and possibly a team ELO) although I rarely PVP.
Keep it up!

I'm pretty sure prizes are not allowed in player made tournaments.
. . . Just to clear up the confusion here too (I already responded to those who PMed me):
. . . For player run events, it must be free to participate and open to the public. We cannot allow events to be posted that have any type of cover or admission charge. As for in-game prizes, that is not against the rules to do. You can freely give away in-game prizes and such for events or giveaways. As I said though, there just cannot be any fee for participation and it cannot be exclusive - meaning it has to be able to be participated in by anyone in game. E.G. it cannot be only for guilds, specific class, etc. Real world (physical) prized are not allowed however.
. . . The only issue I see here at the moment is the part about Fees. We cannot allow that unfortunately. However, you can put in a line saying that you are accepting donations, you just cannot specify what that donation has to be or that the donation is mandatory.
. . . As this is a work in progress, I'll leave the threads open for now but if this isn't remedied soon, I'll need to shut this down.
Safe travels,

Hey great, PWE is unable to come up with something themselves and now a player-driven tournament is threatened to shut down because of entry-fees? What's the big deal?
Let them have their competitive environment.

Thank you for taking the initiative!
I would love to see more community events like this.
Is there a way we can see who/what guilds are signing up for each bracket? My guild (Lightning Pandas) are pretty good, but none of us have rank 10's. I am afraid we would dominate the gold bracket and get wrecked in platinum, lol.

. . . Sorry to disappoint you, but this is not up for debate. It's a matter of equal opportunity, fairness, and of course legalities. If you wish to discuss it, PM any Moderator or Akromatik or you can file a complaint through Support. If you really want, you can go so far as to contact your world leaders over the legal nature of contests, keeping in mind these forums are governed by the laws of the State of California. As for the specific legal reasons we don't allow contest fees, I'd have to point you to either Support or some Legal Advisor. So no more of this kind of argument/insulting. Thanks!

Not to be difficult or anything, but isent this entire game against the matter of equal opportunity, fairness etc through ZEN store? Its not like everyone can afford the things there? Shouldent the same rules apply to a player-made tournament??
Anyways, to stay on topic. What a great idea, i really hope you get enough teams so you can make brackets etc, and not just 4 teams apply :P

Not really. This is Cryptic's game. They own the property, they own the real estate. Read the TOS next time. If reading is hard, then learn to accept the parameters set.
Now as for the zen store, this argument deserves its own thread but there are a lot of things inherently wrong with that statement. Of course, I'm not gonna flood this thread with that discussion (a new one should suffice that) but I just want to point out how narrow-minded and stupid that is.
@the person who said about blue gears: that's an awesome proposal but it can only go so far in terms of balance. I've seen pvp games like this with only blue gears in my guild before and a lot of min-maxing issues with stats came up. It became too easy to predict who will win. Suffice to say, blue gears didn't balance anything.
@OP, what about holding this tournament with fewer people in a team? I believe you understand that timezones can be difficult, and several here already talked about having enough players. Is reducing the team composition to 3 a possibility here? In which case, any 3 of all the classes, but no duplicate classes. To make this happen, why not make the whole tournament into a Death match mode and hold the event in Icewind? No companions (ACT/disqualify etc). The game is clearly lacking in PvP modes, and if a player-made tournament introduced a new game mode, more people would be happy to join.
Some of us already think Domination is a bit stale, and a Domination Tournament, way more stale.
to add to the guidelines of contests, the prizes offered must not violate any ToS or privacy policy guidelines. that means you cannot offer an awesome razor keyboard/mouse set or any physical items because it would require the exchange of private information as a stipulation of the contest. i would also suggest that because the direct transference of AD between accounts is not a sanctioned action in-game, AD may not be an appropriate prize unless you can get approval from the CM or PWE.
other than that, i'd like to see a friendly tournament happen here. i might even volunteer for a clobber the mod booth. who knows what could happen. ;D
Hello everybody
and thank you very much for all the feedback. So we made some changes:
#1 We removed ALL entry-fees. The tournament will be totally free for everybody \o/
#2 We changed the game-mode from single-knockout to double elimination
#3 We reworked the brackets from Starter, Gold, Platinum to Bronze, Silver, Gold
#4 We added the prizes for the brackets! \o/
#5 We added more rules to avoid abusing of unallowed pots/buffs
We also received alot of questions so lets start:
it's pretty hard to take a lot of teams, and manage to make them coincide in the same timezone, because not everyone plays at the same hours or days of the week.
We will give each match a start- and an enddate to be finished. There will be always at least one weekend in it. So the teams can organize their matches by themselves to find the perfect time.
Would be fun to do this with blue "of the" gear only and no enchantments or artifacts allowed. Otherwise seems like the stacked teams are gonna faceroll and end up taking everyone's keys.
Since we can't force people to use specific gear and control it during the matches we made the different brackets with different prizes. In addition to that we know most of the PvP-players/guilds out there so a well known full 10's BiS group won't be playing in the Bronze bracket. We have limitations but we do our best to keep all matches as fair as possible.
Just two examples:
- the past stat exploit was used by several individuals who will be participating in this event for sure. You have to be a naive mind if u think these people wont use any given mechanics no matter what if its an exploit to win.
- best example: the consumable "Barbecued Meat" heals instant for 8k hp, without HD and is spammable. I think its not even an exploit but WAI which in itself is a joke for competitive gaming… and I am quite sure one or two top guilds are already stacked with these ready to abuse them.
I cant say more because of forum ToS.
Each team will have a teamleader and these persons will be forced to use ACT (Advanced Combat Tracker). After each match both of the teamleaders have to send the ACT Logs to the tournament organizers and we will check it. In addition to that each teamleader has to send a screenshot of his party right after they joined the pvp-map to avoid using pots before they got in the match.
And yeah, to the point of one of the posters, I will not name any names, but some of the people associated with this tournament have been accused by plenty of committing shady stuff in-game and towards other players.
There's only Bizzy and me associated with this tournament.
I'm pretty sure prizes are not allowed in player made tournaments.
Prizes are allowed (weeeeeeee) - entry-fees are forbidden.
why not everyone put aLL RANK6, 7 and just make one big less then 14 gs tournament
To encourage lesser-geared players to participate. To encourage more players in general.
I don't know. I'm still of the belief that one of the "rich" PVP players with over a billion AD (you know how you got them) should just fund this whole thing for reasons I already stated. The lesser geared players are scraping for every single penny. It is hard to ask them to pony up enchanted keys.
We removed all entry-fees (FFA! weeeeeeee) and managed to put up a pot worth 6 million AD! \o/
How is the Gold league maximum gear score going to be enforced?
We removed the GS-Scoring completely because it will be hard to keep in track. Instead we are offering different prizes to the certain brackets.
Is there a way we can see who/what guilds are signing up for each bracket? My guild (Lightning Pandas) are pretty good, but none of us have rank 10's. I am afraid we would dominate the gold bracket and get wrecked in platinum, lol.
Hey man! Yes - so the basic idea is: Before the tournament starts every group has to post the following things to participate:
1. All teammembers including their @handle and their guild (if they are in a guild)
2. All backup-players including their @handle and their guild (if they are in a guild)
3. The team name
4. The bracket they want to play in
sounds like fun but i dont have 4 friends to make a full party
We will setup a different "Look for Group"-Channel so you may find your teammates there!
To make this happen, why not make the whole tournament into a Death match mode and hold the event in Icewind?
Well - IWD is very, very - very hard to control since everyone can join. So the chances that one group will get outnumbered fast is high. BUT (!) since IWD is pretty fun to play with alot of players you should check out the following thread because there are alot of people already doing organized IWD matches:

