Question about the zen exchange.

Okay, to explain what brings this post up. I post the max bid to buy zen from zen exchange like Tuesday of last week. I expected by now i would have that zen, but to my surprise (or lack of surprise more so.) Not a person has even touched the zen bids since last week. I was wanting to buy character slots while they were on sale, and to my saddened disappointment, people would rather sell keys making 73K from 125 zen than the 62500 if they just sold the zen which if I am in their shoes, I would do the same. duh.

Understand this is not going to be a bash the company thread. Just a legitimate concerned question I would love for someone with the knowledge to answer me., but is there going to be a viable way to buy zen again from zen exchange? because I currently truly feel I am screwed here.

and if nothing is in the works for this problem. what is a person like me who currently can't afford to invest the cash into the game right now, not saying forever but bills, living expenses eat me alive right now.

(and i already try to squeeze in surveys for zen, but even that is very limited)
(and I truly hope the whole raising the zen cap from 500 isn't the answer because that too would make things so much worse for the game)

I just want to know a viable option for me right now, or where do I and people like me fit into the picture?

I'd give it time. I think when mod 4 releases things will change. Right now we're in a holding pattern though where people are trying to buy zen and have plenty of ad. When mod 4 hits people will be buying gear and who knows what for their warlocks and more people will want ad again.

I get that, with the warlock coming out, it does make sense of course. I just kind of feel like I'm squeezed out of the picture on getting things zen wise especially that char slot sale. It gets truly, truly frustrating.

Are you sure that you didnt get your Zen? Keep in mind it would be found on the first tab of the exchange, then you have to claim it.

The reason that I ask is that I've received Zen from the exchange from listings after Tuesday ( Day you said you created your listing). Took me around 2-3 days I believe.

Weird, i have bought ZEN from ZAX and it took about 3-4 days. (a day ago fulfilled)
And know of other that made very large buys and also took about 3-4 days.
Make sure you didn;t rel-listed or perhaps it's already fulfilled and not withdrawn.

From my experiences with buying Zen @500AD, there is around 1M Zen being sold each day.

So with the current 4,3M backlog on Zen sales it will take 4-5 days before your buy request comes to the top of he queue.

The problem is the capped zen to keep people from getting screwed. They need to cap keys and coal wards in the AH the same way. At 500 zen per AD. Or else they're defeating the purpose. People will always need keys and coal wards, and if people can sell at 600 ad per zen then why sell at 500 ad per zen? The caps keep Ad zen exchange from getting out of peoples realistic reach. But now it's just being bypassed.

    Last Tuesday?

I was just a bit short on zen for char slots and I had missed the bonus zen when it was on. I ending up listing a bid for a very small amount at 500/1 on Friday. It got fulfilled between yesterday and today in time to get my slots from the sale.

It was 4.2mil backed when I made a bid, so it took 3 days to move 4mil zen, which I found pretty amazing, which means NW must be pretty lucrative.

Yes last Tuesday, and it was at the 500 per zen bid point, was still not filled when i checked tonight, so I gave up and got my AD back. kind of pointless if its just gonna sit untouched in the exchange. As i assumed that its first come first serve , obviously it was not the case for me. Which is now making me even more frustrated and borderline angry about it.

Hmm, I've always taken for granted the exchange in NW is per first basis, though this is only the 2nd time I've used the exchange (more like emergency use, other than transferring AD).

The exchanges in CO and STO have been first come first served in my experiences though, I thought it would be the same.

How much Zen did you request to buy at the max exhancge rate?

I, too, put in a bid for 500 Zen this past week and it only took about 2.5 days to get it. Maybe requests for very large amounts of Zen are moving more slowly??

I dont' think so. New items/mounts in zen shop are gonna be released. Plus a lot of people will want to buy respec tokens. Plus I'm sure new lockbox is gonna be presented. I'd bet on 10mil backlog at mod4 release

If you are in a country that supports it, use the 'Free Zen' banner offers.perfectworld.com and see if there are any adverts/trailers to watch, or questionnaires that you can fill in. I've occasionally gotten lucky with those in the past and nabbed a couple of hundred Zen pretty sharpish.

Oh that's going to happen the first few days for sure, but then it's going to go down as people start wanting ad for rp to rank artifacts, rank up enchants, etc etc etc.

well maybe i am wrong, but i remember the zen ad exchange was messed up before the release of mod 3 and everyone said 'oh, this is just because people are hording to prepare for mod 3 and everything will start to fix itself after that release' .... and it has not.

I think the pipes need to be flushed. I am no economist, but would it hurt PW to flush the market to get the exchange and flow happening again? I am thinking if they bought all the 500 orders that are x days old to get to some point where there was an actual exchange, this would help.

I might be wrong, but i believe the cap is to make it so that people that are truly f2p have a 'fair chance' to get zen, because without the cap, zen could go to 600 or more, however, you simply cannot get zen with ad it seems (opps my bad i just realized people have said thier order do get filled it just takes many days)...

Well, it seems like the system is broken and I hope it does return back to a point where I can readily turn ad into zen or zen into ad.

The problem is the cap has failed because zen store items are not bound to account on acquire. Because of this people then sell items on the ah for above 500:1 to make more. It would probably be best to just to get rid of the 500:1 limit.

Hopefully they will add some stuff we can buy using only AD in module 4 , we seriously need a way to drain some of this spare AD from the game , to be honest I wouldn't rule out the idea of them nerfing the Leadership profession AD payouts as well.

The cap of 500:1 needs to remain in place (reasons have been discussed extensively in numerous other posts).

It is only taking 2-3 days to buy Zen with AD currently. It just takes patience.

I think they should have a zen sale WITHOUT also having a key sale. The key sales always caused a spike in the zen exchange. By having a key sale along with the zen sale, all the zen was being spent on keys instead of going into the exchange.

Do you think they already do this? by my calculations about 1M worth of zen is still being sold on ZAX PER DAY, so it's a minimum of $10,000 USD worth of zen being purchased each day (european customers pay more, zen-sinks not counted!). Are Cryptic really making that much off of Neverwinter?

I've read a lot of the comments and I'm going to take a different approach to the OP Question. This is NOT meant to be a sarcastic or abrasive response, but a genuine one:

    1) Proffer to sell your AD for Zen at 500/1 as soon as possible. Don't wait until you want or need Zen.
    2) Wait as long as it takes to for that sale to happen; add additional proffers to sell as you earn AD.
    3) Any and all Zen you have should STAY in the Zen Market - leave it there, never sell Zen for AD.

In other words: Do not wait until you want or need the Zen to sell your Astral Diamonds. Sell the AD *NOW* and just leave a comfortable amount of Zen in your Zen Market account so it's *already there* when you want to spend it. Never "reconvert" Zen back into AD if you originally converted from AD into Zen.

3.65 million a year? Thats not much when you then have to subtract out all the devs salaries, servers etc. Better hope they are actually bringing in a lot more then that.
I wasted five million AD promoting the Foundry.

My transaction went from July 3 to July 5, which is pretty recent (less than a week). If the wait time has increased to 5-7 days in less than a week, must be something else going on?! Maybe it has to do with the quantity of Zen desired? I only buy 300-500 Zen at a time (with AD).

Maybe I will put up another Zen purchase on the exchange tonight and see how long it takes.

You are correct. Their annual payroll expense is probably $1-3 million per year, depending upon the number of employees on payroll.