Since forth all my sponsorship prizes should equal the equivalent amounts I posted paid for by in-game trades of Rank 10/Perfect Gems to account and abide for ToS and EULA Terms.

A word of warning, it's trivial for anyone even slightly computer literate to make a simple text filter (a one-liner on a *nix box, even) to strip out all signs of a given consumable from the logfile, in a fraction of a second- just before sending it to you. The only way that you can make that work is if it's a 4v4 tournament, with one "recording angel" per team, who is neutral and trusted. Sadly, the game doesn't GPG sign its logs or similar
(Also, isn't there a range limitation on log events? I forget; I could be wrong there, though.)
Players who have abused the stat roll increase bug should not be allowed to participate in the event. So every players should take a screenshot of their stats (without any buffs ofc) to see if they qualify.

or else im not joining at least
Is common knowledge that this situation has been fixed couple weeks ago.
The stats have been rolled back to their legit value.
Grievance will be putting a team together for this, we're still getting the full team together in terms of who is willing to take part out of the team put forward by myself.
Man this guy hit the nail right on the head. All these elite players do is run all the little guys off like me, by telling me, " oh should not be pvping " or "why are you here?" . So eventually all there gonna have left left is each other to fight. 62k just to have the opportunity to get facerolled by a bunch people loaded with money and nothing better to do! Nothing but like the movie FightClub. Why not fight stripped no gear and then lets see who comes out on top, but then you guys wont have all your little advantages that you paid for, which I am not saying is wrong, its your right to spend your money any way you wish, but there is an old " your biting off your nose despite your face", neverwinter will crash and burn after mod 4 and that will be that. Good luck to ya all and anytime any wants to fight with out all your little trinkets I would be down for that. I think a more diverse pvp environment controlled by not allowing the psychos to run the asylum mite be a good idea but then all the elites will cry because they have to hide behind there gear and have no real skill. Come up with a better plan other than restricting players who mite be good but just cant afford to buy all there stuff and have to grind **** loads of glory as I am currently doin to get my gear. I don't mean to offend anyone and If I did I am sorry but it sucks when players from big guilds basicly tell you your trash when your fighting your butt off !!!

I'm not participating so I'll sponsor your team a couple of keys. Pm if interested and your 14k group still falls within that category.
ETA :Well, since the tournament now has no fees, I'll be donating to the prize pot instead.
